QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 10:40 AM) Jt doesn't say that in Marty s post. The beer vendor just laid out a scenerio to Marty. It might be Willie the crack dealer who fronts as a street musician.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 10:23 AM) You sound like John Henry of the Red Sox ownership group here. Believe it or not, even if you were the richest season ticket holder in the White Sox demographics bank, it wouldn't make you any more or less qualified to analyze the team. Having or spending money doesn't need to be added as a qualifier to make your statements more valid or insightful. In fact, the opposite usually occurs when posters preface statements or comments by bragging about themselves...which has the effect, intentional or unintentional, of putting a lot of lot of people in attack mode. Did you really expect that people would genuflect in your direction as a result? You should know this board better by now. NO and HELL NO. There was nothing rational in his "inside info". None, Nicht, Zilch, Nada. It matches the thoughts too much of the OP which are often criticized. There is another site where mods do have inside info.

QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 09:35 AM) ozzie's act hurt ticket sales. not to mention the 25 man roster. two big reason to say "adios!" Mental midget breakdowns since the 21st century has hurt ticket sales plus a zillion other things. Let's also not ignore the current manager is thinking about quitting. Why is this in the news?

QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 10:15 AM) You're not alone. I don't dislike AJ. He had a great year, but this team needs more OBP. Rios' contract is too big too move IMO, so he'll stay. Alexei clearly isn't going anywhere and I doubt the front office is going to pull the plug on Viciedo (and they shouldn't). That leaves Beckham and AJ as the last two OBP black holes in the lineup, and I don't think Beckham will be moved considering his defense is excellent and his bat has improved in September (the latter point is sample size bias and I personally wouldn't be opposed to moving him for the right player). That leaves AJ who's probably going to ask for, and this is me guessing here, around $10 million a year. I think that money could be better spent. AJ's play has been beyond terrible. I think he is throwing games.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 09:31 PM) I'd think people would want to say stuff in response to loudmouths like me. I don't know much but I like to spout my opinions and vent my frustrations. For the life of me, I can't figure out how the Sox just completely went in the tank. It's a completely different team than the first half. Mental midgets. This is 21 century White Sox baseball.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 10:28 PM) This scenario has less chance of happening than one of Ozzie's kids making a major league roster. Off season stupidity has started early. Look at the source. It doesn't make sense and very few of Marty's post ever make sense. He has no inside info.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 09:08 PM) That's why he has his trip to Spain in the offseason, usually scheduled the first day after the end of the regular season since he doesn't actually expect his teams to qualify...but those for them to fight for 2nd place playoff 1% pool shares. I'd rather have Jerry Manuel or Jeff Torborg at the front of another youth movement than this nonsense. That's bad.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 09:06 PM) And why would anyone believe that a twice-failed Ozzie Guillen would be a good move for this organization? Does Hahn want to wreck his GM career right off the bat? It's insane. The White Sox are even dumber than I thought if they're even considering it. The theory is that Ozzie will return to being a great manager with KW no longer around is preposterous. but..but..it's Marty's guy

There's plenty of guys on 35th, with the logic of this person, it's most likely one of the crack dealers around there. Looks like, smells like, tastes like, it's gotta be bulls***.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 02:51 PM) What would LAA need another OFer for? Or more so, why would they pay that much for another one? NVM, I see that Hunter is a FA after the season. I hope LA signs him since that's another guy KW always wanted. His numbers look good this year but that probably has a lot to do with Pujols and Trout.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxNews @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 05:45 PM) I'm sorry but this is getting a bit ridiculous. Anyone who posts on this site is just criticized. Not just me, but scroll through the threads and all people do is argue. You'd think some one would be allowed to post some articles and some polls on a forum website. It's not like my posts are only polls and no other content. I write things as well and try to start discussions. I mean isn't that the point of this site? Last year I reviewed your posting regulations and saw that you were allowed to link to other sites, but after linking to my White Sox blog, a different admin spoke to me with a friendly attitude and told me otherwise. I had not intended to break one of the regulations of this site and was sorry even though it hadn't been clearly stated in the rules and regulations. For awhile I was discouraged to go back on here, because some other members had made profane comments to me in the thread just because I had linked to my own site. Recently, I came back because I wanted to start discussions and share my opinions with other White Sox fans in a nice setting. Once again, more unconstructive comments by someone who is supposed to regulate the site to prevent unnecessary criticism between users. You don't participate in any discussion that you didn't start. When you join a site with the idea of increasing your own audience, I guess it breaches some sort of netiquette.

