  1. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 08:22 AM) But Flowers is ready in that he can contribute in all facets passably well and then the AJ money can be spent on other things. The opportunity cost of keeping AJ is the thing that happens to the other positions of need. Due to money lacking. You must be thinking of plants and not the baseball player. If people get ticked at the way Gordo bats....
  2. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 02:52 PM) I am all for moving Floyd. When the games are important, he sucks. That's all I need to know about him. So does 90% of the roster.
  3. QUOTE (Dizzy Sox @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 12:01 AM) last time we picked 18th...Josh Fields. Ugh. That's what happens when you pick athletes instead of baseball players.
  4. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 12:10 PM) I want to see history if the Sox can't win. Same here. I don't hate the guy. I'd like him a lot better if he wore Sox uniform though. Congrats to Miguel Cabrera on the Triple Crown.
  5. Congrats to Mguel Cabrera on the Triple Crown.
  6. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 09:52 PM) 1 -- Heard Farmer and DJ sign off for the season. Farmer called DJ his best friend in life, outside of his family. DJ agreed. Those two are going to stay together. 2. -- stone has to be weary of Hawk's insufferable ego. That's too bad because Stone has insights into the game. Hawk just has a string of about 20-to-25 phrases. And he's starting to yell STRETCH on balls that are 15 feet from the wall. Cataract surgery, anyone? 3 -- Wimpy is just as gimmicky as Hawk. 4 -- You could never give Ozzie a live mic -- and who understands 70 percent of what he says, anyway? They are going to run out of guys to fill the booth. I've already tuned Hawk out. I listen to the other team's broadcast on MLB. I feel if I listen to Hawk, my baseball IQ would suffer. I can't take that kind of hit.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 09:19 PM) Give me Guthrie over Myers if the money is equal. With that said, I'm pretty happy with what KW said before the game today about spending money for next season. It was a different vibe than when he complains about the attendance, etc. He made it sound like the organization felt they had to spend money to get the team over the top, which would then equate to getting more fans out to the park. That's a shocker.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 09:10 PM) I hate to be one of those guys but I predited the exact 4 series correctly. Yes we won 2 of 3 in Cleveland when it didn't matter a bit. I hope next season the Sox are less predictable. I mean why the heck can't we beat the heck out of Cleveland in the Cell when it mattered? Floyd goes 7 strong innings tonight? WTF??? This team was maddening. This was the season they weren't predictable. They were predicted to lose close to 90 and they did a 180. But the choking part was predictable.
  9. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 05:01 PM) Only on this site does he do that Post of the week!
  10. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 09:05 PM) Did he confirm he is leaving? No. Maybe it's time to dump them all.
  11. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 09:06 PM) If you exercise that option, he must start. Myers at 10M vs. Peavy at maybe 13M Myers career as a starter doesn't look decent.
  12. QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 09:04 PM) You mean like, asking Josh Fields to hit major league pitching? Even when he did for a short time being called up, he still couldn't catch a baseball. That latter is often something Kenny thinks that can be fixed on the farm. It wasn't until the Ozzie era that Sox teams got better at defense and Robin expects the same.
  13. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 08:57 PM) KW open to idea of bringing Myers back next year as a starter, Might not be a bad idea. He can serve as a cheap innings eater to protect Sale, Danks, and Quintana. http://www.csnchicago.com/baseball-chicago...mp;feedID=10338 How long ago was he a starter? Could he be another guy that runs out of gas after throwing so many innings?
  14. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 08:57 PM) Seems like every at bat Dan had was a quality one when he got the opportunity. He could have def helped. Kinda sucks he couldn't play any 3rd base. That doesn't stop this organization from trying to put the square peg in the round hole. See Josh Fields.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 02:20 PM) The Sox had lower attendance due to expectations and Dynamic Pricing. They lost a good portion of their season ticket base last offseason, which is the biggest cause of attendance drop. People played wait and see. That is very typical. They then try to buy tickets and they are ridiculously priced because they weren't purchased in February. Forget the dynamic deal discount, forget the Sox save of the week, people don't want to go through hoops to buy your product. Set a price and keep it there. Ironically, Ozzie mailing it in last year probably hurt the Sox attendance this year. That's it. Last comment I doubt had anything to do with it. Kenny giving the impression the team going into 2012 wasn't going to be good hurt more. Management has been keeping their mouth shut so far.
  16. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 01:10 PM) This, Grienke for a ton of reasons on both sides is not coming here. I think he's a mental midget and comes from an organization where losing is a habit.
  17. Omgrosso has to learn to hide the ball better in his windup. He leaves that arm out there for a while where some hitter can figure out what pitch he'll throw.
  18. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 07:26 PM) Man a lot of playstation moves going on here.... or like Phil Rodgers flipping baseball cards I'm going to leave this up to the men who get paid for doing this. It seems like every person should be traded except for Chris Sale. Trade him too while you are at it.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 12:07 PM) The problem is nobody else had problems beating those Detroit pitchers before we let them off the hook. Detroit was losing to everybody not named Chicago for a long stretch and those KC pitchers are horrible. If you stretch it back a bit, we got shut down by a lot of other clown pitchers this season. BTW, Tigers have struggled against CY Chen. When Chen gave up two, he was shut out. The Tigers still found a way to win.
  20. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 05:11 PM) Why is Paulie still playing in meaningless games if he's injured? How dumb is Ventura? I guess I'm not the only one to buy into the injury excuse.
  21. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 12:58 PM) It's been in most of his posts the last couple days - like he's really trying to push it out there. I was thinking of using google translate to understand most of his posts.
  22. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 09:42 PM) So many extra inning losses this year bad ju ju. It's little things like that and playing .400 against the NL that put more pressure on a team late in Sept.
  23. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 10:29 PM) Because as Chicago sports fans we're used to collapses due to injury....Maybe because you're out in KC and didnt already experience the collapse of the Bears the last 2 years due to injuries or the Bulls last year because of the Rose/Noah injuries. Welcome to Chicago sports and excuses and just not being good enough.... when they do win it all it's because they were superior. Chicago is still the city of chokers. The Northside counterparts have the biggest play in it.
  24. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 07:51 PM) lol people forget Dunn was an all star this year....voted by his peers...ya his peers are idiots and know nothing about baseball right Good thing they don't play that game after the season. Then if he was voted in...yes his peers would be idiots and know nothing about baseball. All Star appearances are plenty in the Sox kingdom...which are nothing more than aesthetics compared to post seasons.
