  1. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 02:49 PM) Less than 40 posts In a game thread? This is a sad part of the year when everyone is watching football and nobody cares about my White Sox. It's such a shame too because IMO MLB>>>>NFL. There's probably a lot of people that would disagree with you but I'm sick of the over marketing of the NFL. Plus living in a warmer climate it's really nice outside during the NFL months. I just can't stay inside to watch 6-9 hours of football. Back in the Midwest I would pay more attention to the NFL after Oct.
  2. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 01:34 PM) I been watching the White Sox game since it came on.. Could care less about the Bears.. SO you are not alone! Now if the Hawks were on... Well then that different! Me too. I'm a Colts fan and since Manning is out, now I wish baseball would never end.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 07:53 AM) And considering that 14 other NFC teams have yet to play a meaningful game. The first game and maybe the next two are not always the best measurement of a team's performance. The NFL is kinda bad the first month.
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 02:22 PM) Colts games were getting unwatchable the last year or two anyway. I was getting sick of Peyton, turning into Favre #2, no thanks. As a fan, I felt the same way. They were not a good team. In fact I only watched the 2nd half of the playoffs cause I knew they were not a Super Bowl team.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 10:16 PM) Tyler Flowers is now hitting .210 and walking back to the dugout a lot. If you hate AJ, chances are Flowers is going to drive you to a rubber room. AJ wouldn't be getting $6M if the organization had a decent catcher. The other prospect was hitting .155 in AA. I think every organization probably faces this problem. I guess if any kid has a dream of making it to the bigs, they should try to become a catcher or a switch hitter.
  6. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 12:53 AM) I remember reading a quote from Schueler after the White Flag trade where he said he just didn't like that team anymore. That's where I am with this group. With the exception of Sale, there isn't a player on the roster that I'd be upset losing. I remember watching Schueler back in the late 70's as a pen guy. Who would have thought he turned out to be a good baseball exec.
  7. Some of there are really good. One poster during a game thread, "White Sox Baseball. We put the Fun in dysFunctionality." The slogan you here from KW and JR is "come see a lot of bad baseball and we promise to make it better'.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 01:40 PM) What's the point? It can't be proven. It'd be your opinion vs whoever. Maybe someday people will drop the idea that with Thome they win the ALC in 2010. People still want to beat that dead horse. We might as well beat that dead horse of acquiring him via trade has a bad idea too.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 11:42 PM) Hudson with a CG win. *cue the it doesn't count because it came against the Padres comments* Wins are only suppose to be meaningless when it comes to "ace John Danks". I watched that game last night until the 6th. They faced a rookie with a great curve ball. The DBs aren't exactly a offensive juggernaut either. Hudsons been doing pretty good at the plate for a pitcher.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 08:47 PM) Looks like Mark's ready for the offseason. I wonder if all those perspective buyers realize he's only good until August.
  11. I'm watching this while peeking in at Phils and Brewers. The only way to describe the Phils is invincible. Later I'll see if Hudson can get #16. Detroit took the lead at Minn.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 09:46 PM) And in fairness, Morel hasn't done much until the games became meaningless. It was hard to forget the Josh Fields impersonation last Sunday.
  13. I always thought Flowers wasn't going to be anything special at the plate. I guess he Ks a lot. He might as well learn to bunt.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 01:19 PM) This is utterly absurd. Why in the heck is he playing so much? Kenny's bettin' another GM will take him.
  15. I flipped between the Sox and the Phillies game. They own Atlanta but the games are close.
  16. I've probably seen more "expert" predictions rarely pick the Sox to win the division.
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 11:02 AM) 2nd place? We haven't been eliminated! We can still pull this out! Have faith. Did your closet run out of room for the ALC 2nd Place T-shirts?
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 02:12 PM) Yeah, I didn't really get that point. Peyton being out is bad for football. Colts games have now become unwatchable. The NFL is going to take a hit in ratings on those nationally televised games.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 02:15 PM) The cool thing to do in NWI has been to jump off of the Bears bandwagon and on to the Colts. 10 years ago you couldn't find a Colts fan in Indianapolis, let alone in the Chicago market. That's as bad as trying to understand why IL has so many ND fans.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 01:59 PM) The crappy thing is that it only takes on bad year to end up with a player like that. It sure worked for the Spurs years ago. They could have also ended up with Ryan Leaf and Rickey Williams. A lot of top NFL picks have flopped or haven't lived up to their status especially QBs this century. Drafting offense that high is more of a crap shoot. Plus I never understood all of these coaches having their 1st pick QB hold a clipboard the first season. Some of the great ones never did that.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 07:35 AM) Maybe now some of the morons will put away the Colts gear. While the rest of us morons will be putting away our Sox gear. Mods should show better taste instead of posting something like this.
  22. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 01:19 PM) ESPN's Chris Mortensen confirms that Peyton Manning underwent cervical fusion surgery on his neck Thursday morning. Manning's recovery timetable is 2-3 months at minimum. Per Mort, there's no word yet on the possibility of injured reserve. We imagine the Colts will hold off on that decision as long as possible, though the season is circling the drain. Manning won't play before Halloween and possibly not until Thanksgiving. Kerry Collins is still just a low-end QB2 in what will likely be a more run-oriented offense than it's been under Manning. Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Austin Collie, and Pierre Garcon all take severe blows. Only in stats. Other than that they won't have to worry about much contact which is good for Collie.
  23. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 01:30 PM) He's not going to play this year. If you are a life long Colts fan this really sucks. He isn't going to last forever. The most difficult thing for any team to do these days is draft a QB. I believe the talent coming out of college has really regressed in the 10 years. Angelo was smart in giving up those picks for Cutler. They most likely would have been wasted on QB busts. The Colts have been fortunate to have 3 franchise QBs in their history with Unitas, Jones and Manning. They could use an Earl Morrall right now. I hope they don't plan on playing him when he returns. They might as well go for a better pick in the draft. Now I wish baseball season would go another month. I'm starting to get turned off by the NFL with their over hype. Give some props to MLB for allowing fans to watch games on the web for a decent fee instead of forcing people into an over priced TV package. There's no point for me to watch the NFL, so bring on the NHL.
  24. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 10:59 PM) http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_...04806086589-996 Rios is pretty damn strong and athletic...too bad he can't do much with it on the baseball field. And it's also good to see that he might actually give a s***. This is probably the first time he's ever drawn heavy criticism.
  25. Shoulda played as many kids as possible today. The veterans are sucking in men on base.
