  1. So why did they take Danks out?
  2. How many future 1B/DH can this organization produce? I interpret it as not being good at catching a baseball. The Tank experiment started at 3B then OF. I often wondered if the glove wasn't there to begin with how much can there be improved at a higher level of baseball? Or is it the quality of instruction is not there? In the KW era it was all about getting athletes instead of baseball players. There was a lot of bad defense coming out of the minors. Hitting is important but so many other deficient things show up that change a season or post season. I have no idea what Hahn's philosophies are and Buddy Bell was in charge during the KW era. Is that a good thing? It appear they believe in hone grown pitching but they seem to not be efficient outside of that. If you look at the team's better player, they did not com from the system or they spent very little time in it.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 02:51 PM) If Danks is exhausted now, then shutting him down now could also lead to him being exhausted at around this time next year. If he's that tired, then skip a start, that's fine and maybe a good idea to keep him from getting hurt via overexertion, but don't shut him down. I never understood the concept of shutting someone down in any sport. If they didn't love to compete they wouldn't be athletes. Trying to plan to avoid injuries doesn't always work either.
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 05:34 AM) Ned Yost calls out Royals fans for not coming out to the park http://www.kansascity.com/sports/spt-colum...cle1306960.html Losing is a habit. I guess they will show up next year if the team wins the division.
  5. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 11:47 AM) I think that we have a DH on Saturday. The first game (makeup game) is at 12:10 PM Chicago time but the TV game is on WGN at 5:10 PM in the MDT zone I guess this thread will not happen next year since WGN America will no longer have Sox or Cubs.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 06:52 AM) I want to vote Norberto Martin. Why isn't he an option? I wanted a punch the bullpen in the nuts option.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 10:59 PM) Robin should quit after this season and give another former player a shot at it. He deserves a break from this bullpen madness. Make him third base coach for a season if he wants to be in a big league uniform, still. Ugh, I'm tired of former players. Few have success. There's probably enough of them ruining the minor league system as well.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Aug 25, 2014 -> 07:59 AM) Twins too, maybe Indians and Tigers, I'd be far beyond satisfied, amazing how underrated he is to this day, what a great player, that's what happens when you shut up and play the game right IF we didn't have Adam Dunn, he would put up decent numbers as a DH. In Sept, put Dunn in the pen.
  9. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 09:24 AM) Yeeesh. Aren't you an admin? Don't confuse this site with WSI. I think they've given up over there.
  10. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 09:30 AM) Yeah, it's unfortunate seeing people say that. I always liked Beckham and wanted him to succeed, but it just wasn't meant to be for the Sox. Another guy that comes to mind when thinking about this is Uribe too. He had turned into a pretty terrible hitter by the end of his Sox career and he's gone on to have a really nice career. Uribe was never anything close to a good hitter. It didn't matter in 2005. You put Beckham in the 2005 lineup, his inability to hit would not be a problem. Uribe and Beckham are apples and oranges.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 08:19 PM) The good news is that they're with an organization with a strong record, particularly at the major league level, of immersion in fundamentals, so we can have confidence in them developing these fundamental skills with (spits out water while laughing couldn't finish it). Wow you had me going there for a minute. I'm thinkin" WHHAAAAAAAAAAAAT? There's too much dumb baseball coming out of this organization. (hint at Stone saying get better base runners} The better players on this team spent the less time in the minors.
  12. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 23, 2014 -> 02:46 PM) I believe the White Sox would currently have the #9 pick in the draft. Another top 10 pick would do wonders for the organization. Only if they are close to playing in the big leagues. I believe the minor league instruction sucks until proven otherwise.
  13. QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 23, 2014 -> 02:34 PM) Sox now half a game ahead of twinkies. They're beating up the Tigers.
  14. A Cy Young staff may not be enough to cover the other weaknesses they have.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 11:11 PM) The Will To Win argument comes full circle, lol. How to quantify it? If we can't put a number to it, the idea of mental weakness/intestinal fortitude/clutch...then it therefore doesn't exist. You can put a number to it or can you. 1st place til late July and implosion in August. Not everything needs a number but I've seen enough mental weakness when it was time to show up vs. Twins and even the Tigers. That script rarely changes.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 09:18 PM) He also never seemed committed to the idea of Hector Santiago being a starter, and he would easily be the 3rd best starter on this team. He's facing the A's tonight. I've been watching this on MLB. BTW Beckham is not in the lineup.
  17. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 09:07 PM) At some point RV has to be looked at in the equation. I bet that is happening. It won't matter this year or next.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 09:06 PM) It's amazing how nearly every pitcher has underachieved this year, yet Cooper receives very little criticism on here. People probably just love his radio interviews. So who do you replace him with? That is the big question. We will see another function weakened by Reinsdorf's loyalty policies.
  19. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 09:49 PM) DA when is RV accountable? Had a first place team and it ran into the ground, year 2 and 3 not very good efforts and in crunch time team blows in August and September his WHOLE tenure. Not a recipe of ever playing playoff baseball. We've seen that from more than one manager. I still believe in this wacked out theory there is some mental weakness in the organization.
  20. QUOTE (harkness @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 09:45 PM) Yeah because that Yankee roster so much better. Yeah our roster isn't all that special however there is 3 years to me is a pattern. Hope I'm wrong and all the "people with perspective" who don't blame RV are so correct as there level of smug. I'd gladly eat crow. I'd agree when it comes to the pen.
  21. Instead of Pick to Click it should be Bloke to Choke. Picking someone in the pen is a sure winner.
  22. So what are they tanking from this season?
  23. QUOTE (beautox @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 09:33 PM) well that sucked Not so much as being predictable.
  24. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 03:08 PM) "He is a good power hitter from the left side, he hits righties well, he hits a lot of home runs, he strikes out a lot, he walks a lot, he doesn't hit lefties very well, and he doesn't play very good defense." I just got off the phone with Billy Beane and he said that word for word. This made my evening.
  25. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 04:56 PM) Preparing for all the Omg how could the sox trade Beckham! Team leader, heart and hustle , etc etc lol So far I only hear crickets.
