Ventura "absolutely" wants to manage White Sox next season
kitekrazy replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 08:38 PM) I loved Robin as a player.. but he is a horrible manager. No thanks. This is why I don't like former players as managers. You forget they were great playing the game. -
QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 08:41 PM) Fire Kenny Williams Fire Rick Hahn Fire Robin Ventura Fire most scouting Begin the recovery process with a real general manager and baseball operations team. Our current players just don't matter. None of them outside of Sale could possibly part of the "good White Sox" That's going to take a new owner who want to win.

Tell all of the Sept. call ups to play crappy baseball, we need the draft pick.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 09:25 PM) Home runs are fun. After the steroid era I find them boring. I like a pitcher dual and the NL style of play.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 08:58 PM) The Sox do seem to like Brantly. What is his history? How did they get him?

QUOTE (gosox41 @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 09:22 PM) As much as I like your attitude, the Sox play has been a big disappointment this summer. I choose to ignore them all together. Easy to do because everyone is on the Cubs bandwagon as much as that sucks. I think right now every game the Sox win moves them farther away from achieving a long term goal of winning a World Series. might as well play for the draft pick and see how good are scouts are. Beats making a late run towards .500 against other teams minor leaguers. Bob Royals fans said that for about 30 years. If winning comes from the contributions of the kids, I have no problem with that.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 09:20 PM) http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=96908 Thank You! I've read it twice.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 08:56 PM) I wish Robin would tell more guys to hit home runs. Then they hit them with no one on base.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 11:12 AM) While the last sentence may be true, the rest of this post wholesale ignores the past few years of history. You have a different crowd making most of the decisions now, and you can see in who they've drafted that their style has changed noticeably. Please elaborate.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 06:36 PM) LMAO. Me too in a sad way.

My simple one - no more career NL players.

Ventura "absolutely" wants to manage White Sox next season
kitekrazy replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
How they replace managers doesn't make me giddy. Maybe they would give Ron Karkovice as call. I'd be more upset if Robin was managing in the minors and had big league coaching experience but he doesn't. Who would want to manage this team where there is no philosophy practiced in the organization other than laid back and no accountability. -
QUOTE (harkness @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 06:34 PM) Yeah.. what else is he going to say. Not that he doesn't mean it. He doesn't want to fail and I understand. It is a contract. Besides they'll replace him with another former player or someone with no experience.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 08:38 AM) In the battle of Carlos, Sox LHP Carlos Rodon, who has been very sharp lately, takes on Indians RHP Carlos Carrasco, who has had a very good season. I feel like this point of the year (September, Sox out of the playoff race) is the time we Sox fans take for granted. In mid-December, when the Bears are 3-11, the Hawks are struggling without Kane/Sharp/Saad, and Derrick Rose is out for 6 months with a knee injury, we'll wish we had any White Sox baseball- even an unimportant game like this. This is worthy of its own thread. Baseball is my favorite sport. Being in a warm climate I don't watch the NFL and I've been a Colts fan since the post Unitas days. I don't care for basketball and I miss the Blackhawks but after another losing disappointing Sox season you feel empty when it's over. 2005 on the other hand the season was longer and it didn't end until after the parade and you wanted 2006 to start right away. I pissed I missed the AZL Sox win and they are in my backyard. Local baseball is extended around here. You see kids playing night games late in October. I should go watch little kids play. Great post.

The 2015 AZL White Sox - story of a rookie league Championship
kitekrazy replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 12:22 PM) The younger-leaning of the two White Sox rookie affiliates won their league championship last week. From a developmental perspective, this is interesting in that the AZL team is what used to be the Bristol team. And that combined team had been awful for years. the fact that they won it all, and that the other rookie club (Great Falls) is also close to a playoff spot, indicate increased potential in the lower end of the system. Kim Contreras, our AZL correspondant who was there for many games including the big win, wrote this piece - not a prospect analysis, more of a story. This is what it looked like. You should give it a read. I should have my ass kicked. I live a few miles from Camelback Ranch and not far from the other parks. You can go see these games for free and no one really attends them. I missed a Rodon opportunity last year. I feel like a dope missing a winning Sox team in my backyard. -
QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 06:56 PM) this was like the conversation that was done back in the late 90"s and earlier. while i really can't say either way, i just like to clarify this. is what is being discuss is, an elite pitcher whom most would agree, if he came or is in the NL, does that mean that his stats may be watered down. as oppose to an equal pitcher in talent in the AL???? the reason why i am curious is FA is right around the corner and this is an interesting subject. many thanks. Both leagues are so different. I like NL baseball much better. I don't know how much as changed but even the strike zone use to be different. How long a pitcher stays in the game is dependent on whether to pinch hit. IN the AL you have to throw to a DH. I think the talent is better in the AL but when it comes to the post season the NL plays the game better. The Sox don't have success with former NL players. Dunn couldn't adjust to AL pitching and we shall see how Laroche does next season. As for shark I think he is over rated. He also came from a Cubs organization where it is OK for players to have attitudes.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 03:07 PM) For next year, need to add two guys with 20 home run power Who don't play in the NL.

Could White Sox trade some pitching to fill other areas in offseason
kitekrazy replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 6, 2015 -> 08:08 PM) Jose Quintana (after yesterday's win): "I'm so excited. … It’s really fun when you get runs." That's sort of backhanded. Makes me think about whether Quintana will be traded in the offseason. I bet he was on the trading block more than we think. I don't think he will be given away. Some scouts think trading him is a bad idea. I'd keep him before Shark. Funny how the Sox throw money at NL players who become of little value after they are a Sox. You can't even trade them back to the NL. -
If you don't believe your team has good scouting and developing like it really matters. Drafting the same position over and over doesn't work. Ask Matt Millen. Look at some of the misses on position players. Kenny seemed to like multi sport athletes. They were athletes but not baseball players. If the Sox were an NFL team they would draft every guy who looks good at the combine. They would get receivers who run a 4.3 but poor hands and bad at running routes. Then they think they can fix those deficiencies when you really can't at that level of performance. They need better scouts and coaches.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 11:33 AM) When was the last time a pitcher who had success in the NL replicated that success in the AL? Cueto has sucked, and Hamels has just been OK for the Rangers (I'm aware of the small sample sizes). We all know what's happened with Samardzija. I can't think of one. I guess Volquez has been OK this year but he's not really a guy I would say has had a past history of success. In this century I'd agree. NL players don't really work for this team. Don't forget Peavy, he wasn't great for this team. Interesting that Scherzer isn't producing for what he's paid. Puljols is productive but the Angels regret that contract. Hopefully the Sox will realize trying to fill holes with NL players isn't working for them. That's where you throw out the stat book and look at recent history.

QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 11:32 AM) I think cooper needs to go more than Williams or Hahn. I don't know. What would happen it he would be replaced by a former player. Former Sox retreads just aren't working.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 6, 2015 -> 03:18 PM) Now it's time to go home and lay an egg against CLE #2015 Or go on a 8 game losing streak after 1 game before .500
-
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 6, 2015 -> 03:08 PM) he certainly had a terrible year but unless the Sox are prepared to walk thru the desert for a few years, stockpile some high draft picks and start over, not sure if you're going to have better options than Lexi next year. Doesn't seem Anderson is ready I think he is at the point where he needs to be rested maybe one a week. I don't recall him getting many breaks in his career. He might have played more innings than most of the team.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 6, 2015 -> 03:01 PM) It reminds me of the Sox at the trade deadline.............do not get fooled again KW/Hahn. I bet every organization tried to low ball them.

The guys in the Royals pen throws really hard.
