  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 07:16 PM) No. He definitely started gaining weight with the Twins, but eating with Cabrera and Fielder has taken is waistline to another level. Young is another guy fans don't want back. I hope he isn't one of those guys Kenny always wanted.
  2. Anyone notice last night PK still had his bat on the shoulder when the pitcher went into a wind up? Not there tonight.
  3. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 07:03 PM) These Tigers announcers sound so deflated..... How come Hawk only gets hammered for his homerism? Depends on who you are listening too. I like their TV guys. Tigers TV broadcast one of the best IMO. BTW anyone going to watch As vs. Angels on mlb.com?
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 06:40 PM) There used to be a stat that in the NBA, a scoring champion had never won a title. MJ destroyed that. Ozzie wanted to get away from depending on homers even though that and some great pitching got him a ring. Even on this board, homers were considered a bad thing for a while. For some reason people preferred doubles and singles. With a team that's not very fast, its not going to work unless you have .300 hitters with .370 OBP up and down the line up. Some still do when it comes to Ramiriez. I'll take his clutch hitting any day.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 06:31 PM) Who cares about RISP? Just hit homers. Well, that formula works pretty well until October, at least. One year that worked past October. It's the Sox MO.
  6. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 06:50 PM) Would you believe he is batting .350 with a .960 OPS the last 7 days? Hitting .323 for the month. He had a such a terrible August that it just seems for whatever reason he is still in that rut, even though he's come out of it a couple weeks ago. It's very hard to believe. But what about RISP?
  7. QUOTE (oldsox @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 10:27 AM) Sox had a good crowd last night (30,000+). Is this because if the teachers' strike? No. Expect Thursday's attendance to be down because of the Bears/Packers.
  8. The series that worries me is against the Rays. I think the Angels will be out if it by the time they play the Sox.
  9. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 09:53 PM) Do you want to see what some Tigers fans are saying? They sound as over-reactionary as some people here. "I just do not understand why they have not released him yet... Seriously he must give good bj's or something... Guy is hitting .172 with 1 Hr and the season is almost over... But that is good enough to not only start but to hit 2nd on a team trying to win a division... I guarantee pretty much every other team would have cut him by now " "Oh well. One step closer to Leyland being gone. " "Lol this team is just like the team that finished last in the division a few years back. " "This night has effectively ended our season imo " motownsports is like a mirror image of Soxtalk and WSI. Many of them have a good sense of humor. If you removed the head to head matchups, Tiger fans are going through what Sox fans use to go through with the Twins. On paper the Tigers are the more talented team but the Sox have been winning by playing better fundamental baseball most of the season where the Tigers have relied on out clubbing the opponents. Outside of their 3 and 4 hitters, they don't have a great supporting cast in their line up.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 07:47 AM) Brandon McCarthy is one of the coolest guys ever. That is all. I really hope he recovers. Even back in his minor league days he had time for all of his fans. Following his twitter feed he hasn't changed a bit, which is awesome. Hopefully he gets his big payday here soon, and more importantly can stay healthy. Brandon McCarthy ‏@BMcCarthy32 Does autocorrect have a brain injury edition? Jesus this s***'s impossible I just looked up his stats with the A's. He had a nice ERA for 2 seasons. Plus fans wanted him on the 2005 post season roster. I just hope this doesn't make his career regress like Matt Clement.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 09:38 PM) I know they're hitting awful with RISP right now, but at least they're getting base runners. Quintana, like Santiago and Axelrod recently, delivered in a big way tonight. Huge win, hopefully this settles the team down. Oh, and Donnie Veal is awesome! I would be nice to see how well Veal handles an inning. He was clutch.
  12. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 09:09 PM) Reed was wasted tonight. Good. He doesn't seem to do as well sober.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 09:12 PM) September 10, 2012 versus the Tigers. Good choice. Everyone worried about Q having a dead arm. This might be his best outing.
  14. After a tiger fan referred to Kenny as a brain damaged GM. Kenny Williams has been just as good or better than Dombrowski. For as bad as his farm system was supposed to be...he brought in a ton of arms that seem to have done very well.
  15. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 09:15 PM) I hope Peavy borrows Q's balls tomorrow. Me too. Or accept Q's salary for next season.
  16. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 09:11 PM) We need to crush them this series, they look exhausted and uninspired team, don't give them any chance to come back They looked exactly like the team they were facing the 1st 4 innings.
  17. On Reed This guy's ERA in non-save situations is over 6. Which means he strikes out the side.
