QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 07:16 AM) Let's hear some names. I'll start with some obvious ones that'll get tossed around: 1. Ozzie Guillen- His .524 winning percentage with the Sox is a lot better than Ventura's. Left on bad terms though. 2. Dave Martinez- The next great manager according to everyone but the 30 GMs running teams. Worrisome that he hasn't been hired yet, particularly by the Rays. 3. Joe McEwing- Perennial managerial and been with the Sox awhile now. Good 3rd base coach outside whatever the f*** 2 nights ago was. 4. Sandy Alomar Jr- The coveted catcher to manager move. Being groomed as a manager by the Indians. Obvious Sox ties. 5. Joey Cora- Key part of the Guillen "glory days" but without the shenanigans. Vanderbilt educated. So why are these people not appealing to other teams?

Another mental midget performance by the pen? Too much choke and no clutch with this organization.

Sox have tried to sign Samardzija to a long term deal

If you want ace money then act like one. He's the new Javier Vasquez. -
QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 07:03 AM) i like it. i would shelf sale for the season, if beck was in any condition. time to see how the pitchers performed in aug. some can say, it is a trail run for the majors pitching or another spring training session or something wittier than that. This is the most ridiculous thing in professional sports. Athletes are there to compete. Some are at a level where inactivity produces regression. You can't treat these guys like glass. You can't plan around injury. Remember Sale couldn't start the season it wasn't baseball related.

7/31 White Sox vs Yankees 7:10 PM CT

I get tied of after the starter getting bombed the pen needs to capitalize with a mental midget performance by giving up more runs. -
There went my hopes of them being undefeated the rest of the season.

QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 01:02 PM) ahhhh. ref to Jr.... umm he is one of the owners so yeah. for humor purpose only. JR absolutely is a "hands-on" owner. I've been told by my sources that more than once, for example, he has "suggested" whom the Sox should pick in the June draft. Which puts his scouting / development folks in an awkward situation. How many times would you feel comfortable going against the wishes of your boss? Mark

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 11:06 AM) This run reminds me of the 2000 White Sox who had the big 8 game winning streak on the road, which pretty well put away the 2000 divisional title. Anyone else? No. We've seen the pattern when they get close to or slightly above .500 they tank. August is usually mental midget month. This is when they get owned by teams they should beat. I want to be so wrong on this.

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 10:32 AM) Kenny himself told the media in June that before anything happens regarding the Sox roster Hahn and his staff have to come to him to lkabout it. I strongly appears that he has the authority to say no to anything Hahn does or does not wan to do. Mark That may be more common than people think. Such things as poor defense, scouting, minor league instruction, tells me Kenny and J.R. are still in control.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 07:23 PM) If people don't want to watch the Sox, then just don't watch them. We're better off without fair-weather fans. Just don't come back when we start winning. Am I the only one that finds these statements beyond silly. How wold this attitude apply in the real world outside of professional sports?

There's a game tonight, right? Sox vs Cards

Another mental midget performance. But maybe teams will start to look at Danks before the trade deadline. -

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 20, 2015 -> 06:35 AM) One to six over .500 is not playing well when you're competing for the division. They slow down and get "tired" arms and malaise quite often. 2005 was 68-35 (.661) April-July. Why didn't this happen to the Twins and Tigers? -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 20, 2015 -> 05:12 AM) Who can explain why almost every single White Sox team since 2000 has played poorly in August and September...? If we're not calling it momentum....either out of spring training or at the end of the year, what phrase should we use? Lack of focus, discipline, preparation, etc.? Or consistently in the first inning this year? Bad luck....umpires still hate the Sox because of Ozzie? The talent sucks but Hahn's doing a simply splendid job in a competing, theoretical universe that we just can't see with our own eyes? Mental weakness and getting players from losing organizations. They are more unclutch than clutch. Players from losing organizations go through the motions playing out the last two months. -

QUOTE (shysocks @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 02:38 PM) There are a lot of potential conflicts of interest. I don't think we should be taking ideas from soccer anyway, soccer is dumb. Post of the week!

QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 11:24 AM) that was harsh. By a mod no less and he's also wrong. Classless.

Stink spreads.

Robertson may be the newest member of the mental midget club.

Look at that. Sox are not the only one at bad base running.

Who is the bloke to choke? Mental midget time.

QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 02:15 PM) If you kept the starting rotation, minus Danks, along with Avi, Abreu, and Eaton in the field, then brought all minor leaguers up to fill out the roster, would we be able to tell the difference, record-wise? I doubt it. Maybe Jerry and Ozzie can have a Steinbrenner/Billy Martin relationship. Steinbrenner would b**** about how his guys played. "The more we mess up the more he flies in the better chance of a plane crash." Craig Nettles I don't think a modern day pussified player could tolerate Billy Martin who was a good manager. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 12:27 PM) And while I agree, if you're down enough on this franchise as I am such that you expect this team to continue losing for several years...comparing "rebuilding with the best pieces we could get for Chris Sale" and "letting Chris Sale be the dominant player on a losing team until he is traded in 2018 or gets hurt" at least motivates consideration of the "take the best offer you can" option. Ugh! This logic would work with most organizations. The Sox are bad at evaluating and developing players. It's a crap shoot. -

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 10:51 AM) Out with Williams and Hahn, in with STEVE STONE. That's right, you heard me - put Stoney in charge of the whole production! He's always wanted to be a GM, and he's certainly smart enough to do so. The timing is right as he's at the end of his TV contract at the end of this season. He would pass the Jerry Reinsdorf loyalty program smell test, while at the same time he would bring in a new and fresh perspective on how to run an organization. And then once you install him in as GM or exec. VP of baseball ops or whatever, then let him find the right baseball mind to run things in the dugout. I heard another Steve Stone say he had no desire to do this. He likes what he's doing now. -

QUOTE (shysocks @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 09:00 AM) First of all, I'm not answering a ****ing survey question to read that column. Why do newspapers not seem to understand how the internet works in 2015? Never mind, I think I know the answer. EDIT: Clicked the link again and I didn't have to take a survey. Whatever. That column's only function was to throw raw meat to the dogs. Second, if you are calling for the White Sox to hire Ozzie, you are not thinking critically about the team. It is a lazy and stupid suggestion. That's how Ventura was hired.
