  1. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 04:27 PM) The average Sox fan has lost faith in the ability of this organization - from ownership on down - to put a consistently winning product on the field. 1 playoff win in 6, maybe 7 years now shows they are right. I think that is it. Plus the lack of trust in Reinsdorf. (much of it is ignorance) It seems like when a Sox player's contract is up there is more pessimism of them getting signed than optimism. They let that part get played way too much in the press.
  2. QUOTE (SI1020 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 01:59 PM) Miami Marlins 13th out of 16 in the NL. Totally irrelevant to this thread. Cubs 50th-because some farm teams are better. Was that suppose to make us feel getter?
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 02:09 PM) I thought they didn't have any awesome prospects/players? They don't. There is no one to replace AJ or Youk.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 04:11 PM) I think it's very painful. There were so many times this season the Tigers were just begging us to go 4-7 games up. Blown opportunity after blown opportunity. The Tigers may win out against all these bad teams they are playing, but they were begging for us to put them away at several junctures. Very painful ending to the season for the White Sox and their fans. Me too. Way too many post ASB collapse with this organization. The casual fan stays home.
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 10:05 PM) 1. Don't move the lineup around based on game to game play 2. This past week has been the unfortunate logical end to a pretty long-term trend of worsening play for our boys. The talent is there to surge to the finish, but the health, mindset, luck, and everything else may not be. I'm happy to get to worry about this crap in the last week of September. I'm thinking the talent is not there. The mindset is a repeat of 2003,07-12. (weak)
  6. QUOTE (Real @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 09:55 PM) so awful if I were a betting man, I'd say we have a clubhouse cancer that f***s this team up mentally when the pressure is on my guess is either AJ or Cooper Reinsdorf.
  7. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 09:38 PM) If the Tigers clinch and these guys start to hit all of a sudden. Then burn it down. Because there is a mental problem with whats here. It's always been that way. Maybe that will change with Hahn.
  8. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 09:30 PM) Their anuses get into a fit every year past the ASB. They press, swing for the fence. K or popup. Then swing harder. K. Then all of a sudden when its the 9th inning. They finally get some focus and put on a threat, then come up short. That in a nutshell is whitesox baseball in an pennant race. There is no reason what so ever that we are in this position. Play medicore baseball hit the ball a bit and we are about to clinch. In other words-mental midgets.
  9. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 09:22 PM) The differnce between Sox and Det are obvious.........tonight Det down 4-1 against Cy Guthrie not only tie but come back to win, Sox they would of lost 4-2. 3rd and 4th hitters are far superior. If they have slumped this year, I missed it. Their pitching is superior as well. The other parts are sub minor league.
  10. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 09:21 PM) I said I was getting out of the business of making predictions about this division and I'm staying out of it Predict anyone but the White Sox. If you are wrong then it's worth it.
  11. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 09:11 PM) We have very fair weather fans, but so what? Nobody wants to pay money and travel to the park to watch a loser. except Cubs fans, they love that isht. I think they are tired of mental midget baseball. The implosion may have come a month late. Plus "chokedom" is common among Chicago sports teams. When there is a trend of this type of play, I think most fan bases don't show. The last time the Cubs played the Braves in the post season, it looked like there were more Cub fans in Atlanta.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 08:11 PM) As I said earlier (and was saving for an end of year recap on Ventura), the fundamentals that he's brought to the team are severely underrated. I'm interested in looking at the stats for SB/CS for and against the Sox, as well as other stats. I do wonder if maybe it's time for Cooper to go elsewhere and let the manager actually manage? I think that's the reason they are in 1st. I hope he doesn't get lazy in that area. As for Coop, I don't think he's effective anymore.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 07:51 PM) It's too early in the game to be playing out to out. Ugh. This is mainly cause our starting pitchers can't even get us to the seventh. KW really looks dumb now for not adding somebody reliable to bolster our injured starting staff. We're gonna regret this next year when the Tigers actually play like the Tigers and we are playing with an upside of maybe 10 over .500 again. It's not as easy as you think.
  14. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 07:50 PM) Where did I argue that it was the right call? You cant even address the argument. The Sox were picked to be under 500. Robin has them competing for the playoffs. You want to fire a guy over a month of bad decisions in his first pennant race. That to me is a foolish knee jerk decision. Its like giving a lawyer fresh out of law school a million dollar case and then firing him because he made mistakes. No s*** he makes mistakes, its his first time ever coaching at any level, let alone it being a pennant race. Complain about the Sox hiring him if you want, but they thought that this team wasnt going to compete. Remember "Respect the game" was the tagline because they thought this team was going to be brutal. I wish that were true.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 07:46 PM) I just hope he goes back to being a normal manager next year like he was during the first half. This baseball is unwatchable with our starters not going deep at all and tons of relievers and tons of pinch hitters, etc. If this is the style of ball we play next year, we're going to lose a zillion games. s***, we can't beat anybody right now playing this style of baseball. Disclaimer: I do realize this is on the players for sucking the second half, mainly. It's even unwatchable when they are winning.
  16. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 07:43 PM) They are fluid for arm chair Quarterbacks. I would hope they are not for million dollar corporations who had very low expectations this year and Robin has exceeded them all. He took a team that most were predicting to be terrible and they were contenders. With a year under his belt and some fine tuning, there is no reason to believe he cant improve. But I do enjoy all the laughs people are providing. Not buying this excuse. There are other coaches on the bench who should be helping him out.
  17. Only 13,797 showed up today. I wonder if the casual fan has bought into "August came late". Sox bats are great for extended slumps. The manager has done little to make changes in the lineup. 2003, 2006-present show little to have any optimism.
  18. Does anyone remember the biased announcing by Chris Berman, 2005 ALDS Sox vs. Red Sox? That's when I stopped watching ESPN.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 06:38 PM) Well yeah, but the Tigers gave up a ton more than the Sox did to get Sanchez (and Infante) Infante has not been the defensive upgrade they were hoping for.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 02:59 PM) The Royals starters are garbage. Except when they face the Sox. It becomes a pitching clinic.
  21. Apples and Oranges. They are winning without Strasburg. (wish we had Gio back). Sox can't win without Sale.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 07:16 PM) It's a horrible decision by McEwing when you consider the Indians missed the initial cut-off man and he was still out. Stink spreads. What can you do? Sox are really good leaving guys stranded at 3rd.
  23. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 07:01 PM) Here's the $64,000 question: is the offense choking, tired because Robin has used the regulars too much this year, or some combination of both? And, if think it's both, is it MORE the choking part or the tired part? I'm still waitin for Cabrera and Fielder to get tired. They will probably play more games than anyone on this team.
  24. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 06:47 PM) And the circus continues Mental midgets are the main attraction.
  25. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 11:54 AM) Well, you are just a better fan than me. I just think the White Sox have responded to this pennant race in horrible fashion. Horrible. History is on your side.
