QUOTE (RZZZA @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 09:53 PM) Do you want to see what some Tigers fans are saying? They sound as over-reactionary as some people here. "I just do not understand why they have not released him yet... Seriously he must give good bj's or something... Guy is hitting .172 with 1 Hr and the season is almost over... But that is good enough to not only start but to hit 2nd on a team trying to win a division... I guarantee pretty much every other team would have cut him by now " "Oh well. One step closer to Leyland being gone. " "Lol this team is just like the team that finished last in the division a few years back. " "This night has effectively ended our season imo " motownsports is like a mirror image of Soxtalk and WSI. Many of them have a good sense of humor. If you removed the head to head matchups, Tiger fans are going through what Sox fans use to go through with the Twins. On paper the Tigers are the more talented team but the Sox have been winning by playing better fundamental baseball most of the season where the Tigers have relied on out clubbing the opponents. Outside of their 3 and 4 hitters, they don't have a great supporting cast in their line up.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 07:47 AM) Brandon McCarthy is one of the coolest guys ever. That is all. I really hope he recovers. Even back in his minor league days he had time for all of his fans. Following his twitter feed he hasn't changed a bit, which is awesome. Hopefully he gets his big payday here soon, and more importantly can stay healthy. Brandon McCarthy @BMcCarthy32 Does autocorrect have a brain injury edition? Jesus this s***'s impossible I just looked up his stats with the A's. He had a nice ERA for 2 seasons. Plus fans wanted him on the 2005 post season roster. I just hope this doesn't make his career regress like Matt Clement.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 09:38 PM) I know they're hitting awful with RISP right now, but at least they're getting base runners. Quintana, like Santiago and Axelrod recently, delivered in a big way tonight. Huge win, hopefully this settles the team down. Oh, and Donnie Veal is awesome! I would be nice to see how well Veal handles an inning. He was clutch.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 09:12 PM) September 10, 2012 versus the Tigers. Good choice. Everyone worried about Q having a dead arm. This might be his best outing. -

After a tiger fan referred to Kenny as a brain damaged GM. Kenny Williams has been just as good or better than Dombrowski. For as bad as his farm system was supposed to be...he brought in a ton of arms that seem to have done very well. -

QUOTE (JoshPR @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 09:11 PM) We need to crush them this series, they look exhausted and uninspired team, don't give them any chance to come back They looked exactly like the team they were facing the 1st 4 innings. -

On Reed This guy's ERA in non-save situations is over 6. Which means he strikes out the side. -

I thought Beckham would decide to show off like a moron and drop the ball, but nope, that only happens to Infante. .266 .331 .367 with 7 errors since the trade. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 09:02 PM) DET would be 1-9 if not for their 3 game sweep of us. They're struggling even worse than we are, and questions abound on Verlander's health. He has a miracle recovery when he faces the Sox. -

What bothers me is the veterans seem content with a 3 run lead in late innings. So you see really bad at bats. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 08:44 PM) Quintana to Omogrosso to Veal. Exactly how you draw up getting out the middle of the Tigers line up with the game on the line. I could see using Grosso since he looked awesome his last outing. -

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 08:40 PM) No problem with Veal but not using Myers or Crain for one batter is a bad decision there. One again Robin's looking like he is not sure what to do with the bullpen. That's the consequence of having an inconsistent pen. -

Tigers put a lot of fear in ya in 7-9th innings. They might expose the suckiness of the pen. -

I got a phone call from the Tigers today reminding me that tomorrow I can buy extra ALDS tickets.... nah.... don't think that's going to be necesssary. That $700 I spent today on a new hot water tank was God's way of saying "You won't be needing that money this fall anyway...." . -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 08:28 PM) 1/15 We were leading the majors at .294 not so long ago. We must be down around the low .280's at this point. That's still pretty good. That's how the Twins made their last playoff appearance. -

The team is playing tight. You can see it on their faces after making errors, Miggy getting tossed , first pitch swinging etc. I put that on lack of leadership and thats Leyland's job. Maybe not fair but thats the way it is. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 08:22 PM) IMO, better to let the reliever go out there to begin the inning, rather than inherit a baserunner and feel pressure from the time he enters the game. The scary thing is Reed will make it 4-3 or Meyers throws another one.
