  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 15, 2014 -> 11:00 PM) Where do u live? Why the heck would want the White Sox to leave Chicago? That's insane. They've been playing there since about 1900. WTF? With all due respect, I've never read something so horrible from a Sox fan. Wanting them to move??? Try reading your posts. The world has yet to end when a team moves. I'M ALL 4 IT IF IT HAPPENS!
  2. You wonder when Alexei is going to turn old.
  3. Hey I picked up the MLB deal $24.99 for the rest of the season. Now I can see what you guys are b****in and praisen about.
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 15, 2014 -> 08:34 PM) The point here isn't about how good women are at baseball, it's just whether we should equate all that is wimpy with women. That's the problem with the comment. It's unfair to attribute these things on women. What Hawk said isn't uncommon and I do agree that we're hearing about it because people like to rip on him. With that said, everyone would benefit from thinking twice before making comments like these Some people have not adopted political correctness as their religion. Was this comment out of place 20 years ago. Mo! f*** this sensitivity bulls***.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 14, 2014 -> 03:11 PM) Blah Blah Blah. Go cry me a river. Writers like that are the pure epitome of oversensitive america. That's why they end up writing for Yahoo instead of working as a real journalist. I guess Hawk's weakness is he is very passionate about the Sox and baseball. Steve Stone on the other hand is very tactful. Love Hawk or hate him, but I think when "He Gawn" all of us will miss him to some extent. At one time we could have dealt with Mike North in the booth. He's good for saying stupid things.
  6. QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 14, 2014 -> 03:14 PM) That writer should wear a skirt. Probably does and it was that time of the month. Jack Lambert said the same thing about QBs when they changed the rules.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 15, 2014 -> 07:50 PM) I agree. The Sox aren't going anywhere. They were in the middle of the pack last year in revenue during a 99 loss season. There is no open market out there that could give them that except maybe Vegas, and that is an entirely different issue, or some teams would have moved by now. Not Vegas. There's more tourists than people.
  8. I was a Colts fan (Bert Jones era) when they were in Baltimore and it didn't bother me they moved to Indy. Sad that I never took the opportunity to see them at Indy when I lived in the Midwest. I'm all for the Sox moving to a new state, one that doesn't have MLB if it generates more revenue and it's spent wisely. I don't think Indy would be a better place. Face it. When it comes to baseball it's a Cubs town. How many WS victories will it take? When did it all go downhill? I remember in the 80's-90's the Sox would sell.
  9. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 15, 2014 -> 03:23 PM) I've honestly started to become this way. I still like to play the sport but if it wasn't for the Sox, I don't think I'd watch at all. EDIT: that's actually kind of sad for me to admit because I used to be obsessed with the sport. I'm that way with the NFL. I usually have my annual rant why I like MLB over the NFL.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 15, 2014 -> 03:17 PM) No. Enough with stadiums. They have plenty of money to build their own. Fix the schools and the pot holes. I had jury duty Monday at 26th and California. At lunch I walked a couple of blocks west on 26th to a taqueria. One pothole on my way there gave one car a flat. On my way back, 2 cars got a flat from the same pot hole. Obviously, I am simplifying things, but there are far more important things public funds need to be used for than building billionaires stadiums to make more money. Owners don't like to buy stadiums. They are a terrible investment. Owners are always threatening to leave if they don't get a stadium. It's time governments pull their bluff.
  11. QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 11:45 PM) Dude had 117 pitches....I'm actually a little surprised there weren't some here questioning Robin not taking him out after 7 when he had 100 on the dot.....You know if he gave up a run we'd be hearing it. Not with this s***ty pen.
  12. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 11:45 PM) Because there was no reason to risk anything bringing him back out in an almost meaningless game for us Ugh! I hate that lame ass reasoning.
  13. That scares Sox fans of having to put up another year of Beckham.
  14. Any reason why Robin didn't let Sale complete the game other than trying to move up in the draft. This was too predictable that the pen would do this. They all need to be punched in the nuts.
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 11:48 AM) funny, so do I Chocolate almond milk is awesome.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 02:44 PM) I know I pointed this off before, but because of the way Chicago is a split market, it is hard to call the Sox market bigger than just about anyone else's in the AL Central. All of the Detroit metro market is much bigger than say 1/3 of the Chicago metro market. I'm all for the Sox to move out of Chicago and IL if they have to. It's Cubs town until August, then it's all Bears and then Bulls. They could go some place where there is no MLB baseball and get a governor or mayor to buy a stadium, they would still make money playing crap baseball. Think about it. If you were an owner you might consider it.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 03:39 PM) Ventura before the game: "I know you guys want to play hard, win jobs, and millions of dollars, but I beg you DON'T DO IT! For the love of God, just keep tanking on purpose. I really like this kid in the draft next year, and I want to get him, so that eventually he can take your jobs because you all suck. Ok so, tonight, if it is close, I am going to run the worst of you out there to ensure we don't have any extra added pressure on us. I mean really, who wants high expectations of us? I know I don't. Oh and can someone translate for that Abreu dude? He has really been pissing me off with those triple crown type numbers. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to figure out how to get the vertigo thing from Cooper to Sale." Well at least the bullpen gets it. From what little I've seen on this team, players are either really good or really bad. There is little or no middle.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 10:10 AM) What does North think North and think can't be used in the same sentence.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 08:38 PM) Definitely. The Sox body of work since 2005 has been so depressing. I really thought the team was set up to dominate a division full of small market teams (til Detroit started spending finally). Am I the only one who thought the Sox were set up to win the division for many years after 2005? At any rate, this has little to do with Paulie. It's not his fault. The farm system sucks (I wonder if that will change under Hahn) so your existence of winning can be short lived unless you are willing to fork out East Coast money.
  20. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 07:10 PM) 1. His comments and attitude over the years. 2. He was a ken Williams guy. And the reason that frank was ultimately pushed into a DH role. 3. Since he was a KW guy, he never lost his spot in the lineup in his atrocious 2003 season, despite the fact that frank was killing at 1b in inter league play that year. 4. He is beloved more for what he is/represents versus his actual accomplishments. The average sox fan is less critical of a bonerko than of a frank thomas. 5. He is the DP KING. He found amazing ways to hit into double plays. ALL THE TIME. So did a lot of great hitters.
  21. QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 07:12 PM) I don't doubt the experts liked it; if they did, then they were wrong too. Giving a long-term contract to a guy with mediocre control and average velocity (91-92) is stupid. Now we're paying the price. I didn't like it. I thought he was and is still over rated. Before they signed him you have to ask who you gonna replace him with? Medicore and below mediocre can have a high price tag with MLB pitchers. The could have done worse in the FA market. I'm hoping next season we will have a career year. I think he has that left in him.
  22. The organizations loyalty to former players is a nice thing but not always a good recipe for winning.
  23. QUOTE (BaconOnAStick @ Aug 9, 2014 -> 05:04 AM) Anyone worried? I sorta am, particularly with the sudden loss of power since the break. I think they call them slumps. Rumor has it every hitter gets them.
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 9, 2014 -> 11:06 AM) Up until the most recent fizz, the team was a good bullpen away from being right there for the wild card. I believe that has a lot to do with more teams being bad or not up to their usual standards. They can't seem to play good baseball in August.
  25. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 9, 2014 -> 11:29 AM) Do they play the game differently in AAA?? The only reason players go on minor league rehabs is to get back in the swing of things and get use to playing again.. Dude is hitting .500 in like 6 games. He would probably benefit from being brought up so he isn't hit by s***ty pitchers so damn much Put him in the DH role.
