QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 05:33 PM) I agree. I'm hoping for a nice surprise tonight in Detroit, and change that to 7-3. 5-5 would do it if Detroit goes 4-6. I hope they go 0-10.

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 05:24 PM) slumps can't last forever Thats the only thing giving me some hope It might end in 10 days.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 05:21 PM) Seems like it's the opposition's 3 and 4 hitters that are killing the Sox of late (Gordon/Butler, Pujols/Morales, Ruth/Fielder) Seems like it's the our 3 and 4 hitters that are killing the Sox of late.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 05:19 PM) I wonder how the attendance is going to look on the homestand. I'll go with BAD.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 05:13 PM) Does Ventura have any idea that Jose Lopez is a much better hitter vs LHP than Hudson? Hudson did. That's why he swung at the first pitch. He just wanted to grab some bench.

QUOTE (Baron @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 05:07 PM) " I have a very low tolerance for stupid bull****" We should put you in the dugout to take over for Robin.

The AL West might be the best division this year.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 04:58 PM) Go Twins! Go every team that plays the Tigers.

Hard to believe Pujols had a slow start. Our former NL talent is medicore.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 04:46 PM) Yep, Adam Dunn supposedly wanted to play for the Cubs, but since they didn't offer him a contract, he decided to play for the Sox. Fukadome was offered more money by the Sox but wanted to play for the Cubs. Imagine how bad that would be.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 04:42 PM) It's the reality of being the second team in the second city. In reality, we're a mid market team with mid market results. We don't draft in the top 10 often. FA's don't want to come here to play for the second team in the second city, and never have. Hey, at least we're not the Brewers! Players follow the money.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 04:35 PM) You just wonder how we're so damn bad with RISP. Part of it is regression back to the mean (since we were abnormally good early in the season), but that's not enough to account for most of it. These guys must be so uptight at the plate right now. Who isn't this time of the year in a playoff hunt. I still have suspicions the team has too many mental midgets.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 03:29 PM) Manto, probably. Can't expect Ventura to go anywhere, unless he just quits and decides it's not worth it after one season at the helm. That's entirely possible. After over a decade of 3 manager changes, coaching changes, the constants are KW and some of the players. The Sox are never bad enough to be crappy but never good enough to win.

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 03:16 PM) Fine, then bat him at 5. Good luck finding a left handed bat that gives you 40&100 on the free agent market So far the Sox haven't.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 03:07 PM) Maybe YOM KIPPUR and a return to USCF will replenish his magical Greek powers. No desire for the organization to add Morel to the call up list says a lot. They could probably use him. He couldn't do worse than the big money guys in the line up.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 02:57 PM) Lucky break, could easily have been a triple there if not for the fan grabbing it. First RISP for the Angels today. Two outs. This is where Gavin usually has a mental lapse and gives a damaging run. Wells 9/24 lifetime against Gavin Floyd. Does Robin Ventura know that? Pitch around Wells and go after Ianetta? Yes, that pencils out to .375. He got out of it. He's lookin pretty good. Too bad he will probably make a mistake which I will blame on the inept offense.
-
QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 02:34 PM) I will take 2 more years like this one from Dunn and won't worry much about it. 40 bombs and 100 RBIs is ok for me That's fine for fantasy baseball. He's no threat to any AL pitcher. Worst #3 hitter in baseball. High K rate doesn't work in the AL. He's the first guy I get off this team.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 02:16 PM) I didn't watch the game, was it Scherer who got hit hard? Any indication that he is not completely healthy? All I know is he was ragged with the loss.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 01:59 PM) Guaranteed Hahn/Williams will go after Torii Hunter this offseason and install him as the starting CF about 5 seasons too late. HOW THE HELL was that 3rd pitch to Pujols NOT a strike? Hitting on a 3-0 count, somehow sneaks it through the left side of the INF. What is our scoring rate with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs the last month? 15%? 20%? It's supposed to be about 58%. Yay, I guess. Not that it matters, since we're looking unlikely to score against Weaver after blowing that chance. Well, eventually the luck has to change. It just might not be until the team limps back into Chicago, trailing more oil behind it than a Pinto or Gremlin. He'll suck by not having Trout and Pujols in the lineup.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 11:36 PM) Fixed that for you. Luckily for me, this year me being "heartless" or emotionless has really paid off for me. If I had the mindset some of you had I'd really hate life right now. You guys have pissed me off more than the team has but I've realized that its because we all have different mindsets. Konerkos injury riddled 2nd half is the biggest reason for the downfall of the team. I believe the stat I posted the other day that our 9 hole hitter has more Rbis over the last 2 months than our cleanup hitter is really a recipe for disaster. I wish Paulie wasn't such a gamer and would have went on the DL till he was healthy. A healthy PK down the stretch would have paid HUGE dividends down the stretch! Right now its just like the last few years we don't have that scary 1-2 punch that Dunn and PK were supposed to offer....I still think if PK were healthy (John Danks woulda been nice too) than this is a championship caliber team. That all being said the seasons not over, as we all know Det finishes the season with 7 on the road where theyre vulnerable. This things gonna go down to the wire folks so sit back relax and strap it down! Thanks. I like that idea.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 08:47 AM) I'll make you guys a deal. Go out and train for a couple of months to run the mile. Then without any additional training go out and run a marathon. Tell me how you do. Totally irrelevant to the latest discussion.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 01:58 PM) 10-2 Twins top 9th. I'll take it . Hopefully the movie has a sequel with a similar ending. -
QUOTE (IowanSoxFan @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 06:08 PM) Lol. Just lol. I do feel bad for the Miami baseball fans. All the hype and to have such a terrible season would not be fun to watch. Hopefully, Ozzie gets fired so I can root for the Marlins as I've wanted to root for them, but his presence doesn't allow me to. I really want to see Oney's reaction on Twitter if this happens, God do I hate him. No such thing as Miami baseball fans. I think the whole Castro thing was a reporters attempt to blow things out of proportion. At the same time people who did not grow up in American culture have to know the meaning of free speech. (basically Ozzie just shut up) The Ozzie hate is getting boring.

Hahn to become GM, Williams promoted to Vp of Bball Ops?
kitekrazy replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I read that Hahn was the highest paid assistant GM in baseball. Last year Kenny wanted to step down on become a scout. I think Kenny will probably work more in that area. -

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 02:45 PM) The Sox had a 3.0 game lead four days ago. It's now half that. Detroit still has a double header on Sunday, hard to sweep those. After Tigers' atrocious play all season we can only assume they will continue their mediocre play on the road. This is how it happens and it happens fast. The Tigers now have Scherzer back who is not completely healthy, and are playing the pesky Royals and Twins away to finish the season. At the most important time of the season Sox need to step it up and seal the division. Soon. The again the Tigers have been putting up some offense since the Oakland series (the one we thought would help us), I could seem the sweeping.
