  1. QUOTE (Caesar @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 08:43 PM) Trust me. I have more gambling knowledge in my little finger than you do in your entire body. Piss poor job of proving it.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 08:39 PM) I can't believe the Sox thought Septimo was a better option as a LOOGY all year than Veal. Cooper can be fallible. How long did it take for them to figure out Tony Pena sucked?
  3. QUOTE (Caesar @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 08:59 AM) * Judging by the line Vegas opened this game at, they believe Sale is out of gas too. Not looking goood. But, who knows. You have no clue how Vegas does things. They look at history of team performance on Sunday nights, home or away, scheduling and tons of other things.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 08:29 PM) I was way angrier in 2005 with the Indians charging hard and when the team was throwing away games in 2006 and 2010 (the Thome game). I flat out believe Tigers are the better, deeper team now. No shame in that, but I know a lot of people don't believe they're the better team. 3+4th guys are leaders in about every hitting category Congrats to Fielder for making quick transition to the AL.
  5. QUOTE (Caesar @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 08:28 PM) Because they have been leading this division pretty much all year. They choked in Baltimore and have continued to in Detroit. Its a pattern with this team. That is hard to ignore. The difference is it's Sept. and they aren't the usual 6+ games out.
  6. Right now the NL has to be pretty boring. The tightest race is 4 games.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 08:23 PM) You know I've been all for shuffling the lineup, but who's even worthy of being moved up in the order? Rios has struggled ever since the league realized he destroys anything on the inner half. Let's have De Aza and Wise PH for everyone.
  8. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 08:21 PM) I remember when we swept the Rangers and the Yankees. Fun times. They didn't just sweep the Rangers, they embarrassed them.
  9. Hudson to Beckham is like ESPN to Hawk. You actually start to miss them.
  10. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 08:12 PM) Paulie has looked pathetic for most of the year besides that one month he was ridiculously hot. He used to get clutch hits all the time, whats wrong with him? He's just being Paulie. At least it's not one of those season long slumps.
  11. Oh well, poor hitting puts a lot of stress on a young starter.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 07:49 PM) At least the Sox showed up tonight and weren't embarassed completely, but this game's still going to be a b**** to win. It won't bother me if it's a 1 run loss.
  13. QUOTE (Baron @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 07:49 PM) You understand what Im getting at though right? I think were pretty damn lucky to have Youk. Just think of all the naps you would be missing with Beckham batting 8th, Morel 9th.
  14. Stop hitting the ball to CF. He's the only guy that can catch a baseball.
  15. IF the Sox weren't slumping, they probably would have tagged Verlander for 4 runs. Verlander is not Verlander sharp tonight.
  16. It's also important to have good at bats so Sale can settle down. That other pitch that almost went out was a dammit I'm pissed pitch.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 07:28 PM) I have no idea, it's absolutely insane. There was such an uproar about it on Friday, and still nothing happened. They just refuse to make things easier for them right now. Even these dopey ESPN announcers suggested this when Hudson was up.
  18. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 07:27 PM) DAMNIT HUDSON. Just when you think you can trust Hudson-he'll f*** ya.
  19. Wow, got out of an inning throwin' in the 70's, almost Mark B style. I wish I could see this game on the Tigers broadcast. It's great. ESPN sucks.
  20. Just tuned in. Howz Sale throwin? I would laugh my ass off if Sox win 1-0. BTW ESPN is brutal.
  21. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 04:09 PM) Logically we're screwed, recent history at Comerica, injuries , Verlander, less than ideal lineup but screw logic !! Which may work. You have more guys in the lineup that can bunt.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 12:58 PM) So is Peavy...he has choked 3 times against the Tigers. No way they bring him back at those salary numbers for 2013. All things considered, what starter on the trade market was going to give you 5 good starts out of 7 and cost you next to nothing? Would we be any better off with Greinke now, having had to trade Trayce Thompson to get him? We have such an old core with AJ/Dunn/Rios/Konerko/Youk/Alexei that we need to reinvigorate it with some young power bats. We might have missed with Mitchell (still believe he's got a shot), but Thompson and Viciedo both have the ability to be 30+ home run guys in the future. And Hawkins, too. Hopefully Kenny shops Dunn to the NL. Sad is some of the replacements would be Morel and Flowers. Just think how bad this team would be with Beckham, Morel and Flowers in the lineup? I think they work some deal with Youk. As for Rios, playing RF and working with Manto is like having a new player on the team.
  23. QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 02:13 PM) What are the Trash Kats running out for their lineup? Sunday style too, or let's f***ing sweep style? Leyland plays Cabrera and Fielder every game. Who wouldn't? Either one of them going into a slump is fine by me.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 12:53 PM) He's about as good a fit as Brett Myers at $10 million next year for the Sox or Morel coming into the season as the starter at 3B. Flowers at C, I guess we might have no choice but to live with that one. Thinking about the possibility of not making the playoffs for the first time, it's hard to take away anything from this season...and 2011 was the most disappointing year in memory, not sure how we'll feel about the off-season until it gets here. Somehow, another late season fade and then losing Peavy, AJ and Youk might be harder to deal with than the feelings coming into 2012 because we were in first place for so long. Then you're looking at the definite probability of the Tigers being better (Martinez back, Scherzer coming into his own, Alburquerque back too) and the Sox taking 1-2 steps back. Still, the improvements from Thompson, the draft of Hawkins...the situation is more optimistic than last off-season at least. Maybe Cooper needs to part ways with Floyd and move on...and Thornton, as well. I could see Liriano as his replacement. Maybe he'll be Coop's next Contreras.
