  1. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 09:32 PM) Ventura has no feel for his bullpen. Ventura should be spreading the action anyway in the waning days of the season. Petricka pitched 1.1 last night as it is. He should punch them all in the nuts. I still hate the bullpen. Robin probably does too.
  2. I don't get the trade Alexi mentality unless it is something impossible to say no to. He seems the type of player who will get old around 42. He's one of the best SS and replacing him from the farm system will probably be another one of those deficits the Sox jinx themselves for years.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 05:39 PM) Konerko blows the easy double play ball...but gets one out at 1B. Viciedo had a nice defensive play to hold JD Martinez at a single before that. Tigers' announcers, for some reason, believe Josh Phegley is a very good defensive catcher. Clutch double by Omar Infante gives the Royals an early 2-0 lead. Battle of fireballers with Ventura and Danny Salazar. Royals should be up 4 or 5 to 0, but with that bullpen, they only need to get the game to the 6th or 7th with the lead. Cano got a two out 2 run-scoring single after Ackley K'ed with the bases loaded and one out to give the M's a 2-1 lead over the Blue Jays in the 4th. Josh says, "Oh no I'm not. Watch this".
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 20, 2014 -> 07:51 PM) Assuming a Royals loss in the suspended game: A's 84-70 Mariners 83-71 Royals 83-71 Remaining schedules: A's- 1 vs Phillies, 3 vs Angels, 4 at Rangers Mariners- 1 at Astros, 4 at Blue Jays, 3 vs Angels Royals- 1 vs Tigers, 3 at Indians, 4 at White Sox I hope they all end at 88-74. More baseball. Post of the week.
  5. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 20, 2014 -> 09:30 PM) I am not ready to give up on Avi everything since he has been back is all bonus for 2014. He will be getting nothing but better next year. Yet everyone tolerated Viciedo for 3 years. Besides who are you gonna replace him with? The farm?
  6. So is anyone still awake watching this game?
  7. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Sep 17, 2014 -> 05:08 PM) Just constant s*** talking about the Sox. They implied Conor was scared in his bases loaded AB. They constantly talked about how awful the Sox bullpen was and every thing that happened was confirmation of why the Sox are 13 under and blah blah blah. I mean, you're the f***ing Royals. Surely you know bad baseball when you see it and don't need to constantly drone on about it. Seeing Conor hit that triple after they basically questioned his manhood was one of the top moments this season for me as a viewer. It was great. I hope the Sox help knock them out of the playoffs the arrogance of their announcing crew for a team that historically has sucked donkey dick was just very off putting. You can pump up your own team without constant bashing of the other team. That's something Hawk even does. There was also about Abreu should not be eligible for ROY since they have "professional" baseball in Cuba.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 15, 2014 -> 09:41 PM) I had Royals fans texting me throughout the game and I told them not to worry that they would win because our bullpen is the worst in baseball. I had to text them and say 'I told you so' even though I hate people who say I told you so. Royals fans are really really pathetic. They are more pessimistic than I am, on the rare occasions the Sox have a good team. Losing is a habit. I don't like acquiring players from those organizations. As for the Sox they can only play baseball through July.
  9. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 15, 2014 -> 10:35 PM) That's White Sox baseball in 2014. It's almost an oxymoron.
  10. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Sep 12, 2014 -> 10:10 PM) So, who's choking harder right now, the A's or Royals? Outside of James Shields, saw a ton of not ready for prime time from KC this week. Having Yost as the mgr. probably not helpful at a time like this. When losing becomes a habit it is hard to shake. Somewhere in 2011 someone on a non Sox board was probably saying the same thing about the White Sox.
  11. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 13, 2014 -> 04:25 AM) According to what you've said, the ONLY this team can rebuild and make you happy is to rebuild through trading, which is VERY hard to do when your major league team is full of young players, and your minor league system is bad. and when the system is good you create the vicious circle that we have now
  12. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Sep 13, 2014 -> 08:11 AM) I'm just grateful they didn't move to Sarasota back in the late 80's. The Sox are still here, us fans have a nice stadium to watch a game at and we can tail gate One thing that I do occasionally think about is the fact they were pretty close to building the new park in Addison, IL. I wonder how that could have changed things? Outdoor sports don't seem draw well in Florida. When the Dolphins under Dan Marino were in the post season you could walk up before game time and buy a ticket. I'd like to see the Sox move out of state if only for more revenue but at the same time the community is so much better than when there was Comiskey Park. I'd prefer they stay as oppose to have that area get run down.
  13. f*** political correctness. It is the most damning religion in this country. It's stench first started in Europe and now they are starting to see the error of their ways. Most girls throw different than boys. Go watch a school mixed PE class.
  14. We're still in triple digits. I might watch CLE vs. DET on MLB.
  15. QUOTE (ron883 @ Sep 11, 2014 -> 04:57 PM) What do you think? I think the Sox owe it to him. He has been pure class during his tenure with the Sox. Liked by everybody, and just a great guy. Reminds me of Thome. I hope Jerry gives him a job in the future, if he wants one. Please explain. We have more than enough former players and so far I can't see any benefit to that idea.
  16. It was great to see some nice quality starts this series.
  17. I hope they keep Bassit in for a while. I'm sick of seeing the pen. The worst could happen is the Sox lose.
  18. QUOTE (ptatc @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 08:10 PM) I really like him. I saw him pitch live last week. He is going to be a good 4-5 pitcher. Maybe 3 at the ceiling. He's smart, knows how to pitch and usually gets strike 1. He's not going to be an All-Start but he is going to be a useful pitcher in the rotation. Coop 'll fix him.
  19. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 10:14 AM) I was watching the cubs yesterday because of the Blue Jays starting pitcher and Len Kasper seems to almost be over the top in trying to use advanced metics to explain the game. He was trying at one point to explain how Jose Bautista was clutch but that there is no such thing as clutch he is just a very good hitter. There seems to be this growing crowd that feels that baseball is a mathematical problem to be solved with each pitch and the game itself and score is secondary. kasper is damn good but sometimes I was like......huh? Sometimes a .500 pitcher on a bad team is still a .500 pitcher on a good team. I know people don't think a pitching record matters but guys have won 15 or more on teams with a losing record. Some players bring confidence to a team with their presence. I thought Jack McDowell was that kind of guy. So is Chris Sale.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 10:59 PM) I thought we were going to be more like the Yankees after we won it all in 05. I was hoping we'd always re-stock with GOOD free agents. This other way isn't going to get the Sox back into the postseason anytime soon. They improved the team on paper in 2006. Dynasties don't exist anymore. A WS victory seems to happen when a bunch of guys have career years.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 09:45 AM) This was pretty awesome. http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/father...-white-sox-game "What a great shot that is; that's baseball." Great comment.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 09:12 PM) The September call-ups have been awful. Goes to show you how bad the talent in the high minors is/was for the Sox That's a constant that Hahn needs to fix. I wonder if he has that power.
