  1. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 10:12 PM) Wonder if DeAza is hurt. Anyway CF play cost us last night and tonight. Maybe not having a bench all season and overworking the starters is coming back to hurt them as this team looks tired and unprepared. Albert may drive in mroe runs them them this whole series. Seems like weeks since a four run inning. That's Ozzie's fault.............Oh wait wrong manager.
  2. QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 10:12 PM) Giving up 6 hits in 3 innings is not bad luck. Besides the Pujols hit, the others were struck solidly. Peavy isn't good anymore. Without the wipeout slider he had in SD, he's just another guy. The Angel hit him really good. He has a 5.40 career era.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 10:08 PM) Wise is in CF, this game is still tied 1-1 and you're not calling Peavy garbage. DeAza in CF is playing like garbage, that much is true. Meanwhile, the White Sox hitting .243 on the road and looking to be dead in the water. Bad hop prevents Ramirez from making a play, but he probably would have been safe anyway at 1B. Yep, that isn't one Peavy.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 10:02 PM) White Sox forgetting to hit the ball up the middle and to the opposite field like earlier in the season when they were going so well offensively. Manto and Ventura really need to wake them up somehow before we get swept away by Haren and Weaver. Get their asses out of bed for a mini Spring training camp.
  5. QUOTE (Skipper @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 09:57 PM) Too many mental errors recently. I think this team is just running out of gas. It wouldn't be White Sox baseball without those. Running out of gas is no excuse.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 05:59 PM) That team should have been a hell of a lot more competitive than they were. They played lazy and that's on ozzie How so? They never had a chance in that division. It was poor FA signings from day one.
  7. QUOTE (Cali @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 03:38 PM) Tigers basically have to play mistake-free baseball the rest of the season. I just don't see that happening. So do the Sox and I don't see that happening either.
  8. QUOTE (spiderman @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 08:12 PM) Any chance of a 2 year deal that kicks in based on performance? Maybe 2 years, 30 million or so? I don't trust Peavy on a multi-year deal, but I also don't know how they can compete next year without him. He's a legitimate #2 type starter in the AL if he's healthy. If they can get Peavy at around $15 million for next season, I think they can make some other moves to balance out the payroll in the starting staff. 1) Sale 2) Peavy 3) Danks 4) Quintana 5) Santiago - I think Gavin Floyd would have to be moved to clear more payroll. They won't get anything great back for him, but maybe a decent prospect. - I doubt Liriano comes back next season, but if Peavy leaves, this increases as they need to fill out the rotation. - I think Santiago (or someone else) needs to earn that 5th job from the minors and make it a low salary slot - he has shown enough for me to make him the leading candidate, and I actually like him better than Quintana. - I love the idea of moving Quintana for another prospect. I don't think he'll continue his success, but making no money, I understand the thought process of keeping him around. Still over paying for reputation.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 11:16 PM) I have a sneaky feeling the best we do is a dead-heat tie with the Tigers and a playoff game in Detroit which I won't be watching. I'll watch it I guess if it's in The Cell. I'll watch all the real playoff games but not some dumb ass playoff game vs. Detroit that (I feel) we'd be destined to lose. I think the worst we can do is lose to the Tigers by a game or two. I mean would any of you be surprised if we get swept this weekend and they win all three? That'd put them up by one with a lot of baseball left. It's just inexcusable for the Sox to play such a sloppy game tonight with so much at stake. It's ridiculous. I know baseball is a funny game, but the pickoff? The out at home? WTF??? This game meant a ton to give it away. Watch a Tiger's game. Putting the ball in play is the best chance to beat them.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 06:16 PM) They could always get Miami to help us buy back Buehrle with a subsidy and go to five lefties, just to shut Greg up, lol. Then there's the Fathom option, Veal to the rotation. Actually, if Thornton could throw his two pitches consistently, I wouldn't mind giving him a shot as a starter, again, as that's what he wanted to do when we first brought him over for Borchard way back when, in 2006. Axelrod, Rienzo, Castro, Molina and the usual list of suspects will figure in, but you'd have to believe they will either exercise the Floyd option to give them some more flexibility, bring back Liriano (or Peavy), both are 25% possibilities, or go after a second tier FA pitcher like an Anibal Sanchez that Cooper and the scouting staff have identified some positive upside with. I was pulling for them to add Guthrie as another arm, and that would have saved us a ton of losses and given us the division single-handedly, but there's no way the White Sox (or probably the Royals as well) should overpay him now based on 2 months of season, when the Royals were already eliminated. How often do ex Royals work out for this team?
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 10:07 PM) Last weekend in Minnesota on Friday and Sunday? I do agree with your overall sentiment though that the team is playing very sloppy and some dumb decisions are being made by the players/coaches that are having a huge impact on the end result. Plain and simple, the Sox have lost way too many games the last 2 months that they should have found a way to win. How fortunate that the team trailing them is horrible at defense, fundamentals, and the pen is become more unstable.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 10:29 PM) Then I think you are predicting no playoffs. Sox BTW are continuing that maddening trand of good Sox/bad Sox. Five game win streak ... now two on the other side of the ledger with a very tough series coming up. I think the team is mentally weak, like many of the previous Sox teams. Look at some of the stupidity today.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 10:27 PM) If that's the case, then Sox are probably not making the postseason. Not when we have to put faith in any team that plays the Tigers. Oakland didn't help.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 10:25 PM) That wouldn't be wise. We're not going to make the playoffs by losing series. I think they lose 3/4 against the Rays.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 09:56 PM) What else is new? Neither the White Sox nor the Tigers really deserve to make the playoffs, honestly. Why in Heaven's name you would walk Francouer, who's ABSOLUTELY SUCKED ALL SEASON EXCEPT AGAINST THE WHITE SOX WHEN THEY IDIOTICALLY THROW HIM FB's...to face Hosmer, with Thornton, just UNFATHOMABLE. It defies belief. The Angels and Rays series will doom the Sox.
  16. Mental midget baseball strikes again. Another opportunity squandered.
  17. Royals announcers surprised AJ is not in the line up. Batting 417 against Chen.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 08:59 PM) So it seems CY CHEN is back. 90% of the time when you completely blow a no outs, bases loaded situation...you're toast. We'll see if they can scratch across a run or two. Cue psychologically traumatized fanbase to freak out about the next 4 games, Guthrie and at the Angels. They should be freakin out now. Detroit forget they are not playing the White Sox. It's the red hot A's. They are owning the A's.
  19. Is is possible the A's could win their division. Love how close the AL division races are. How odd it woould be if A's, Sox, O's won their divisions.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 18, 2012 -> 01:09 PM) No joke. I don't know that I can recall a player not only changing his stats, but also changing his reputation so much in a year. He is my favorite player this year. I guess putting a player in a position where is more succesful can have a lot to do with it. This isn't the first time they try to turn everyone into a CF. Plus look at what Manto has done. A big reason why the Sox are in first is because of Manto.
  21. One thing hard to ignore that needs to be fixed. The Sox don't draft well. Take notes Jerry if you plan on being a budget minded owner.
  22. Despite Fielder missing that throw, Tiger's pen seems to be falling apart.
  23. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 17, 2012 -> 05:45 PM) My softball team takes offense to that comment OK. How about early 21st century White Sox teams.
