  1. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 21, 2011 -> 09:38 PM) Does Walker deserve credit here? NO!
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 08:22 PM) If just once someone blamed Cooper and was actually serious about it, when a pitcher sucked like they blame Walker when a hitter sucked, I'd stop my crusade. Cooper doesn't have a contract for next year. It could be the organization wants a complete change. Floyd and Danks are looking more and more like 5th starters on a good team.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 08:49 PM) Dick, curious what your thoughts are on this article from a couple weeks ago. I quoted a big chunk of it in one of our threads. Pay particular attention to section "no. 3". Now that was a great article.
  4. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Sep 21, 2011 -> 12:29 PM) Or is it simply that when the team continues to fail, they both started fingering each other? And going to Daddy (JR) about it? This and both have a different philosophy of what makes a good ball club. The rest is concocted by the media to turn this into soap opera.
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 21, 2011 -> 08:19 PM) I KNOW! Way to pour it on when they should be playing for the draft pick. It would be hard to be all giddy over that since this is where the organization goes cheap.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 07:18 PM) Morel is a rookie, Pierre is doing what he always does, Ramirez, AJP what they always do. There are 3 White Sox underperforming offensively, Dunn, Rios and Beckham. Even though the AL league ERA is 4.06, no Cooper bashing for Floyd and Danks being below average. You can always start a thread about Cooper.
  7. Meanwhile the AL wild card race is getting interesting.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 08:52 AM) We could be the laughing stock of baseball, versus Kansas City having been the laughing stock for 20 plus years now. But they have a great farm system that has yet transitioned them to a winning franchise. Do they have "We suck as baseball but at least we don't have a high payroll" t-shirts in KC.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 10:28 PM) Well, great night all-around. All the young guys look good, and the old guys were bad. I'm startin to get sick of seeing the seasoned vets play or whatever they call it.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 09:34 PM) So Dunn makes great contact on a ball, and only hits it about 375 feet. What the f*** happened to his power? Morel stole it.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 09:07 PM) Ozzie seems determined to ruin the ERA of most of our starters. Embarrassing few weeks for Mr. Don Cooper. If he doesn't the pen will help him out.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 06:15 AM) That's a stretch. They are supposed to learn fundamentals when they get to AAA? They are suppose to learn them in ST in the Sox organization.
  13. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 03:45 PM) Are the veterans going to respond to a rah rah kind of guy? You know, I'm not certain I understand what style manager Ozzie is. He doesn't seem like the Rah Rah type, but he doesn't seem quiet either. He defies discription. I do know repalcing him with another him isn't the answer. There's only one other manager I can think of that would constantly bat Adam Dunn 4th would be Dusty Baker. Ozzie is like a Bobby Knight with the media but a too friendly with the players. That's why there is probably some complacency along with no fear of losing their starting jobs because of a weak farm system. Reinsdorf needs to ditch the loyalty thing.
  14. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 06:04 PM) I'm pretty sure if Adam Dunn OR Alex Rios actually hit the ball, they'd be a lot closer or leading the division right now. If both were... shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt nuff' said I don't know. Someone else would take over to have a really off year. The potential is there when you have Walker.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 08:29 PM) Not unlike us against the Tigers, Twins and Royals for most of the past 3 seasons. Where our homefield advantage went is one of the biggest mysteries yet unsolved by this organization. The Sox are the first team I think of when it comes to mental midgets. They don't show up for big games. They don't beat the teams they are suppose too. Maybe we are blinded to how bad this team is. If Dunn was living up to expectations, someone else on this team would offset that.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 08:20 PM) Greg, how many years have we been saying this about the Royals? Until they get the quality starting pitching, at best they are a .500 club but probably not even that unless Moustakas can start hitting with authority. They are mental midgets. Losing is a habit for them.
  17. I wish we could play the Twins some more.
  18. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 09:23 PM) Laker deserves a promotion at this point. Hopefully Kenny will fire Walker or be allowed to.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 05:49 PM) It's a legitimate question. On one side of the coin are those who say Ozzie has created an environment of complete "non-accountability." So we are to believe the players fought back "just enough" to keep their manager in his position but not enough to win th division? If the entire clubhouse just went completely south...wouldn't we have seen some type of "death spiral" down to 20-25 games below .500, as has happened two times with the Twins this year? Speaking of accountability...Gardenhire b****ed all season about the call ups not knowing the fundamentals. The Twins just fired some of their AAA coaches.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 03:48 PM) Yeah. Those 50 plate appearances tell you the whole story. I thought it was his fielding that got rid of him.
  21. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 09:10 AM) I definitely have to disagree. He just seems like a child, grabbing all of the attention that he can. I certainly don't think he's made anybody look like a fool. Maybe it's Ozzie. We have Cowley and now Ozzie.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 01:13 PM) How in the heck could Manning EVER consider playing again? I mean baseball is much less contact, so much less, and Crede's back is wrecked. Manning is going to get hit in the back a lot. If he plays again he has a screw loose. Isn't there danger in playing, ptatc? Peyton Manning's problem is different.
  23. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 02:23 PM) the only answer to underachieving players is to cut them, even if its the first year of a huge contract. its impossible for a manager to simply bench them and try it again next year. When there is a commissioner with a set of balls and owners with some common sense that tells the players union to f*** off, then under achieving players could be cut. It would probably reduce the under achieving and remove those who have no talent. Until then...dream on.
