  1. Am I the only one who doesn't miss Adam Dunn? I think his .200 wouldn't be helpful right now.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 10:19 PM) http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/gamelog/_/id/5883/zack-greinke TMRW, Zack Greinke Last 3 starts, 3 wins, 21 IP (7 IP in each game), total of 4 earned runs...1.71 ERA opposed by Ozzie's buddy, Anibal Sanchez Lots of pressure on Porcello and Fister the first two games next week, Scherzer has been great and Verlander has been horrible on the road. I'm going to make a silly prediction, whoever wins Game 4, Verlander vs. Sale, that team goes to the playoffs and the other team is out of the WC at the end of the season. A struggling Jose Quintana is going to have his ultimate start to set the tone...otherwise, an 8 game losing streak against DET falls onto Peavy's shoulders. Obviously, it's critical to win one of those first two games to alleviate the pressure on Liriano and Sale against the two Tigers aces. Just as much pressure on Verlander to show up on the road now in the biggest series of the season for both teams. I'm going to make a prediction more Tiger fans show up at the Cell than Sox fans. So it will be like road games for the Sox. Sox still need to take care of business tomorrow.
  3. From motownsports This ump is squeezing the hell out of JV. I'm about to go all Hawk Harrelson. That pitch called on Cabrera looked bad. I could see him getting ticked.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 10:26 PM) They were tremendous against KC until they got swept at Kauffman last series. Verlander exited after six innings and 97 pitches. Thus ended his streak of having thrown at least 100 pitches in 80 straight starts. That's more than double the length of any other such streak in the majors in the last few decades, according to Baseball-Reference.com. In Verlander's previous 227 big-league starts, there had been only 20 games (the recent KC start included) in which he allowed as many as four extra-base hits. He gave up that many in the first inning. Dead arm? He didn't look no where as good as Scherzer last Sun. He was facing a slumping Sox team. He was going into long counts when the Sox hitters let him.
  5. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 05:57 PM) Give me Crain from now on. It's September and this kid can't pitch without giving up a run, at least. Even that's questionable. They all scare me except for Veal.
  6. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 05:55 PM) Reed is bad. Good hitters can hit him easily. So do bad hitters.
  7. Greg would love this. There are times I wish we could designate Ozzie late in the game handling the pen.
  8. Please don't tell me this is another one of those giving teams a rally after two outs
  9. Blackout restrictions suck dick. Can't watch this game because Fux Sports thinks Dodgers game is more important.
  10. No Brent Morel on that list? Does Josh Phegley give anyone hope of this organization producing a decent catcher
  11. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 12:19 PM) We should enjoy this because after this year the immediate future of this team does not look promising. I was thinking the same exact thing. There is no MLB games scheduled in Dec.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 11:17 AM) This question was already addressed, re:Greg775 I guess I shoulda got a clue and read the forum title. Literacy does wonders. Defintely need a duh! smiley for my post.
  13. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 12:16 PM) This is now the AJ motivator thread. Post your false rumors here, upset AJ, And then he will hit a dinger and extend his middle finger to the mud slinger. We need one for Beckham. A test positive doesn't work for him.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 12:27 PM) I can give you $10 million reasons why Addison Reed is still closing. and Sox ownership wonders why fans don't show up for games An era of 4.5 for a bullpen guy is horrendous.
  15. Note to Robin: Do not have your most productive hitter of late bunt.
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 6, 2012 -> 11:12 AM) classy guy. his confrontation with the fan in Oakland was good stuff too You get what you pay for in baseball I'm not so sure about that.
  17. http://www.motownsports.com/forums/detroit...an-2-out-2.html Sounds so familiar doesn't it? I think the biggest difference for the Sox this year is their hitting with RISP.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 11:36 AM) Good timing, right when he has a bad start, to lower the backlash I hope the Nationals f***ing crash & burn in the playoffs. Some wish the opposite, so it makes Strasburg expendable.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 11:46 AM) Yeah, remarkable isn't it? I believe a few years ago there were stories about him having a real good 2nd half after he improved his conditioning during the year. Now we're seeing the opposite. I was wondering since him being somewhat of a young guy, he threw a lot of innings early in his career, if that has something to do with it.

  21. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 10:54 AM) Strasburg was just officially shut down for the season. More "mental" than "physical" as they said his head wasn't in last night's start. Sounds like the perfect White Sox.
  22. Since there is no need to discuss this anymore, should this thread be deleted and we move on to the AJ appreciation thread?
  23. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 10:06 AM) WHITE SOX still in first! If nobody else wants first, we will take it. Just stay a step Ahead. I think if there was another month and a half, the Royals would take it if they were all divisional games.
  24. Seven straight one-run losses. Pitching staff has given up 20 runs in the last 9 games and and are 4-5. That's not good for them.
