QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 6, 2015 -> 01:34 PM) Remember back in 2005, we had a 12-16 record in August and in mid-September we had a 4-10 stretch? The Royals aren't playing their best right now but their best is as good as anyone when the find it. Don't judge teams by what they're doing at their best or at their worst. 2 weeks later it can look very different. teams slump

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 08:36 PM) AAAA player. We got plenty of those. Those just happen to be millionaires. -
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 10:06 PM) s*** man. At times I'm ready to move Sale, Abreu and Q and stockpile prospects and try and get this thing going long term. It's painful to watch us ruin the primes of those three. Which is what it seems like we'll do for the next three seasons. Maybe this is just the booze talking at this point lol. I'm sick of s***ty baseball run by s***ty people. I'm not trusting this organization with prospects. They do fine with pitching. They could trade Sale and end up with another Borchard, Owens, Fields and Anderson. The Mount Rushmore of Suck. I'd trade those 3 for 90% of the Cardinals scouting and development and throw in Buddy Bell as a bonus.

Ventura brings out both mental midgets of the pen. I'd use Duke in March.

If I was a KC fan I would be ticked at giving up these homers to an anemic offense.

QUOTE (skooch @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 09:09 PM) Here's a crazy thought, if you're the Blue Jays or the Yankees do you consider trying to add John Danks for a potential playoff match up against the Royals? I don't think he would be allowed in the post season.

Danks is better than Shark.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 01:31 AM) I remember going to games there and feeling sorry/pity for the Royals. I was at that game when Miguel Asencio threw 16 consecutive balls to walk in a run. Now we have to feel sorry for the White Sox organization. To those of us who have lived and died with this franchise for the last 30 years, this is all very confusing — almost as confusing as rooting for a team that’s resting its regulars for the playoffs with five weeks left in the season. That the Royals are the anything of baseball is disorienting enough. For a generation, the Royals were props, redshirts existing only as plot devices. That they are now central characters in baseball’s drama is heady enough; that they are regarded as villains is icing on the cake. Your favorite team can inspire worse emotions than hatred. Pity, for instance. The irony is probably the only contact for most of the US this year with the White Sox (other than Chris Sale K's) has been Eazy-E incorrectly wearing an early 90's White Sox cap 3-4 years before it was even introduced. In that sense, I guess it's not a surprise. Whether it's Shoeless Joe Jackson's denial or C caps with "Piglet" tails that get confused with the Cleveland Indians, it has been a LONG LONG three years in the wilderness, and the likelihood of beating KC, Minnesota or Cleveland before 2018 is about the same as Kim Jong Eun being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for using an anti-aircraft missile battery to execute one of his top military advisors. So like after 20+ years the Royals are playing winning baseball. I don't get the placing of that organization on a pedestal.

Saladino could take over ss until Anderson is ready

I wonder where Alexei ranks among games played over 5 years compared to other MLB players? -
QUOTE (South Sider @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 08:01 PM) IMO Cooper is wearing out his welcome here too. He couldn't find a middle ground to work with Samardzija on? Their relationship should never have been this bad, and as his boss, that falls on Cooper as much as it does Samardzija. Give Cooper a QO too, if you ask me... hehe Does Cooper really have any success with veteran pitchers who had some success? He has more value working with younger pitchers. I wonder why Rodon has little minor league experience. Do they trust Cooper that much more than their farm system?

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 10:20 AM) I strongly suggest reading Steve Rosenbloom's column on the Sox today in the Tribune. It is 100% right on the money. When the executive VP says publicly he can't figure out what's wrong with the team while the G.M. is saying publicly that everyone is open minded in what needs to be changed you've got a serious disconnect...to say nothing of the disconnect between the organization and the fan base. Really good reading. The reality of course is that as long as JR owns the franchise there will not be much substantial change certainly not bringing in skilled people from outside "the family." Which means more losing, more irrelevancy in their own market and more fan apathy. Also one of the other Sox writers for Chicago Now has an interesting column on why Kenny Williams needs to go at the Tribune web site. Mark Anyone got a link for this?

I don't think this organization can identify or develop can't miss prospects except for pitchers. I would crown the Royals or Cubs as model organizations. A whole lotta suck for two decades and a World Series loss isn't great. The Cubs got some great trades - OK. People act as if they are in the post season. I find the Cardinals organization fascinating. They let a Pujols go, have injuries and they still know how to win. A couple years ago, Rosenbloom commented on Garcia, wait til he stops being a Tiger and becomes a White Sox. On Smarj, "Want ace money. Act like one."

QUOTE (harkness @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 11:44 PM) Any message board... of any team... in any sport that has 4 bad seasons in a row like this... You will find complaining/despair. We can't really change it but we can celebrate success... and lament disappointment Welcome to the interwebs Go to any fan forum of a winning team and fans b**** because they are not good enough. You should have seen a Pats board early in the NFL season after a loss.

QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 05:22 PM) Agree 100%. If they're not ROY candidates from the start, they suck or are backups. Guys can never improve. Look at the aforementioned Dozier. His first year, 84 games, he hit .234 with .271/.332/.603 line in 316 plate appearances. Saladino's number are pretty similar through 147 plate appearances at .233/.270/.326/.599 It would be interesting to look up Big Hurt's stats before being called up but I think his beginning MLB experience stats were better than the minors. -
QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 05:34 PM) i am drunk and i am feeling good, so i am in this catch -22 kind of circle. i am happy the sox won, but they are screwing up the draft. i want a good draft, but that will happen if the sox loose. dang.... i am confuse. I want some good scouts. Oh yay yipee another pitcher. I don't mind it if they could bat .400.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 06:18 PM) I would put the over under at 3 years 50 million at absolute most for Shark. He's not going to take a 6 year 80 million dollar deal, not with his ego and nobody is gonna give him 6 years 110 million. The scary thing is the Sox would probably make an offer close to that. He is OVAH RATED!

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 05:25 PM) I heard that yes he was really pissed that the Sox did not deal him in July I bet so were the White Sox.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 06:22 PM) Agreed, there's a contingent of Sox fans that are always miserable and you wonder why they haven't gone to another team already if they hate the franchise so much. I'm not happy with the current state either but I don't get the point of endlessly complaining. Yeah we're a bandwagon fanbase but so are most fanbases so meh. We're hardly unique there. I'm getting there. I don't see any hope under this ownership. Then if ownership ever changed they would probably keep the same people.

QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 11:13 PM) there are many ways of being a fan, even if it means loosing in order to ensure a better pick in the draft. there is nothing wrong on that or for that way of thinking. i prefer for the sox to win, and if they loose, oh well. they gave it a try. but i will not look down on anyone to cheer for them loosing for a lousy season. I can never be giddy about this when they are bad at scouting, development and only go for a pitcher. -
QUOTE (AlSoxfan @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 07:08 PM) Sounds to me like they're thinking of a big trade involving a fan favorite. Sounds like the usual bulls***.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 08:02 PM) But...White Flag, the Sox attendance will nosedive, etc., etc. Would have been nice if they would have started rebuilding in 2007 instead of eight years later. If that had been done correctly, we'd be sitting in a sweet position right about now. According to this thread, we're now pushing back to 2018-19-20. Hope they get it right at some point. And/or decide to hold someone accountable for not getting it right finally. I don't think it matters if you are not good at scouting and drafting.
