  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 11:00 PM) Do you admit Sergio has had a great season as closer? He has imploded a few times but who hasn't on this s***ty team? Some saves are padded. Me might have decent stuff but not the brain to match it.
  2. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/show/670-the-score-interviews/# Listen to the Ken Rosenthal interview on M&H.
  3. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 09:31 PM) Caulfield, I agree, I don't think both are back.. But, if the Sox Fire Ozzie, and the team does worse.. then what? Kenny probably stays but not as GM.
  4. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 11:02 PM) I didn't state that, but was that the #1 problem last year the DH? Some people want to believe that.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 07:40 PM) The point the objectors to Ozzie are making is even if he had to play Rios and Dunn to "get them out of their slumps", he didn't need to be putting them in the spots usually reserved for run producers. The sad thing is they weren't the only 2 easy outs in the lineup.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 10:03 PM) Why does Sale have to start the season in AAA? We likely won't be playing for anything meaningful in the majors. Let him start up in the bigs. There's probably a long list of extreme hard throwers who have short careers or regress after a few productive seasons. Guys like this you have to be very careful how you handle them.
  7. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 10:02 PM) Cabrera is 2/8 against Sergio with 2 HR's, 2 RBI, and 3 Strikeouts. I love calling our rookie closer (who was fielding ground balls 3 years ago and has been one of the best closers in the game this year) a "mental midget". High high comedy Sorry, I'm not a buyer yet. Let's see what happens next season if Coop's boys can handle the pressure. This is the Sox MO for the 21st century.
  8. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 08:16 PM) Raise your hand if you wanted De Aza on the team coming out of spring training Not me. I like what the Charlotte hitting instructor is doing with those guys. Walker would turn them into Beckham.
  9. I think you need to see more of both especially in pressure situations.
  10. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 06:07 PM) ...? Because of the Tigers game? There have been plenty of times when he's come right at Miggy. He just lost that match. Nope. There have been instance before and also the first game of the dh.
  11. How many other teams in baseball had a scenario similar to the Sox?
  12. As for Sale being a starter, don't they have to stretch him out? How is that going to happen? It should have been done this year. I'm not ready to crown Santos the closer. He's showing signs of being a mental midget.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 03:15 PM) Thats a last place team Marty. I would rather keep some of the guys you suggested we trade and just let Buehrle go With that line up, no way is Marty Joe Cowley.
  14. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 03:09 PM) So why are Dunn and Rios playing? Better question...Why am I bothering with this argument? I guess to move up a couple slots in the draft.
  15. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 09:06 PM) Crazy game. Hopelessly embarrassed last night. Supposed to be worn out after playing night game and then day-night DH. Now this. Who can figure this game out? I think it proves this team can't deal with pressure. IF they are 12 out by the time they face Detroit, they will probably sweep them.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 08:57 PM) If Walker's back next year, you almost have to try and trade him if he has any value left. He's one more bad year away from losing starting status in the majors. I wonder what we could get for Walker.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 08:44 PM) "Twins have had 7 hits today and they all came in the first game" -Bert We know what that's like.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 07:57 PM) I'm not so sure Beckham could hit higher than .265 in AAA this year. He's just a really, really poor hitter. He might have better chance with a different batting instructor.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 07:19 PM) Of course everyone is going to rip Ozzie I really doubt that.
  20. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 03:30 PM) This isn't good. Blown save coming? This could be a guy with decent stuff but lacks the IQ to match it. If this pattern continues I wonder how this will change their long term plans with Sale.
  21. QUOTE (chiguy79 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 03:27 PM) I could have used a santos save here for my fantasy playoffs, since the sox are out of it they could at least help me out! Reality didn't work so good for him on Sat.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 03:27 PM) Just to get this straight. In these scenarios would you blame Oz today? 1.) Sergio now gets rocked and we lose? 2.) Sergio loads the bases and Oz doesn't take his CLOSER out? Just wondering cause my guess is even though this is an automatic move I think people would blame Ozzie saying he should have left Matt in. Would you blame Ozzie? Or would u blame Sergio? I blame players; I think most would blame Oz. Santos is on my mental midget list. Coop's boyz fail under pressure. Today I think they know they are out of it so I expect the staff to perform well.
  23. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 02:51 PM) Maybe no bat speed is because of no confidence? I don't know maybe the guy needs glasses or something. It is troubling for sure Maybe he should switch hit for the rest of the season. It couldn't be any worse.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 12:58 PM) Has anyone who is blaming Walker played baseball beyond the freshman level in HS? That's often a meaningless question used to try to get people to shut up. It might be possible that Steve Jobs has never assembled a Mac Book Pro and that doesn't disqualify him from making judgments based on data. There's been a pattern under Greg Walker. Maybe it's coincidence. The only way to find out is to replace him. If the pattern is still there then you blame the scouting. It's hard to ignore that the players from Charlotte have a far better approach at the plate than Morel and Beckham. Going from AAA into the majors is still a big leap but somehow these players have been successful for the short term. You can't blame Kenny for being upset that a once top prospect has become terrible at the plate. I still believe that keeping Viciedo down in Charlotte was more for his protection. They probably wanted to make sure his defense improves so that doesn't effect his hitting and to keep him from Walker. There could also be other reasons like the park itself. It's home run friendly. When they start putting them in the seats in batting practice I imagine that's all they want to do. The coaching staff may be too easy going. There's no evidence to the fans that when the whole team goes thru it's hitting woes the coaches call for hitting practice during the day at home games.
