  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 21, 2013 -> 12:54 AM) Until Sale goes down. And it will Happen. And even then I laugh at the notion that this is a "championship" staff. Rays >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Sox. Well, they still won the division with ease. And what you're selling sounds like hope, not reality. Kinda like Rowand. "The Bulls will win the championship." lol. They can t even see the Nets or Pacers, let alone LeBron. The Sox are bad and boring. Even when they are decent, they are boring.
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 18, 2013 -> 03:42 PM) Hah, that was hilarious. I actually thought the writing was pretty good, despite a few ticky-tack things. As for holding on to Championships, what the hell else are we supposed to do? We are sports fans. It's not a Chicago thing. Besides 2 threepeats in the NBA is worth holding on to. While I'm not a Bear's fan, the 85 Bears were the best NFL team I've seen. The 2005 White Sox had one of the best post seasons in baseball. Hockey is back in Chicago. I'm so looking forward to that. As a Colts fan who never seen Johnny Unitas play, he is one of my favorite Colts. Being a fan of a team is often handed down by generations. I don't know if the team history is handed down either. I wonder how many kids who are Bears fan even know who Walter Peyton is? We are also living in an era where team dynasties are rare. Even great players will play on multiple teams.
  3. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Sep 17, 2013 -> 09:31 PM) I wanted to trade Reed in July but I am starting to doubt how much value he really has and with a marginal return is it really worth it? Veterans are easier to move.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 17, 2013 -> 09:27 PM) I think there are more people in this gamethread than are in the bleachers There is now. So what's happening? Since we cancelled cable and didn't buy a mlb.com subscription, my sanity is somewhat intact.
  5. Stats and reality don't always match up. Of course he is going to say something like that. It's not like this was ever going to be a trick question. The farm system still sucks.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 15, 2013 -> 01:36 PM) Yeah, but it wasn't me. I loved Ozzie. So I'm making up for lost time. Robin may be a good manager. If he is, his players have really let him down with all the mental mistakes and physical mistakes. That dropped fly by Viciedo the other day really made me give up. He's not because he came in with no experience. But that's so White Sox, plugging holes with a drill.
  7. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 14, 2013 -> 11:17 AM) Now its the Indians rebuild you are trumpeting. Good old after-the-fact Dick Allen strikes again. No one has a clue how free agents will perform in the offseason. See Adam Dunn. Few thought the 2005 Sox would place better than 3rd.
  8. QUOTE (scs787 @ Sep 13, 2013 -> 10:36 PM) To the bold sentence, no you don't. One hitter doesn't make a lineup. I'm fine with his last 2 years here. There just needs to be better hitters around him. Why? because once again, one hitter doesn't make a lineup. Glad to see someone gets this. You can look at people who have moved who are doing better because they are in a better lineup.
  9. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Sep 5, 2013 -> 12:58 AM) I'm assuming this team would play at Camelback Ranch. No matter, lotsa games in +100 temperatures. Yikes. I think these would be night games. Camelback sucks in March. No shade.
  10. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Sep 13, 2013 -> 08:35 AM) I don't know. I think it's nice to give the out of town people a heads up. When you only get to see maybe one game a week it's easy to forget about it with our busy lives so it's nice to have a reminder. Also, many of the Fox/ESPN games aren't always listed on the schedule. I think all of us in market folks take it for granted that we can just turn on the tv every night and have the Sox on. If you don't like the threads, just don't open them. +1 We ditched cable until the Walking Dead (no to the Sox) returns. We still get WGN. I still can't justify spending $10 to watch the Sox on mlb.com for the rest of the season. That's why I'm not as pissed off as many of you. Ignorance is bliss.
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 13, 2013 -> 03:17 PM) Remember when Brent Morel learned to pull the ball two Septembers ago? No reason whatsoever why I brought that up. That made me laugh. Love a sense of humor when your team is worse than suck.
  12. So is this Leesman guy suppose to be good. I see he gave up 7.
  13. QUOTE (scs787 @ Sep 12, 2013 -> 09:55 PM) Well if what bucket said about Rick and company not simply punting on the season is true then the Sox think differently. I'm indifferent on bringing in a new coach though, I agree with the last bit of your post, it's the product on the field....Nothing a coach can do. I know it sounds ridiculous but I agree with Hawk when he said a manager doesn't matter. They need to sharpen the axe and use it on the farm system. They don't teach base running and if they do they are doing it wrong.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 12, 2013 -> 09:51 PM) Well, I'm assuming we can't get Francona. So given a choice I'd prefer a guy like Piniella/LaRussa who will get on the players. He was a terrible manager for the Cubs.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 12, 2013 -> 09:21 PM) Anyone notice Leury Garcia not start running to first on an lazy pop up? Good to see the veterans and their piss-poor effort has reached the young guys. Rosenbloom had an article about that, stating that wait till A. Garcia stops being a Tiger and realizes he's a Sox.
  16. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Sep 12, 2013 -> 03:43 PM) I got banned at the other site for saying "Beckham hits like a girl." I swear that kid has the best marketing department around. The amount of bulls*** propaganda about him is ridiculous. That's because it's offensive to girls. Some probably screamed "I don't hit like that!"
  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 11, 2013 -> 06:38 PM) The score is a huge bunch of pessimistic Bears fans, and this is coming from a fan of the Score. The callers are even worse If the Sox or Cubs had the legacy of the Yankees, Chicago would still be a Bears or Bulls town.
  18. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 11, 2013 -> 07:31 PM) Would be nice to see the Sox bump Anibal off getting any Cy Young consideration tonight. Probably has too few innings anyway, but he is ahead of Sale in a few categories otherwise. Sale has to lead both leagues in getting the shaft by his team.
  19. The farm system sucks at developing position players. So whoever they get, they won't be able to run the bases and situational hitting will go out the window once they make it to the Cell. A high draft pick is not going to save this organization. They produce some decent pitching though.
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 08:37 PM) The Tigers are f***ing idiots. This kid is the s***. White Sox baseball is now watchable.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 12:30 PM) Should be interesting to see who goes farther in the postseason: Peavy, Rios/AJP. It's going to be weird if AJ wins another WS title with a different team. Peavy is a great gamer; looks like we still have one in Sale. It happened to Jaun Uribe.
  22. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 07:03 PM) A leadoff double and two singles and we get one run. Not efficient That has been going on for at least 5 years.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 07:06 PM) I don't know what the personal attacks lately are about, but they are over. THANK YOU!
  24. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Aug 29, 2013 -> 09:30 AM) http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2013-08...er-ken-williams Article at one point indicates he started (almost) missing KW ..when in Miami. I missed Kenny this past offseason. He always made them interesting.
