QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 11:13 AM) Carlos has Viciedo in two categories, and that is walks which gives him a better OBP. Everything else is pretty damn close to what Viciedo is giving, plus much better defense. And lets not even mention how many games Quentin misses on a yearly basis That ability to play in a game is an important stat.

Thanks Jake. Thanks Rios. BTW, looks like Beckham is hitting the ball again from the box score.

QUOTE (zirc @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 07:46 AM) It's just proof that pitcher wins are a complete non-statistic. I still think they have something to say like team confidence. Aces win 20 games and they even do it on bad teams. Wins can separate an ace from a good pitcher. Peavy is not an ace.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 11:19 PM) And all 16,000 wish they were someplace else. Sox didn't deserve a crowd after the last 6 in Detroit. And tonight? They could be 2 up? You can't blow opportunities like tonight. They'd be right back to 2 up but couldn't beat the s***ty Twins again. Unacceptable. I'd expect the crowd tomorrow will be 5,000 to 10,000. It's like the Sox got that early lead for once and just stopped playing. Was it 3-0 or 4-0 after two innings? What a joke. I just think there are some Sox fans that got a hold of crystal balls that you or I can never find. It told them to stay home and they did.

QUOTE (Cali @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 11:55 PM) Nobody wants it. I honesty think neither Detroit or Chicago will win more than one game in October anyway. Detroit would handle the Yankees. Sox starters are gassed. Also Sox owned the Rangers this year.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 12:23 AM) Stupid staches!! Detroit and Chicago both sputtering pretty bad here - who snaps out of it first? Neither. Sox beat up on Twins and Indians, Det. beats up on Sox and Twins. KC is a misery for both. Tigers can stop the Indians even at home.

Kenny questions team strategy in Detroit this past weekend.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 11:41 PM) What's the point of going to the press? Maybe he should have more than 3 starting pitchers who are capable of pitching in August/September...see Sale/Quintana being arm weary and perhaps mentally drained, as Quintana normally has played 140 game seasons. Where was he when we needed at least one more starting pitcher. Why did he hire a manager with NO experience, and now he's going to complain about it? As much as he gets defended for this season, and rightfully so, maybe we need both of them gone (Ozzie/KW) just so the entire organization can have a completely fresh start. Maybe even Cooper, although if there's anyone who should get the benefit of the doubt, it's probably him. When a 6 man rotation was possible, he decided 5. I'm still surprised this team is in 1st when 2 veteran starters are on the deal. I would like see Coop get a chance to work with Liriano in Feb. adn see how that works. -

I'd say some of those things reflect back on Kenny. It's the will, the intellect and the talent Fans always question will. Intellect-not sure what he means here. In the past we've seen a lot of baseball dumb Sox teams under Kenny. The exception is this year if you add fundamentals as intellect. He also hired a manager with no experience. Much is on him as well. -
Note to all Sox pitchers: Never throw perfect games. Signed, Phil Humber Mark Buehrle

Twins' won't be able to hit the ball tomorrow. The pitching wore them out.

MLB refuses to show the final inning.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 07:38 PM) That, and there is no competition. Let's face it, if Chicago had one team, that team would have an insane fanbase I still think there is a distrust with Sox fans when it comes to Reinsdorf and the team winning. These are the ones you probably never see here or WSI. If they were smart they would probably do some surveys. Who knows, it could be start times or other things.
-
Maybe Gordo can single handedly take down the Twins again.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 07:33 PM) No, that's not correct. Reinsdorf is notoriously tightfisted with the bulls and the front office has been extremely conservative for years, and they make bank on sellout after sellout. It is polar opposite with the white sox, Kenny the gambler, a competitive payroll, and fans don't show. 6 championships buys a lot of long term loyalty.

QUOTE (Baron @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 07:23 PM) If they make the playoffs they absolutely should. I see no reason why Jerry wouldnt give the green light. Even if they don't, being close, they might spend the money.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 07:21 PM) 7 straight retired...Konerko with a terrible at bat. Complimented with bad at bat by Dunn.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 07:18 PM) My only guess is that we're out of money. Which I think is a reasonable guess. He still probably could've added a serviceable arm for cheap though. I would think it was more about wanting a player. Money? Probably not.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 07:10 PM) I just hope they let Santiago start Sunday...he deserves another shot. Meanwhile, the White Sox offense doesn't respond at all to the crooked number. It's hack time and poor plate discipline.
-
QUOTE (oldsox @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 07:02 PM) They're laughing in Detroit. They're still losing.
-
It looks like the offense is back. Hopefully this isn't a game they decide to mail in. They can still win this.
-
On the bright side that Sox have a better winning % when Quntana doesn't have a quality start.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 06:50 PM) There's just no way they can start Quintana against the Tigers next week. If they pull him now....
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 06:48 PM) I'm of the opinion he needs to be shut down, and Stone seems to agree with it. They need Floyd back real soon.

Yankees are picking a bad time and opponent to lose to.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 06:09 PM) Almost nobody in the bleachers tonight. Lots of empty seats (rare sight) in Detroit as well. We are bad fans. Some public schools started today in Mich.
