  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 28, 2014 -> 11:30 AM) Jake says that someone is going to have to tear the jersey off of him before he retires. That's not the only thing I'm gonna be tearing off Jakey boy. I don't think that's a problem if it says "OvaaaahRated" on the back. I still don't get the fascination with this guy. He can't pitch in a big game. He will be like Edwin Jackson and Bobby Bonds finding a team to take him.
  2. I'd give their organization more credit than the manager.
  3. Danks seemed to be getting better at the end of the season. That might be something to look forward to.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 23, 2014 -> 09:40 PM) http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/10/...re-low-so-what/ World Series ratings are low again, SO WHAT? Remember NBC Monday Night Baseball. When cable expanded, the Braves were on TBS, USA use to have a game of the week. Baseball seems to have lost nat'l exposure. Now it's on Saturday and it's presentation is done poorly. I prefer to have broadcasters and journalists. Former athletes ruin it for me. I can't even watch the NFL anymore.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 22, 2014 -> 06:37 PM) Royals hitting Peavy? Where have I seen this before? When he isn't on IR.
  6. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Oct 1, 2014 -> 07:43 PM) Adam wasn't what we needed him to be. That seems to be the case when the Sox invest in veteran NL talent. I hope they stop that.
  7. Being a hitting coach is one of those jobs asking to get fired. I think they are more important in the minor league system. I bet the Sox don't have any good ones there.
  8. I find mid season trades don't really pay off until the next season.
  9. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 2, 2014 -> 08:28 AM) I think some people on this board are really over-valuing draft picks. 1st rounders are obviously important, but losing 2nd & 3rd round picks should never sway you from adding an impact player, at least if you think you're team is close to being competitive. And I get you also lose their bonus allotment, but when you're trying to add outside talent and the trade-off is losing a pick/bonus or trading away partially developed prospects, I'm going to sacrifice the unknown commodity first every single time. As for position players I believe the instruction at the minor league level is not very good. They can only produce DH/1B which any organization can do that.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 2, 2014 -> 11:43 PM) Pretty amazing that DeAza turned out to be a great addition for Baltimore. He really really stunk the past 2 seasons in Chicago. Two RBI and hits today again. No, it's that he isn't surrounded by other people who are bad at baseball.
  11. Buddy Bell D- Sox are fundamentally flawed. That drivels down to the instructors and scouts in this organization. Base running is beyond bad. As Steve Stone said, "get better base runners".
  12. This whole thing seems stupid and does not reflect well on a team bad a baseball. The bullpen still sucks. Too bad they didn't get the crap beat out of them which usually happens when they are on the mound.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 08:54 PM) Olbermann right again. Excellent rant. The Jeter worship is getting kind of old. I bet it's because he's a career Yankee and not a cheat like most of his teammates.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 22, 2014 -> 08:30 PM) I'm sick of the Tigers' domination of the Central. I'd love it if somehow they lost the wildcard game, as well. Something tells me they are built for the playoffs, however and this is finally their year to win it all. Hopefully they'll get it out of their system and the dynasty will be over. They are not that great. Still suspect on defense, bullpen could be better and they are not good at fundamentals. These things do get exposed deeper into the playoffs.
  15. QUOTE (MAX @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 03:24 PM) No. I wouldn't. I'd look for someone to better fill that closer role. Reed was awful. Pitching in the NL is easier than the AL. Reed probably wouldn't look bad in the Sox pen but stink seems to spread on this team.
  16. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 09:32 PM) Ventura has no feel for his bullpen. Ventura should be spreading the action anyway in the waning days of the season. Petricka pitched 1.1 last night as it is. He should punch them all in the nuts. I still hate the bullpen. Robin probably does too.
  17. I don't get the trade Alexi mentality unless it is something impossible to say no to. He seems the type of player who will get old around 42. He's one of the best SS and replacing him from the farm system will probably be another one of those deficits the Sox jinx themselves for years.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 05:39 PM) Konerko blows the easy double play ball...but gets one out at 1B. Viciedo had a nice defensive play to hold JD Martinez at a single before that. Tigers' announcers, for some reason, believe Josh Phegley is a very good defensive catcher. Clutch double by Omar Infante gives the Royals an early 2-0 lead. Battle of fireballers with Ventura and Danny Salazar. Royals should be up 4 or 5 to 0, but with that bullpen, they only need to get the game to the 6th or 7th with the lead. Cano got a two out 2 run-scoring single after Ackley K'ed with the bases loaded and one out to give the M's a 2-1 lead over the Blue Jays in the 4th. Josh says, "Oh no I'm not. Watch this".
  19. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 20, 2014 -> 07:51 PM) Assuming a Royals loss in the suspended game: A's 84-70 Mariners 83-71 Royals 83-71 Remaining schedules: A's- 1 vs Phillies, 3 vs Angels, 4 at Rangers Mariners- 1 at Astros, 4 at Blue Jays, 3 vs Angels Royals- 1 vs Tigers, 3 at Indians, 4 at White Sox I hope they all end at 88-74. More baseball. Post of the week.
  20. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 20, 2014 -> 09:30 PM) I am not ready to give up on Avi everything since he has been back is all bonus for 2014. He will be getting nothing but better next year. Yet everyone tolerated Viciedo for 3 years. Besides who are you gonna replace him with? The farm?
  21. So is anyone still awake watching this game?
  22. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Sep 17, 2014 -> 05:08 PM) Just constant s*** talking about the Sox. They implied Conor was scared in his bases loaded AB. They constantly talked about how awful the Sox bullpen was and every thing that happened was confirmation of why the Sox are 13 under and blah blah blah. I mean, you're the f***ing Royals. Surely you know bad baseball when you see it and don't need to constantly drone on about it. Seeing Conor hit that triple after they basically questioned his manhood was one of the top moments this season for me as a viewer. It was great. I hope the Sox help knock them out of the playoffs the arrogance of their announcing crew for a team that historically has sucked donkey dick was just very off putting. You can pump up your own team without constant bashing of the other team. That's something Hawk even does. There was also about Abreu should not be eligible for ROY since they have "professional" baseball in Cuba.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 15, 2014 -> 09:41 PM) I had Royals fans texting me throughout the game and I told them not to worry that they would win because our bullpen is the worst in baseball. I had to text them and say 'I told you so' even though I hate people who say I told you so. Royals fans are really really pathetic. They are more pessimistic than I am, on the rare occasions the Sox have a good team. Losing is a habit. I don't like acquiring players from those organizations. As for the Sox they can only play baseball through July.