Sept 29 Devil Rays @ White Sox: Memorial Day Pt. 2

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 06:12 PM) It's amazing, isn't it? If you played him over Konerko every game in September, I bet you find a way to win another game or two. If they end up getting rid of Konerko and putting Dunn at 1B and Viciedo at DH, I hope they bring back Johnson for the bench. Get rid of Dunn first. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 08:43 AM) Jon Morosi @jonmorosi Both #Tigers and #WhiteSox have sore-armed pitching staffs. Jim Leyland’s experience needs to be difference-maker if Detroit is to win. Their starting depth is better. It's their pen that is becoming more shaky. Even after Fister's performace, the pen gave up all of the runs. Good for them the Royals decided to do a Tiger's defense impersonation.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 10:09 PM) I'm with J4L. No hitters are becoming less and less impressive. They are too me. As for perfect games, I hope another Sox pitcher never throws one again. It's a jinx. I could see them becoming more common in the NL since the best hitters are coming over to the AL.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 12:58 PM) “I don’t think any of them are out there saying I wish there were more people in the ballpark. But, without question, they do notice when there are people in the ballpark and giving them that lift and willing them to win,” Boyer said. “When the crowd is behind you, it gives you that little extra push. It makes a difference.” WHAT? He has to spin, it's his job. If you haven't, listen to the sound clip. The article isn't a transcript. I've also been following that thread on WSI.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 12:33 PM) 2008 was really likable. And it showed on Soxtalk. We were all pretty content with the losses in the playoffs. I'd feel the same way about 2012.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 09:51 PM) Oh and BTW Loria is an awful owner, but Ozzie created that situation for himself. If he hadn't gone all short bus in Chicago he might still be here where he never realized how good he had it. His time was over. If he kept his mouth shut things might be different.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 08:05 PM) I'm gonna keep posting this. After reading that, I would think someone hijacked Greg's account.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 09:40 AM) Chicken and egg. Maybe they were hitting .150 because they never played. Look at Tyler Flowers, who by the way was a pretty good 2nd catcher... he started hitting near the end of the season, when he finally saw a little more playing time. And Escobar was never thought to be much of a hitter anyway, but again, they guys need to play to keep the rust off. Bench players are bench players for a reason. And I think KW did an OK job with it. Flowers was pretty good, Escobar was good defensively. The Wise pickup was a good one. Danks works out fine as a backup OF. Great point. Waiver wire also gets more expensive in Sept. for teams who are desperate. Remember the Sox were paying about $100K per at bat to Manny Ramirez? If you invest a lot of money in the DH, it's hard to have a good bench unless you have one that can play multiple positions. Those don't grow on trees. I'm not buying the excuse of hurt and tired. Every baseball team deals with that.

They still farted around and lost to teams they shouldn't have. That's WS baseball in a nutshell after ASB. Some would say this season resembles 2003 and not 2008. Sure in hell is not even close to 2005. They were the best team in baseball. Their division wasn't dependent on another team failing expectations. That Cleveland hot streak was surreal.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 08:42 AM) Gee. Also not the time to develop..... 1) Reed and Nathan Jones as critical bullpen guys 2) Gordon Beckham for his fourth straight year 3) Brent Morel for key stretches of the first month and a half 4) Numerous rookie relievers 5) Tyler Flowers with inconsistent at-bats 6) Quintana and Santiago 7) Jordan Danks But we did all of those things and more this season. We STILL should have been leading the division with ALL of those things happening (above and beyond Viciedo's development), and we're still ONLY 1 game back with five to play. It was a rebuild gone all wrong. They were suppose to totally suck and season over by June. Don't ya hate it when things don't work out that way?
