  1. Maybe it's me but I think offonse is the biggest problem.
  2. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 18, 2014 -> 01:35 PM) The inevitable salt in the wound. Fukadome says hello.
  3. I find it interesting how MLB teams tends to place high value on Japanese players. Most tend to burn out after a few seasons of MLB. How fortunate for the Sox that one dude (I can't remember his name) signed for less money to play Wrigley.
  4. Ugh! Just what we need. More former players turned into managers.
  5. Whaddaya think the chances are this kid is going to start right away?
  6. QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Dec 14, 2013 -> 11:57 PM) I love Juan Uribe. So do his teammates. This contract will ensure my Dodgers fan brother gets a Juan Uribe card for Christmas once again! (Previously gave him Juan Pierre too, a mutual Juan gimmick). There a lot of positive responses by readers at MLB. If he has a fan club I'm in.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 14, 2013 -> 10:41 AM) I know W-L isn't a good way to judge pitchers, but Floyd seems to buck the trend. In games when he gets the win his career ERA is 1.97. In games when he gets no decision, it's 4.85. In games when he gets the loss it's 7.32. Naturally they should break down this way in general, but to this extreme? Maybe it just shows when he is good, he is really good, and when he is not he is really bad. I have yet to believe in that theory 100%. Aces bring a lot of team confidence when they are out on the mound. Then again last year's team destroys that theory with Sale.
  8. QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 08:04 PM) NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! As I've stated in other threads... I am a big Dodgers fan. Almost as much a Dodgersfan as Sox fan. Belisario is terrible. He is incredibly frustrating to watch. What was even more frustrating to watch was Don Mattingly's continued use of him in high-leverage late inning situations. And now, as a Sox fan I have to watch him load the bases in the eighth inning. Hopefully he will have a short leash. *puke* The Sox always go for those mentally weak guys.
  9. This articlw was probably written 5 years ago and the author forgot to press SEND.
  10. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Nov 9, 2013 -> 01:58 PM) I do find it aggravating that Sox fans can watch a guy suck for 4 years and still make excuses for him. I thought we were supposed to be the smart fans. See John Danks, Gavin Floyd.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 10, 2013 -> 07:51 PM) Again, why are we trading Dunn? There is nobody in the system to take his place in 2014. If by the small chance you compete in 2014, his home runs will be a reason why. Keep him. Maybe an AL team gets desperate at the deadline. This.
  12. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Nov 9, 2013 -> 10:41 PM) Has any Marlins manager been successful at selling tickets? With the exception of Ozzie, has any White Sox manager done it? Give me a break. Kenny thought so.
  13. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Nov 5, 2013 -> 06:04 PM) Hopefully we don't go after him. We have enough guys with an OBP below .330. It makes me think KW is running the team.
  14. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Oct 31, 2013 -> 01:12 PM) Sorry, but it will aways and forever be f*** the boston red socks. Best post of the thread.
  15. If some things are rooted deep in an organization, it's more difficult for change at the big league level. They should fire the hitting instructors in the minors as well.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 21, 2013 -> 12:54 AM) Until Sale goes down. And it will Happen. And even then I laugh at the notion that this is a "championship" staff. Rays >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Sox. Well, they still won the division with ease. And what you're selling sounds like hope, not reality. Kinda like Rowand. "The Bulls will win the championship." lol. They can t even see the Nets or Pacers, let alone LeBron. The Sox are bad and boring. Even when they are decent, they are boring.
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 18, 2013 -> 03:42 PM) Hah, that was hilarious. I actually thought the writing was pretty good, despite a few ticky-tack things. As for holding on to Championships, what the hell else are we supposed to do? We are sports fans. It's not a Chicago thing. Besides 2 threepeats in the NBA is worth holding on to. While I'm not a Bear's fan, the 85 Bears were the best NFL team I've seen. The 2005 White Sox had one of the best post seasons in baseball. Hockey is back in Chicago. I'm so looking forward to that. As a Colts fan who never seen Johnny Unitas play, he is one of my favorite Colts. Being a fan of a team is often handed down by generations. I don't know if the team history is handed down either. I wonder how many kids who are Bears fan even know who Walter Peyton is? We are also living in an era where team dynasties are rare. Even great players will play on multiple teams.
  18. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Sep 17, 2013 -> 09:31 PM) I wanted to trade Reed in July but I am starting to doubt how much value he really has and with a marginal return is it really worth it? Veterans are easier to move.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 17, 2013 -> 09:27 PM) I think there are more people in this gamethread than are in the bleachers There is now. So what's happening? Since we cancelled cable and didn't buy a mlb.com subscription, my sanity is somewhat intact.
  20. Stats and reality don't always match up. Of course he is going to say something like that. It's not like this was ever going to be a trick question. The farm system still sucks.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 15, 2013 -> 01:36 PM) Yeah, but it wasn't me. I loved Ozzie. So I'm making up for lost time. Robin may be a good manager. If he is, his players have really let him down with all the mental mistakes and physical mistakes. That dropped fly by Viciedo the other day really made me give up. He's not because he came in with no experience. But that's so White Sox, plugging holes with a drill.
  22. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 14, 2013 -> 11:17 AM) Now its the Indians rebuild you are trumpeting. Good old after-the-fact Dick Allen strikes again. No one has a clue how free agents will perform in the offseason. See Adam Dunn. Few thought the 2005 Sox would place better than 3rd.
  23. QUOTE (scs787 @ Sep 13, 2013 -> 10:36 PM) To the bold sentence, no you don't. One hitter doesn't make a lineup. I'm fine with his last 2 years here. There just needs to be better hitters around him. Why? because once again, one hitter doesn't make a lineup. Glad to see someone gets this. You can look at people who have moved who are doing better because they are in a better lineup.
  24. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Sep 5, 2013 -> 12:58 AM) I'm assuming this team would play at Camelback Ranch. No matter, lotsa games in +100 temperatures. Yikes. I think these would be night games. Camelback sucks in March. No shade.
  25. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Sep 13, 2013 -> 08:35 AM) I don't know. I think it's nice to give the out of town people a heads up. When you only get to see maybe one game a week it's easy to forget about it with our busy lives so it's nice to have a reminder. Also, many of the Fox/ESPN games aren't always listed on the schedule. I think all of us in market folks take it for granted that we can just turn on the tv every night and have the Sox on. If you don't like the threads, just don't open them. +1 We ditched cable until the Walking Dead (no to the Sox) returns. We still get WGN. I still can't justify spending $10 to watch the Sox on mlb.com for the rest of the season. That's why I'm not as pissed off as many of you. Ignorance is bliss.
