  1. QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 06:46 AM) I hope you're wrong, because tonight's matchup looks real bad for us. Plus Robin will probably do some dumb s*** again. We might get to see Dunn bunt for the 1st time in his career.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 08:00 AM) PK14 had a what, 6-7 game hit streak broken last night? His hits need to count more than a box score. He's been pretty ineffective with guys on.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 04:29 AM) Not about him being bad or awful. Simply the fact that he failed ONCE AGAIN vs. the Tigers, in a "big game" situation. It wasn't exactly "must win" compared to the way the games Wed and/or Thursday will feel in comparison, but it definitely will be seen as one of the many many turning points in the 2nd half of the season when we could have buried the Tigers and let them off the hook and back into it. That wasn't invented by Soxtalk or WSI. The Chicago media have pointed this out more than once.
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 06:54 AM) Kind of late in the game for this debate. He's got four more regular season starts and then he's either pitching in the playoffs or he's getting $4 mil to probably never pitch for the Sox again. Just hope for the best at this point. That will be the best $4M Kenny will spend in the off season.
  5. Coco Crisp with an inside the park tonight,
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 04:22 PM) Now would be a good time for him to earn that $9.5 million payday for 2013 if it's going to happen. Contract drive. We've seen one out of AJ. Meanwhile Jake Peavy at $16m and possibly $22M for 2013........YOU"RE FIRED!
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 10:34 PM) Not only is Jake Peavy not an ace, but I am sick and tired of hearing about this competitive "bulldog" bulls***. With two different franchises, he has proven that he will s*** the bed if you pitch him in a big game. 2005 NLDS: 4.1 IP, 8 H, 3 BB, 8 ER 2006 NLDS: 5.1 IP, 11 H, 1 BB, 5 ER 2007 "Game 163": 6.1 IP, 10 H, 4 BB, 6 ER 7/26/11 vs. DET: 6 IP, 10 H, 1 BB, 4 ER 7/20/12 vs. DET: 7 IP, 8 H, 0 BB, 4 ER 8/31/12 vs. DET: 6 IP, 9 H, 4 BB, 6 ER 9/11/12 vs. DET: 5.2 IP, 6 H, 2 BB, 3 ER And that doesn't include the 6-0 lead he blew against DET this May either. Maybe he gets too pumped up for big games, but Peavy is absolutely not to be trusted in a big game. He's needs to go back to the NL so he can have better numbers since the NL studs like Pujols and Fielder are not there. Ovaaaaa rated.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 10:42 PM) Youk is 2-32 vs the Tigers in a White Sox jersey. Fastballs in, offspeed pitches low and away every single AB. It would be interesting to see how that's compared when he was with Boston.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 10:30 PM) Sox have lost 5 straight starts by Peavy against the Tigers. He didn't pitch terrible against them tonight, but just once, you'd like to see him just dominate in a big game and not pitch just poorly enough to lose. You could probably say that about everyone on the staff. Aces bring confidence on the field. If they have to, they win the game on their own. Peavy has yet to dominate in a big game in his career or win one. He's been the worst acquisition of the Williams era is you want to go with $$$ per appearance. He's lost 11 games. The hype was big when he was on the DL.
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:36 PM) 6 innings, 3 runs is not choking. Especially given the fact that the Tigers have a good offense (and Peavy has been used like a whore in amsterdamn). It isn't dominating but it certainly isn't choking. How about the offense for failing to deliver and the bullpen for really s***ting the bed in the 8th (plus Youk/RV for the failed bunt). ERA 4.00 against division rival = choking. This would apply to Chris Sale as well. The Peavy Kool-Aid should be empty by now. He would have made a better Cub. Also momentum doesn't exist in Sox vocabulary.
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 10:17 PM) I'm tired of this baseball "book." I had people at the game tonight tell me that it was "baseball 101" to bunt with with Youlk in that situation. This "book" might have flew in the 40's but we all have these numbers to tell us how wrong this god damn fake book is. And that's not even counting the fact that we're having god damn Youk bunt. I haven't had much bad to say about Robin this year but there's no way to defend that bunt, an absolute horrid decision and there's no arguing that. That being said Leyland did the same bulls*** bunting earlier when you knew Miggy was going to get walked. Both managers embarrassed themselves tonight. Robin one upped him by using Liriano.
