QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 07:27 PM) Man I'm sick of s***ty baseball. I paid the recent MLB special of $9.99 so I could keep track of other teams in a race. -

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 04:59 PM) I continually call for a rebuild on this board because it is critical we get one. We require a change in philosophy, new staff, move players like Jose Abreu for pieces/picks, and we need to draft better. It's the philosophy that needs to be changed. That won't happen. A rebuild wont work. -
Is Chris Sale the best pitcher that the Sox have ever had?
kitekrazy replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 09:42 AM) Seaver remember folks won 15 games each year with the Sox with a very good ERA in 1984 and 1985. He was older byt the guy could still pitch. Mark Too bad we can't get NL pitchers of that caliber anymore. -
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 08:50 PM) Games such as tonight remind me why Quintana needs to be dealt before next season. Someone with value from the rotation has to be traded to improve this offense. Some flash in the pan FA wont do it, either. Atleast we gained in the draft pic standing! I hate that idea and wouldn't be necessary when they keep wasting money and trades for NL players whose value declines sharply when they put on that Sox uniform. Hopefully Hahn will be stingy trading Q. Let Shark go as well. No more mental midgets. Bring some more kids up.

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 11:55 AM) I appreciate the time and effort put into the start of the thread. To me though it boils down to basically one thing and one thing only regardless of who the Sox keep, trade, sign, draft. GETTING OFF TO A GOOD START. The Sox haven't had a winning month of April since 2009. That means that by May 1st they are usually three, or four or more games behind the leaders. On paper that's not a big deal not with 130 games to go. However, with this organization it seems that once pressure starts to be applied mentally, the players don't respond well. Four games behind to this bunch IS a big deal in my opinion. This team was woefully unprepared to start the season. They were brutal the last 10 days of spring training. They were flat opening day, they were flat again for the home opener. How can that be? Unless Robin and his staff (since I don't think anyone is leaving) changes their ways I don't think it will much matter what the Sox do in the off season again. Ozzie was the same way, thinking spring training was a joke and the results played themselves out for him as expected to his last few years. Just my opinion. Mark That's why I don't like getting layers from losing organizations. Their season is over by mid August and the only thing they can work on is a better free agent contract.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 02:41 PM) I was judging Beckham by his original draft position. That's why I said he may be one of the biggest busts in Sox history. I wasn't talking about the new once a week Beckham we acquired. I'd just as soon see him gone and give Micah his at bats. I don't think so. He's managed to stay in baseball much longer. He has value as a utility player. Unfortunately guys like him get exposed when you have a weak hitting lineup.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 04:57 PM) They'll undoubtedly play about as well as that team as currently constituted. Yep. Hate those uniforms. The fat guys didn't look so fat in them either.
-
QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 10:27 PM) for me, the impression i am getting is, if the sox keep loosing, might as well do it for the draft pick, esp if it is protected top 10. i think, i see for the most part disgruntle fans trying to look at the bright side . Yawn. They'll draft another pitcher.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 10:13 AM) I don't blame Kenny Williams for our inability to develop position players. I'd fire Buddy Bell for that. and maybe Kenny wanted to fire him but JR said no
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 09:45 PM) Mark, you make some good points. I don't think anyone is saying the White Sox as an organization are run as well as the Cardinals have been over the past 10-15 years. However, that doesn't lead one to the conclusion that our FO should be fired, either. I would think getting fired in this organization is hard to do. There is no doubt there is contentment in mediocrity and they even fail at that.

I HATE THIS TEAM!

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Aug 18, 2015 -> 10:45 PM) I think 2k5 is on the right track. I think the Sox know he doesn't have what it takes "between the ears" as Hawk says. Sox don't trust him and don't want to expose him. He's trade material this offseason is my bet. He'd fit right in.

8/18- White Sox @ Angels 9:05 PM CT
kitekrazy replied to Jose Abreu's topic in 2015 Season in Review
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 18, 2015 -> 12:23 PM) With Danks pitching against a good team, we could be in for a good performance. Keep in mind, they hit us three times yesterday, so we may retaliate. So 3 HBP and they still lost. -
I would think the odds are in favor of Flowers. He's caught more games and probably knows the hitters better. How did a ROY like Soto fall so fast? Maybe it's a Chicago curse.
-
QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Aug 16, 2015 -> 10:18 AM) With the trend of young pitchers exploding onto the scene and contributing right away, teams could be less inclined to throw away a first round pick and $100 mil at a pitcher with a career ERA of over 4.00 Owners/GMs are reckless when it comes to paying even for mediocre pitching. I don't think Shark can be successful pitching in the AL. He's even more inconsistent than Danks. I find it odd that an organization who habitually drafts pitchers only to get veteran pitchers in trades. They need to scout hitters or get scouts who are good at finding potential hitters. Then evaluate those developing them and see if those people are worthy of keeping their jobs. If they did this maybe the the money wasted on aging NL hitters would give them a better chance of getting a decent veteran starter.

The Sox should maybe trade for Hanley Ramirez

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 18, 2015 -> 10:05 AM) Another guy in his 30's, had some injuries, has issues attitude-wise. I think Hahn is trying to get away from that as much as he is allowed to. I'll pass on this one. Mark Next is realizing NL veterans and veteran players from consistently losing organizations have not helped. -
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 15, 2015 -> 08:17 PM) I hate the Cubs and ND always have always will since 70's. I hate our pen's mental midget performances. Nice job Pepuka and Puke.
-
QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 06:12 PM) Give Peavy credit. He has pitched bigger games than Shark. Also, notice this game was not particularly big. It just stings a little more because of the opponent. People still buy into the Peavy talk and are blind to the performance. BTW Peavy's post season is far from stellar. I don't remember him showing up for those games for the Sox in August.

8-14-15 Cubs vs Sox 3:10CDT (Hendricks vs Samardzija)
kitekrazy replied to jasonxctf's topic in 2015 Season in Review
Shark is a mental midget. There will be a GM dumb enough to pay him $15M a year. Danks will have a better season than him. Once again filling the holes from the NL just doesn't work. Their value declines to the point we can't trade them back to the NL. -
You would think most catchers would throw the ball to first anyway. You would think after the 2005 post season some would learn from AJ did as a base runner.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 10:11 AM) Honestly the entire pen was great last night. Even Robertson got screwed because of his defense. Realistically the pen didn't give up a run from the 8th to the 13th inning if Abreu makes the right choice. I didn't get to see the game so I wondered what happened because Robertson is making his way on my mental midget list.
