  1. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 12:24 PM) It's the Sox season of inactivity so I don't expect anything to happen however... . 1) The Sox might secretly admit they blew it not getting anything for Shark and try to save a little face getting something for Robertson . 2) Having seen what Jones can do even though he's a good candidate to be reinjured , they might just have to take that chance. 3) The Yankees have seen how the Jays made up a lot of ground and now might be considered the favorites in the AL. Although the Yanks BP is good, it is not elite and with their starting pitching being so so the BP if upgraded give the Yanks a much better shot at a title. 4) Yankees have some interesting prospects . At catcher their is Sanchez who's work ethic and defensive skills are both highly questionable . Has a powerful bat but never sure where his head is at. John Ryan Murphy ( the current Yankees backup catcher ) doesn't have the upside of Sanchez especially when its power we're talking about) but he's hit for decent average and had a positive WAR for 2 seasons with the Yanks in limited AB's. Both are RH. Luis Severino RH P tearing up the minors. Yanks #1 prospect no chance for him. Jorge Mateo if the Yanks offer him the Sox should jump at the chance . RH SS speed to burn . Still rough with the glove much like Tim Anderson but has a good hit tool and its been coming quickly. Still just 20 ,he's at A+ now. Other position players to look up Aaron Judge (OF), Greg Bird (1b), Eric Jagielo (3b). Robertson has trade value especially to the Yanks since they know him well. To those suggesting a salary dump giving JR up for nothing , not a chance in hell. I'd say 60/40 chance nothing happens but the Yankees want a quality reliever bad. Sounds like the perfect White Sox. They will somehow think they can fix this and evidence points more to them taking it to a higher level.
  2. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 30, 2015 -> 12:46 PM) Well I give Q the benefit of the doubt because he's usually solid. s***mardzija... Not so much. Danks>>>>>>>Smarj NL player + losing organization = bad investment by the White Sox. Solution - stop, please just stop
  3. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 30, 2015 -> 12:04 PM) I really can't see much of an argument that justifies keeping KW or RV. I'm still on the fence with Hahn, but in losing hope that area as well. The sad thing is, I really don't see any moves being made under the Reinsdorf loyalty regime. Pretty much any GM and manager in this league would have been fired after year 2 with those dog crap numbers. Especially if you didn't even partake in a rebuild. THey are on year 4 together and haven't been in contention since September of 2012. What am I missing here? They made little progress in advancing the farm system, over valued the "new core" and have been playing musical chairs with guys at 3b and 2b. Seriously, I believe this "3 year plan" was pulled out of thin air in an effort to make Sox fans believe they are making progress. Luckily, Sox fans are not naïve, we are tired of the suck fest and want someone new calling the shots at the top of this withering mountain. We are not afraid of a rebuild.. In fact, we would embrace a rebuild. No accountability anywhere, even down to the players. They like it here. My theory for their win streak is some guys where worried about getting traded.
  4. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 30, 2015 -> 12:45 PM) 2 weeks ago they mailed it in. Spring training they mailed it in.
  5. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 08:50 PM) Boring all year except the 7 game win streak against s***ty teams. unfortunately I classify the Sox as a s***ty team
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 08:44 PM) Saladino looks like a utility player says every fan of a team who has a bad farm system
  7. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 08:22 PM) White sox baseball Almost an oxymoron.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 08:05 PM) Samardzija will end up being pitcher of the month in September or a meaningless waiver trade like a AA pitcher, era 8+, maybe, just maybe Coop can fix him if he ever got that far.
  9. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 08:00 PM) Meh, Shark just sucks. That's wasn't a bad trade at the time. No but it seems the getting name players from the NL just isn't working.
  10. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 07:54 PM) I f***ing hope so! We need as many high picks as possible. Nice play by Saladino but slipped and throw it low. Nice play by Sanchez to glove it but needed to pocket that one. Sure they'll draft another pitcher while at the same time trade for an overrated pitcher, get a veteran who has only seen NL pitching and forget they need hitters.
  11. Whaddaya bet the Tigers will end up with a better record than the Sox?
  12. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 07:46 PM) The shift. But he never bunts so of course he's going to f*** it up especially with him having his worst season. LOL! I think it was Eddie Murray or one of those Oriole greats who faked a bunt and popped it past the outfield.
  13. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 07:27 PM) Man I'm sick of s***ty baseball. I paid the recent MLB special of $9.99 so I could keep track of other teams in a race.
  14. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 07:38 PM) Pull Danks this is so predictable. 2 runs after 6?
  15. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 07:39 PM) Another Danks surrendered HR, 2-0 Seattle Only with this team 2-0 is like 8-0.
  16. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 07:20 PM) LaRoche attempts a bunt and pops out! Haha JFC he sucks. Was there any point for his bunting?
  17. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 04:59 PM) I continually call for a rebuild on this board because it is critical we get one. We require a change in philosophy, new staff, move players like Jose Abreu for pieces/picks, and we need to draft better. It's the philosophy that needs to be changed. That won't happen. A rebuild wont work.
  18. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 09:42 AM) Seaver remember folks won 15 games each year with the Sox with a very good ERA in 1984 and 1985. He was older byt the guy could still pitch. Mark Too bad we can't get NL pitchers of that caliber anymore.
  19. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 08:50 PM) Games such as tonight remind me why Quintana needs to be dealt before next season. Someone with value from the rotation has to be traded to improve this offense. Some flash in the pan FA wont do it, either. Atleast we gained in the draft pic standing! I hate that idea and wouldn't be necessary when they keep wasting money and trades for NL players whose value declines sharply when they put on that Sox uniform. Hopefully Hahn will be stingy trading Q. Let Shark go as well. No more mental midgets. Bring some more kids up.
  20. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 11:55 AM) I appreciate the time and effort put into the start of the thread. To me though it boils down to basically one thing and one thing only regardless of who the Sox keep, trade, sign, draft. GETTING OFF TO A GOOD START. The Sox haven't had a winning month of April since 2009. That means that by May 1st they are usually three, or four or more games behind the leaders. On paper that's not a big deal not with 130 games to go. However, with this organization it seems that once pressure starts to be applied mentally, the players don't respond well. Four games behind to this bunch IS a big deal in my opinion. This team was woefully unprepared to start the season. They were brutal the last 10 days of spring training. They were flat opening day, they were flat again for the home opener. How can that be? Unless Robin and his staff (since I don't think anyone is leaving) changes their ways I don't think it will much matter what the Sox do in the off season again. Ozzie was the same way, thinking spring training was a joke and the results played themselves out for him as expected to his last few years. Just my opinion. Mark That's why I don't like getting layers from losing organizations. Their season is over by mid August and the only thing they can work on is a better free agent contract.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 02:41 PM) I was judging Beckham by his original draft position. That's why I said he may be one of the biggest busts in Sox history. I wasn't talking about the new once a week Beckham we acquired. I'd just as soon see him gone and give Micah his at bats. I don't think so. He's managed to stay in baseball much longer. He has value as a utility player. Unfortunately guys like him get exposed when you have a weak hitting lineup.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 04:57 PM) They'll undoubtedly play about as well as that team as currently constituted. Yep. Hate those uniforms. The fat guys didn't look so fat in them either.