  12. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 10:12 PM) My belief is that Youk may very well be able to bunt. You don't need to bunt often to be able to bunt effectively. I think Youk and Robin both believed that he could bunt. Youk's pitch selection cost him a chance to prove either way. If his pitch selection on bunts against him was that bad, why do you think he'd have hit successfully? Maybe it's time to move him down the order.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:55 PM) Kinda like when he asked De Aza to squeeze on Sunday. All season, he was doing a good job of not using the bunt too much. However, it seems the pressure of the pennant race has caused him to go overboard with the bunt. The pen is so inconsistent that playing for a tie is playing to lose.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:39 PM) The whole problem with this game was bunting with Youkilis. You take the bat out of an aggressive fastball hitter's hands and put him on the defensive when we should have been playing for the lead, not the tie, there. Go for the jugular. With all the struggles with RISP over the last two weeks, I'd rather swing away with 3 at-bats by YOUK, Wise and Konerko than play small ball to try to extend the game, because the Tigers still have the overall bullpen advantage. Hit a homer that inning and the entire series and season shifts back to the White Sox. Now it's "uh-oh," Scherzer and Verlander are coming again, we're doomed, etc. If we want to go to the playoffs this season, we're going to need to prove we belong by winning one of these 2. Otherwise, we'll be 1-10 in our last 11 games played against DET. That's beyond pathetic, that's beyond anything we ever managed to do (negatively) against the Twins even. Getting b**** slapped by the division winning rival has been the footprint of the KW regime. There's gotta be some super computer running super sabre metrics to explain the mental midget breakdowns. It's obvious Peavy is a mental midget since his sample size has increased that he's 0 for big games. Then there's Youk who came from a team that choked last season. Kenny has also collected former Indians, Royals that only hurt the Sox and hurt the Sox more by wearing the uniform. Drawing 30,000 tells you that more Sox fans believe history will repeat itself in choking. The annoying part is getting owned by the division rival. That is the constant and Manuel, Ozzie and now Robin can't over come that.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:44 PM) One thing's for sure, if Floyd gets rocked early...we go to Axelrod and possibly Humber if it's a COMPLETE ROUT of 6+ runs or more down, but we definitely can't sacrifice 5-6-7 relievers coming into Thursday in a game where Sale might not get past 5 or 6. The difference between yesterday and today is like having a whore for a girlfriend. When you think your loved, the next day she's with someone else. I don't want to see Jake Peavy anymore. I'm sure the ace will come out facing Cleveland. Too many of the more experienced veterans on this team lay down in big games. I imagine PK will bunt tomorrow or even a Dunn PH sacrifice bunt.
  16. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:31 PM) HAHA not sure if you are serious or not but if this team loses it affects my ENTIRE next day haha....If they win im out on the streets signing autographs over here DEEEEEEP in Tigers/Indians territory Very serious. It was a great post. Watching A's vs. Angels or Dodgers vs. Dbacks is baseball. It's entertainment, no invested emotional interest. But watching a team coming off a high last night only to be ruined by Big Game Peavy which should be a more winnable game compared to Scherzer and Verlander...pisses most fans off. Could we have the other eye blackened on Peavy's picture please?
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:31 PM) How in the hell are we going to win 3 out of 4 against a team that owns us? Because Peavy will beat em....Oh wait..........
  18. I might check out the As and Angels. Oakland looking really good.
  19. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:26 PM) You can think that all you want haha....... Good one!
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:25 PM) I want to get Gordon up there so badly Me too.
  21. Valverde is another one Tiger fans want gone. He is like their version of Reed.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:19 PM) He was bunting from the very first pitch I missed that. I would think that would be Youks choice.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:15 PM) I'm pretty confident there wasn't a single person on this board that wanted Youk bunting. Am I the only one that thinks Youk decided to bunt on his own? Unless I'm wrong I didn't see him square around until after the 1st strike.
  24. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:10 PM) Sox fans losing their minds in this thread, lmao After last nights game, rookie with a tired arm shocks the fan base vs. Cy So Long Ago Can't Beat Detroit Big Game I'm Such A f***in Competitor Jake Peavy I can see the irrationality.
  25. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:08 PM) LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO you think Olmedo is young??? wow Bet you think Dan Johnson is 22 as well huh? You missed the point entirely.
