My view on managers in general- RV in particular

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 04:56 PM) So you like being a loser!!!!! I am assuming you did not play any competitive sports. I doubt any players are happy playing on this team at this point. I'm assuming you never played professional sports. It's about the paycheck. By your theory Robertson would have signed with someone else. I think players are happy here. There's no accountability for threat of replacement because it applies to everyone in the whole organization. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 09:16 AM) Is Robin saying something wrong here? Isn't the job having the pitchers ready for the 1st inning on Don Cooper? He is the one with them in the bullpen. He is the self proclaimed manager of the pitching staff. Some of that also has to be on the pitcher and catcher. They are suppose to know the scouting reports on hitters. -
QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 10:10 AM) didn't Hahn just hired some sort of office exec this offseason. i remember posting about how 1 person will doing the same thing Bell is doing but with no title. That doesn't sound like something Reinsdorf would do.

I have a theory the reason why Ventura was hired is that any experienced manager would not want the job considering the future is bleak. I believe Ozzie knew that and wanted out. I would think an experienced manager would like his team tailored to to the way he thinks they can win. That is not the White Sox way. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 12:57 PM) It's the curse of any team with a "process" going against the White Sox. The Royals, the Cubs, the Astros...and the Twins with Terry Ryan once again are putting together one of the most impressive collections of young talent in the game. When the Tigers can outspend you by 25-30%, the Twins have you beat on the development front, the Royals with their bullpen/speed/defense combination...you better damn well find a competitive niche somewhere. Heck, the Indians even have their thing, which is their starting rotation depth. For the White Sox, it has been Cubans, Don Cooper, our training/conditioning staff limiting DL time and our propensity to find pots of gold under the rainbows of Chris Sale, Carlos Rodon and now Fulmer (pitchers with questionable mechanics). When they regressed, they fired some people. Not the Sox. How many Josh Fields does it take for people to lose their jobs?

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 09:55 AM) Everything is lax, or it seems that way. Mark Gonzalez who use to cover the Sox will tell you that.

Should the Sox make an example out of someone?

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 09:48 PM) And this is why the organization has turned into crap. No direction and a lack of accountability. I'm beyond frustrated with this piss poor play. dj even called out Eaton and Alexei during the radio call today saying they look extremely sloppy and their approach is awful. If Hahn doesn't do something soon, I will question him as a GM. Who the hell is in charge here? Hahn doesn't have the freedom like most GMs. -

QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 09:09 PM) I'm not sure that I want him more involved. I don't quite understand why everyone is so apt to give Hahn a pass while denigrating KW as an incompetent. I agree with that assessment, but who was his right-hand man all those years? Where is the future? The big league squad is horrible, the farm system is better (compared to what it was), but its still not really having a very good year in terms of seeing prospects elevating their games and improving. The entire franchise needs an overhaul. If that included telling Hahn and KW to go grab a begging cup, I wouldn't lose too much sleep. I will never, ever, ever, ever, never, believe this. They have the same people running the show. Anyone they bring up that is not a pitcher is often baseball clueless. There are not enough Spring trainings for this organization to work on fundamentals. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 08:16 PM) If you rebuild, you better have good talent scouts and developers I'd say the evidence so far in this century is that they don't. This is where the whole trade for prospects idea will not work. I wonder how many former big league managers would want to run this team that has no future.
-
QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 05:23 PM) i agree, i have been waiting for some one to start this. but the rtn would be really too much for a team willing to pay. imagine 4 top rated prospects plus at 2 pitcher in the start line up. that is my demands. Which is a waste unless they are ready to play. Remember this organization is beyond terrible at developing players.
-
QUOTE (chisoxt @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 02:46 PM) This organization is killing itself by throwing money at mediocre talent - that's why they have to put money into player development instead of chasing after mediocre 30+ free agents That's a waste. There is where the accountability is the least. No position player development and yet the people involved keep their jobs.
-
A former reporter said the problem with the organization is that it laid back. That's why they get free agents to come here. Then the organization sucks at developing position players so the roster become casual. Players like Ramirez can't be benched because there is no one to replace him. Maybe a few on the pitching staff may fear they can be replaced but not the position players. How many other organizations that have been this poor at developing position players would keep the same people in tact. There is no accountability other than low attendance. They need to sell this team to someone who might care a little bit more.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 10, 2015 -> 10:38 AM) They blew it up in 2013 and just let the team suck in general in 2014. This year looked great on paper, but the crime is poor coaching right now. That runs deep in the organization.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 07:27 AM) Whenever I hear a White Sox front office person comment on a prospect, I barf and take it with a grain of salt. It reminds me of the Detroit Lions under Matt Millen when their 1st pick every year was a WR. No doubt you take the best player but this organization just can't produce position players. -
It's the try the same thing and hope for something new approach. Don't stop now boys.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2015 -> 03:49 PM) Very bad loss....so many of the reasons this team has underachieved showed up today. I think this happens when the Sox get players from losing organizations or the NL.

QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 11:34 AM) If Williams and Hahn are teflon, could they at least get rid of some scouts / advisors? Whoever thought that giving Melky Cabrera and Adam Laroche those deals was a good idea needs to be gone. There are teams with far better track records of seeing things that the White Sox obviously don't. Who was the last non-pitcher that they "hit" on? Everybody and their brother was in on Abreu, so I don't include him. They are under the Reinsdorf loyalty program. I never have a problem with their scouting big leaguers, it's the farm system where everyone needs to go. The organization is terrible developing/scouting position players. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 2, 2015 -> 10:55 PM) There are at least 8-10. He's got a guaranteed contract from Hahn for the near future...his OPS has rebounded in May to more or less his normal levels in 2014, the problem was that atrocious start will weigh down his overall stats for another month or two despite how well he plays. There are plenty of problems with his decision-making both defensively (mostly on throwing) and on the basepaths, but he's a Top 8-10 CF in MLB when he's on his game, like he was for most of last season. He also needs to pick up his walk rate...anyway, DeAza's no longer with the Orioles, and the White Sox don't have ANYONE who can play everyday to replace Cabrera, Eaton or Garcia. Most common theory is the new contract caused him to put too much pressure on himself to "be the man" and "stir the drink" instead of staying within himself. http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/batting/_/pos.../OPS/order/true It doesn't take other teams very long to realize a guy can't play baseball. -

Lack of fundamentals through the organization seems to be KW trademark he's running things. Reinsdorf's loyalty program and KW's baseball philosophy are what will hold this organization back. -
QUOTE (LDF @ May 31, 2015 -> 09:21 PM) Masterson performance on a another team will not tell the story if he was with the sox. plus lets look at what he was done this yr. 2-2 win/lost and a 1 yr contract. filling in on the sox as a #4 starter, who knows what that could have done or helped. Well the pattern seems to be players worse when they join the Sox.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ May 30, 2015 -> 09:44 AM) The Twins have a had a pretty easy schedule. Now the Royals are 29-18 while the Twins are 28-19. Kansas City vs. teams +.500 is 20-13 while Minnesota vs. teams +.500 is 9-11 So Kansas City has played 33 of 47 games against good teams in essence while Minnesota has played 20 of 47 games against above .500 opponents. But the Twins are winning games they're supposed to if they want to be a good team so credit to them. Anyone keep up with the Twins/Blue Jays game last night? Buerhle gave up 4 runs and 5 hits in the first inning. Then faced the minimum the last 8 innings only giving up 1 hit. Buerhle had 45 pitches after 2 innings, then only 66 the last 7 innings. Edit: Just saw the Rays are under. 500 now so that means only 17 of 47 games for Minnesota have been with teams at or above. 500. That's where you take advantage. The has been the Sox weakness for some time.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 31, 2015 -> 09:24 AM) They were pissed he was signed, and even more pissed he made the team out of sprimg training. I thought it was great as a utility infielder. It's probably their best FA signing.
