  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 02:13 PM) Samardzija pitched for the Cubs when they couldn't score him runs. He was an excellent pitcher last year. What he's done this year is not indicative of what kind of pitcher he was before. Anyone can have a great year. See Francisco Barrios.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 02:17 PM) He has an ERA of nearly 6.00 when the Sox score him at least 6 runs. So even that isn't an excuse this year. He's never been as great as the hype, that is just fact. But he can't possibly be as bad as he's been his last 9 starts. It's not like he's throwing 85. He has just been way too hittable. His locations are horrible. Career stats seem to say that.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 09:12 PM) I don't really buy the 'if's' with this team. I truly think this team blows and if Shark did well somebody else would have just screwed up. Interesting stat though. Shark has definitely been worthless. I'd believe that. That's the season in a nutshell anyway.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 08:11 PM) Awful call on the non-block at home No decision for Arietta.
  5. I'm watching Arietta trying to bag his 20th. Maddon's going to let him earn it. Strangest inning I've seen. Now tied.
  6. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 10:52 PM) It's shocking how bad Samardzija is right now... Is it as shocking as people thought he was really good? I think wins can still define a pitcher. He has a losing record every year except for one. Look at Sale. He is on a bad team and he had one losing season. I look at Smarj's stats and where does it in any way say "big contract" or ace. What separates and ace is the team and fans feel more confident of a victory. But Q destroys this theory. If he were pitching for a team that produces runs - 15 game winner, Sale 17 game winner. The title of this one hurts. http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/contin...amardzija-trade
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 10:44 PM) Dayum. He sent you back to hs with a homework assignment. Just as long as he doesn't get depressed or angry like the others.
  8. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 10:44 PM) hahahahahahahahahahahahahah He meant perfect for the A's to hit. He left that out.
  9. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 14, 2015 -> 10:38 AM) Exactly. That is why I disagree when everyone says that Sale is having a poor season. He's been exactly like he always has, the only difference is that the Twins own him this year and he's faced them 5 or 6 times already, which shot up his ERA. He'll be fine. We just have to hope that he can avoid Minnesota next year. I guess it's different if you are using the Sale yardstick vs. the MLB yardstick. It's no different with any pitcher. They either own a team or get owned by a team. The peculiar one is Danks vs. opponents. I'm not a fan of shutting down a hard throwing pitcher. I can only think that trend started with Strasburg. They treat some of these pitcher like they are glass. I think it was Woody Fryman who started the season with four man rotation. Taking away the competition from athletes based on they competed too much makes no sense. Pitching is just as much a mental game as it is physical. Mark B. knows how to get people out throwing at 89 and Nate Jones thinks he can get everyone out throwing 98.
  10. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 06:39 PM) Remember when people thought the Rangers traded for Hamels for next season? If the current score holds, they'll be leading the West. Hurts to think we were ahead of them at the Trade Deadline. Wow! Anyone got an explanation for that?
  11. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 11:11 PM) It's boring because you're not actually giving real answers or giving any actual evidence to support any of your bogus claims. You gave 2 examples, and then didn't explain why the (allegedly) losing organizations were the cause of their poor play for us, how is that proving a point? You also have yet to give me an example of an actual losing organization and what makes them a loser. It just seems like you're trying to sound smart with your nonsensical analogies. Case in point: "Round peg into a square hole", go ahead and keep repeating that, it doesn't mean anything and it's just you continually avoiding the question. It's boring because I was actually giving real answers without the need of giving any more evidence to support "it's in plain sight" claims. I gave 2 examples,(like do I need more?) and then I don't need to explain why losing organizations were the cause of their poor play for us, how is that proving a point? (It's called using your eyes) You also have yet to give me an example of an actual losing organization and what makes them a winner. It just seems like you're trying to sound smart with your nonsensical analogies. Case in point: "Round peg into a square hole", go ahead and keep working on that, it means a lot to you and it's just you continually avoiding the evidence. Class dismissed. Homework assignment:Research Hahn/Williams trades, signings post 2005. Yawn.
  12. When I got home I was hoping to see Mark B. pitch. They took him out.
  13. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 11:11 PM) If you are going to be an administrator of a professional sports team fan message board, and said professional sports team continues to fail as often as the team this board is dedicated to does, then you shouldn't be surprised at the amount of complaints that result. What do you expect from fans after this abysmal season, the three of four before this one, and almost the past entire decade? Sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows everywhere? Complaining comes with the territory on a site like this when passionate fans are continually and rightfully disappointed with the product they support. The insanity here is not recognizing that and constantly castigating those who communicate this disappointment. Post of the week.
  14. I don't think you can fill 7. Maybe 2. I against a full time DH. That hasn't worked. They soaked a lot of money at that position.
  15. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 11:02 PM) I can't think of much Ventura, Cooper, Hahn and Williams have done to warrant continued employment That's because you are not Mr. Reinsdorf.
  16. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 10:29 PM) Way to avoid the question. Who are the losing organizations? Also explain how these players can perform well for these "losing organizations" but then suddenly regress hard just by the act of coming here. It's not like there's a lot of pressure to play here. You're not making any sense. Also Dunn was hardly an aging slugger at 31 years old when we signed him, especially for the DH position. Because it's easy. I'll say it again. You could continue to smash that round peg into the square hole to try to prove your point. Your debate is quite boring and not really worth my time. I answered your questions. I'm going to waste my time watching Tex vs. Hou.
  17. Well you now see what these guys were really working on in spring training. A never ending bullpen.
  18. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 10:15 PM) Can't deflate a baseball to the best of my knowledge The Pats probably have a way to do it.
  19. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 10:13 PM) What other players did we acquire from losing organizations? We got Dunn and LaRoche from the Nationals. Why are they considered a losing organization? Who are the teams you consider losing organizations anyway? Many of the teams that would fall under that if you looked at the last 20 years are in line to make the playoffs this year. Would Felix Hernandez fall under this umbrella as a player with a "losing mentality"? Or is he different just because Seattle is in the AL? Dunn, LaRoche ( as I said before = aging NL sluggers) Go back a decade. or you could continue to smash that round peg into the square hole to try to prove your point. See how players from losing organizations translates into other sports.
  20. I think the Sox have a change if they put Tom Brady in.
  21. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 09:36 PM) This is all my fault for being a bad fan. Sorry guys. You must not have been listening when Cooper mentioned your name a lot on the SCORE.
  22. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 09:48 PM) Aside from this past off-season and maybe Dunn in 2011, when did we pay premium price for a free agent in the last decade? One off-season doesn't make a trend. White Sox premium price is a different definition. At least the Sox aren't burdened with 10 year contracts.
  23. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 09:46 PM) So if we somehow traded for Kris Bryant we should expect him to suck because he comes from the same losing organization that Samardzija did? Did LaRoche also come from a "losing" organization? Smells like bulls***. Bryant = A's organization. Rookie. Big difference. I'd prefer young players if you get them out of the NL. These are NL veterans they keep wasting money on. They fail. There's a pattern - stop. Not too much has changed since the Williams era - acquiring players from losing organization. Nice try.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 09:23 PM) "Paying premium prices for mid level free agents" seems to be a particular recipe for failure and it's been our favorite move for a decade. They need to stop.
