  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 10:47 PM) Angels have spent a ton of bad money. I wonder how bad that Pujols contract will look in 7 years. I think he's make less than Dunn this season, but his salary practically doubles next year.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 10:42 PM) It's nice to know we're set for the future with Beckham at 2B. He's hit well enough to be our second baseman. Next year's infield is a big question mark however. No third baseman right now, Alexei at short needs to find his power stroke, Becks at second and can Paulie rebound from surgery at first (I'm assuming surgery is forthcoming). DeAza has cooled off as a center fielder; Tank figures to get better and Rios appears to have found himself. At catcher, AJ probably won't hit 26-30 homers as he has this year. Starting pitching should be similar to this year, though we will have to find a stud to replace Peavy. Just replacing him with one of our many fill in guys of this year won't cut it. Lotta work for the new GM to do. I so disagree with that. He's been a much better situational hitter this season. How many guys do we need to hit 20 or more HR on this team? I really don't miss those patented Ramirez foul ball home runs every other at bat.
  3. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 10:10 PM) I hope we infest heavily on a amateur side and development. Kenny's job needs to keep Jerry out of any baseball decisions. According to some at WSI who have inside info, JR is the problem in that area.
  4. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:56 PM) At some point it would be nice to see the sox look to balance the equation a bit with our offense. It's the same issue as we have seen for years. When we click we hit home runs and score in bunches. When we go cold it's a series of pop ups and almost warning track shots. We need to be able to sustain the ability to score to help out the pitching. It can't be where the pitching has to be perfect to win. Look at what we've become. A pitcher has a qs and we lament what a bad outing he had. 4 runs and we start to look at tomorrow's matchups. That's sad. The offense needs to pick it up now. That's all on Kenny. Even the players he brings from the outside are power first guys.
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:55 PM) f*** it, leave Q out there The guy is starting to look like a stud out there. I checked the box score and he only has 1 ER.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:54 PM) Balta, any resources that would show what the Sox are hitting with RISP this month? Using only our eyes, the stats would say pretty s***ty.
  7. QUOTE (SouthSidePride05 @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:44 PM) If we somehow come back and win this game, it would definitely re-energize the team. And then hopefully Minnesota gets lucky and wins both games tomorrow... both in extra innings. Why not dream a little? There's not enough drugs in the world to create that hallucination.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:39 PM) If you think Quintana hasn't shown some stones this year...welcome to White Sox baseball. Glad you're enjoying your first game with us and i hope we can come back to make it extra special for you. LOL! I guess that's what happens from watching too many Javy V Peavy outtings. Did you see who was warming up? That kid who just called up. Even if the Sox don't win this game, watching Q in that inning was worth watching.
  9. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:33 PM) Q show us your got dang STONES I agree with keeping him in there. At least he can grow a pair from this experience.
  10. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:30 PM) I would feel much better just walking Trout I would have felt better if the Sox drafted him.
  11. If anyone has watched some baseball around the league, you have to admit the umpiring has been really lousy this season.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:19 PM) The only truly awful money on the books now is Danks, and at the time of the extension, it seemed like a good deal for the Sox. I'll add Peavy and Dunn to that. Maybe the Sox need to stop blowing a lot of money on the DH spot and spend it elsewhere.
  13. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:14 PM) I'm as frustrated as everyone else, but man, the negative hyperbole makes me feel like I'm at a salon, not a saloon. Not surprised when the team is playing like girls.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:11 PM) I'll be honest, I don't see why ownership would spend a lot of money on payroll if fans won't even show up for a game like Monday. The Sox have spent a lot of money. Unfortunately it's been a lot of bad money. I wonder if attendance would have went up with the signing of Pujols.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:08 PM) http://espn.go.com/mlb/attendance Oh, the the A's are behind us, despite their amazing run. Not a surprise in that stadium. FWIW, there's a huge slide from the White Sox to the Royals at 25th, roughly 3K per game. Go Sooners, at least one good thing can happen tonight for me. The real shocker is the Phillies.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:06 PM) 24th for much of the season. Don't forget the Royals and Indians, they're always good to stay behind us. Mariners, too. Can't remember the other team. But we're behind the Padres and Blue Jays, that's pretty darned sad. I think fans are tired of the current ownership. Where else do you see the marketing slogan, "we'll make our product better only if you buy it"?
  17. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:04 PM) Of course it does.....We our in 1st place with him leading the team in homers. and K's, do we dare to go with LOB?
  18. QUOTE (SouthSidePride05 @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 08:58 PM) Well, even if the Sox were up 3 games going into Monday, it wouldn't make a difference, except for a potential clincher. The Sox are essentially trying to find ways to give away as many comp tickets as they can just to fill some seats next week. If we don't make the playoffs and we find ourselves out of contention in May of next year, I think we'll be contending with TB and Houston for last place in attendance. Isn't that happening this year?
  19. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 08:58 PM) Do you think he shuts his eyes before he swings? If I was Manto, that would be my next suggestion. Kenny needs to find a new team for Dunn next year. All or nothing doesn't work in the AL.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 08:53 PM) This board is a magnified reflection of the fanbase. Right now, it's ALL BAD. Which means a majority are expecting the Tigers to take the division with their easier schedule. Of course, as we saw in 2008, some unexpected teams can play spoiler down the stretch, like the Royals. But the Angels clearly have gotten their final breath of life sensing the A's are vulnerable and can be caught now. It would be one of the biggest shocks of the season if we beat Weaver tomorrow. Even Caesar wouldn't bet on the Sox in that one. We do miss Price. And there's a good chance the Rays won't have the same motivation, knowing they can't catch the O's, Yankees, Angels and A's. Besides all of that the Angels and Rays are better teams than the Sox.
  21. I wonder what Pujols hitting stats are since June. They have to be almost unreal.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 08:39 PM) Santiago has the much fresher arm. It's not fair to expect Quintana to do much more. He already got one of the most important wins in the 2nd half, against the Tigers. Unfortunately, we choked away the next 2 games (especially Game #2 with Peavy), but he stood up to them and showed we could go toe to toe and not back down. I didn't get where the "trade bait", "another year in the minors" bulls*** is coming from. Fans have probably more faith in Sale and Q for wins than the veterans. Both have not pitched a full season in their career. Peavy-fail Danks-injured-epic fail Floyd?
  23. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 08:39 PM) Hawk making excuses... the team looks tired? Doesn't every team play the same amount of games? What is with this 'tired' BS? The Angels don't look tired. He probably got it from Soxtalk or WSI.
  24. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 08:37 PM) Q is one that I think might be a bit of a space cadet. I don't throw that around lightly but I really think he has a problem staying focused. Sounds like the perfect White Sox.
