  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 08:10 PM) That proposed Boston salary dump again shows how DUMB baseball owners are. All they do are slobber over these players in the offseason and sign them to HUGE contracts, then desperately try to get rid of the salaries during the season. It's insane. Unfortunately the people who have suffered because of these moronic baseball owners are the fans. Prices didn't have to go up, up, up if owners would never have decided to overpay these guys in the first place. They better hope there's not another deep recession or a true depression, cause these teams might finally go broke. Baseball owners would make great Washington politicians. They follow the same pattern. Over spend, pass the costs to someone else.
  2. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 07:37 PM) 231 hitter with only 4 rbis and we give up a dinger to him. That's so White Sox. If it happened with 2 outs, only icing on the cake.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 07:27 PM) DUNN! He woke up this thread. Thank goodness. When I first came to this thread the posts were about porn. There is now evidence of a game thread. BTW the Sox should be kicking this team's ass.
  4. QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 11:39 PM) The Player's union would NEVER agree to a lost roster spot. It's time for someone in baseball to say "screw the union".
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 12:57 PM) I'll stop commenting on Ozzie again since so many people get upset when I comment on Ozzie. I did have one final question on the matter however that hopefully won't get me banned. Which sentence best describes your position. ... "I wish greg would stop commenting on Ozzie and never mention Ozzie again. His posts bother me greatly and I'm sick of them." or ... "I like reading greg's posts about Ozzie when Ozzie is in the news. They are harmless and I like discussing Ozzie with him." Thanks. I'll now give it a rest and stop commenting on Ozzie. Soxtalk is obsessed with Ozzie. We have a Miami Marlins thread. It probably has more activity than a Marlin's fan site. I do find it funny who these million dollar athletes are suppose to get coddled with words like grade school children.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 05:23 PM) Johan Santana is 3-7 with an 8.27 ERA since he threw 134 pitches in his no-hitter. The Mets will shut him down for the season. It seems like the norm for guys who throw no hitters or perfect games regress after it.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 10:54 PM) Sox deserve credit for not letting those 3 losses to the Royals completely bury them. Losing 3 in a row to that horses*** team could have ended the Sox season, sending them spiraling downward. Think they'll keep this dynamic pricing for next season? Fans don't have the moolah cause of Obama. Kidding about Obama, but we're in an economic crisis, baby! Lower those prices and charge 10 bucks for parking til the crises is OVA!!!! You could see the D-Backs vs. Marlins at noon for $10 today.
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 10:16 AM) Also, reasons like tonight are why I hate blackouts. A far superior media outlet (in terms of video quality, graphics, etc) is nationally broadcasting our game, and we get the choppiness of WCIU. Also, I like getting the perspective of the Sox from the broadcasters other than Hawkeroo sometimes. I think the Sox have been on Sunday night baseball once this year? Sometimes you get stats that you didn't know. One broadcast posted 5 Sox players hitting above .300 with RISP.
  9. Can't beat the Royals. Can't Beat the Tigers. Win the division? Don't think so.
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 09:30 AM) I swear, if we lose again to this awful pitcher, I'm going to lose it. Actually the Sox will probably lose the division in the end because they can't beat the Royals.
  11. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 17, 2012 -> 09:19 PM) I don't know why you would bunt off a guy throwing 100. Especially when the guy isn't showing great control.
  12. It's your typical patented White Sox mental midget performance against the Royals.
  13. I get so tired of the Royals Pitching Clinic every time they face the Sox.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 11:38 AM) After seeing that Soriano said he had no interest in going to the Giants, and know that he turned down other trade opportunities, it makes me wonder... Is there something in the Old Style there? The fans don't care about winning, the players don't care about winning... It just amazes me that an awful baseball team, in an antique ballpark, has all of these players (such as Sori, Dempster, Wood, etc) who never want to leave. Phil Rodgers, "No team could use Soriano more than the Rays". Rumor has it Detroit was interested at one time.
  15. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 08:46 PM) Season high 13 games above. Anyone know when the last time this happened?
  16. QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 08:44 PM) If you have 5 senses, you are obviously not a Cub fan. Post of the week.
  17. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 12:55 AM) With regard to those ups and downs, I genuinely feel that's been the biggest difference in the regimes. They are obviously better prepared and sharper fundamentally, but the Sox have never had a really long bad stretch throughout the season, and they've only really had one semi-extended stretch where they were really good, those being two 3-10's and one 1 13-1 stretch. Otherwise, they have legitimately played about .550 ball all year long. I haven't had this much fun following a team since 2008, and even then they were on dire straits by the end of the year and really lucked into a playoff appearance. That's something I can't recall seeing in any Sox team this century. AJ is throwing guys out, Rios is awesome in RF. People are put in better situations to succeed which may not have always been possible in previous seasons. The only thing that still worries me is lack of ML experience in some players and manager.
  18. He’d be available for a theoretical NLCS. So Bud Selig. If it were Bettman the suspension would allow him for the post season.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 08:16 PM) That's fine. And that's my point. What percentage of those have come in the last 4 years? It's just not as big as it once was. The pitching today is the best it's ever been. These arms being produced every year just baffles me. Velocity is way up. Seems like everybody has a + breaking ball to go with that velocity. Babe Ruth would be John Kruk in today's game. I don't know if that's true. I do think there is a great divide between the aces and the very good and there is an even bigger drop off after that. I look at some older players who are suppose to be on the downside like AJ and Jeter and they are having abnormal seasons.
  20. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 09:08 PM) Liked the Ventura hire from the beginning, but I refuse to pile on Guillen. His time was clearly up, but he was the right hire at the right time. He won a World Series. Glad to see someone gets it. Ozzie-He gone. No need to bring him up constantly.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 08:23 PM) Supposedly, Cooper really loves Septimo, Veal was pretty impressive his first stint and looks good again tonight. I hope it's not another Pena scenario.
  22. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Aug 14, 2012 -> 08:01 PM) I love cruising Tigers forums after a White Sox win. Is is doom and gloom or confident the Tigers will take the division?
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 14, 2012 -> 05:31 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@DanHayesCSN #WhiteSox 6th in #MLB in '12 w/ 43.4% of runs scoring on HRs. Of late, figure has soared to 61%. Hence lineup change. Kinda like 2005-2006. I did not know this but found out listening to the Toronto broadcast that the Sox have 5 guys hitting over .300 with RISP.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 14, 2012 -> 07:41 PM) GAME! Great job by Reed, and we got a lot of hard hit outs right at our defender. Just how awesome is Rios now he's playing RF?
