  1. Never pronounce Bill's last name wrong. First sign of being clueless. I think he is trying too hard.
  2. Me too except I watched Cubs vs. D'Backs on Fox with AJ and our former announcer.
  3. Wasn't he in Birmingham? It seems like the plan in this organization is to skip AAA,
  4. those ratings and team records are similar
  5. That is quitting. His biggest weakness is diplomacy in everything. Besides he came from the Royals. They were a reversed s%*# sandwich, bread in the middle, s%*# on the outside. He's use to losing.
  6. They seem to have better luck at dumpster dives. I don't think it is impossible with 3 lightning in a bottle guys to flirt with .500. Strange things have happened in baseball. Imagine if there were 2 solid guys in the pen - oh wait they would be traded #MakeBirminghamBetter, I will not be surprised with this new playoff system there will be a team that maybe won 79 games,
  7. as in habitual losing small market organizations other than that I can't buy into another reality They seem to get a lot of things wrong. I get Reinsdorf not wanting to spend money since he is bad at it. The organization is terrible at scouting. JR seems like a guy into loyalty over performance (see Chris Getz). That his biggest weakness. Unfortunately there's not enough fans who are into loyalty over performance.
  8. #MakeBirminghamBetter - nice pitching prospects but as far as hitting a baseball, it doesn't look good. They would have to spend money to improve that and not on veteran NL players either.
  9. #MakeBirminghamBetter We are fans of of another habitual losing small market team. I wonder if Dodger, Yankee, Braves, Oriolesm fans are into the prospect humping. I guess they trade to bring someone up that is more than ready to play. Trading Robert will continue to create that everlasting hole in CF. The Sox still can't fill 3B. #MakeBirminghamBetter
  10. I could see Vaughn going to another team and getting better. Ever since the TLR era hitting has gotten worse and yet players have yet to overcome it. Good organizations will also send a player down to work on something. He's still a wasted 1st round pick.
  11. Habitual losing small market teams do this only in hopes of getting something at the trade deadline. #MakeBirminghamBetter
  12. They are equally bad a scouting MLB players. I get it if you play cautious in free agency but then put the money in development and fire those who are not good at it. If they are good then pay them well.
  13. I'd give credit more to the organization he came from.
  14. How many times did he say show up and we'll make the team better. How does that work in the pizza business?
  15. Maybe he gets better if he starts to know the game. The footprint of stupidity was pronouncing Veeck's name wrong. It's a first in my world.
  16. You have to wonder if players eventually see him as bad for baseball. I get it they want the most money possible. Then you have players crying collusion in a sport that seems to be dwindling in popularity. That exists more in the world of sports.
  17. You finally figured out the flawed psychology of baseball. It is an unpredictable sport. Trading to today for tomorrow doesn't work for the habitually losing franchises. If you put s%*# on the field people don't go and people don't watch. TV revenue is important. Jerry has turned this organization into the A's the suckwell. Prospects are not immune to TJ surgery or becoming a Jake Burger. Yet you can divorce the idea from more involved fans to realize it's rare the return was worth the risk. Farm system rankings are overrated as with prospect rankings, some fans are already declaring Montgomery a bust. The worst thing about baseball is it has more than enough bad ownership. Every s%*# team that has a good player the word trade pops up. Even Ozzie joked about that after the Cannon performance. Baseball doesn't really allow for cheap ownership. If one wants to a buy a MLB franchise they better investigate the large amount of overhead and have an ego for winning. The business of baseball is not very fan friendly. In a few years I would not be surprised if the WNBA ratings exceed MLB.
  18. Unfortunately he is already on that team that would buy into that poor decision making. There's always a minuscule chance they get a prospect that could actually do something. Most likely it ends up being filler material for the minors or that player who is still in A ball in their 30's.
  19. Then they can do that to the guy they traded for.
  20. I bet he's on a lot of GM's easily duped lists.
  21. You nailed it. Unfortunately you follow the myth of several years away. Anything could happen. The "core" could go on an injury spree or that young arm has TJ surgery. You treat the actions of improving as a given. I'd say it happens less and you forget the organization we are talking about. We seems to be conditioned to this mindset and seem to ignore the results.
  22. That's because we have the standards of a habitual losing small market. Maybe people in Nashville could tolerate that for 5 years.
  23. It's a mental illness among fans in the belief trading to get better. It may work for some organizations but not this one. I'd say the ones where it works is they improved in scouting and development.
