QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 08:10 PM) Alex! I think I am your only fan! But I am cheering loudly! He is playing better since De Aza came up.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 08:10 PM) 1.) Don't blame Cleveland. We suck as well. The Sox tired them out for the Detroit series.

IF MB is gone nest season and KW is still here, it will be hard to be "all in" next season other than checking out the box score. They would have to win the division or go far in the post season for me to forgive them.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 11:53 AM) Adma Dunn got two singles last night. That's not bad except we haven't seen an extra base hit or RBI in awhile. But maybe he is starting to make contact with the ball now adn not the air. I refuse to dislike Adam Dunn like some fans. He could be a real asshole like some athletes are when having poor years but he's willing to talk with the media and seems humble about it.
-
So does Dunn have a 2 game hitting streak?

My whacked out theory is Reinsdorf and Kenny want Walker gone more than Ozzie. They only way the get rid of Walker is to get rid of Ozzie. This may be the reason why we haven't seen Viciedo up. They might be afraid Viciedo could be the next flash in a pan rookie under the Walker era.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 10:38 PM) After tonight, I'm convinced Chairman Reinsdorf will make the right decisions this offseason. The Sox have so many built in advantages over most teams in MLB that it won't take long to get better. What are these "built in advantages"?

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 08:59 PM) Uhera-Adams-Feliz could potentially be murder come October. Very underrated rotation and an offense as explosive as any in the game. We need to steal their scouts and instructors.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 08:57 PM) Just a pathetic offensive effort tonight. Yeah, they only needed 8 runs to win.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 08:40 PM) They're just a boring team. The two most exciting players on the team are probably relievers. I probably pay more attention to Soxtalk than the team.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 08:46 PM) The Sox are setting themselves up for just a gigantic PR disaster if they lose Buehrle this offseason because they're payroll is too high led by guys like Rios and Dunn. I think Buehrle is the team's best all around pitcher. He fields his position and holds runners on base.

QUOTE (SI1020 @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 12:58 PM) His swing is not like it was at Georgia, and is longer and loopier than it was when he first came up. What is it with the Sox? Borchard, Crede, Fields, and Anderson all had major holes in their swings too. Crede finally was getting it together and then his back gave out. Do they teach guys to try to pull and kill the ball? This is exactly the kind of situation that a good hitting coach should be able to respond to. All of these players had great potential and only Crede was able to have somewhat of a decent career. This thing with Beckham makes me ill. Maybe they lack a lot of baseball IQ. That doesn't seem to be important in this organization. Maybe the Cell and the affiliates are too hitter friendly and guys spend their time trying to jack homers during batting practice. Maybe JR and KW know Walker is a terrible hitting coach and that's why Viciedo hasn't been brought up yet.
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 01:07 PM) The fact that Beckham doesn't look like how he was at Georgia, in the minors, and in 2009 is the biggest indictment of Walker. We had a guy who most baseball experts were sure was the next great second baseman and while he is turning into a defensive wizard, he should be a top flight offensive 2B, but instead has a long, scared swing. Then again http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,2253213.story But a veteran National League scout who watched Beckham play in the Arizona Fall League in 2008 predicted that Beckham's long swing could get him into trouble and said he wasn't fully convinced that Beckham would blossom into a productive hitter. I guess he didn't get a chance to break out of it spending time in the minors.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 11:05 PM) Is Ranger still performing the same ole song and dance regarding this lovely White Sox team? If Hawk retires before he dies, I'd like to hear what he really has to say.
-
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 10:42 PM) With the lack of passion that this team shows on a regular basis, I can't believe anyone still defends and wants to keep Ozzie. I could see blaming that on Guillen if it were a bunch of kids but these are veterans. Then again I'm starting to think Ozzie is a boisterous version of Dusty Baker.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 10:58 PM) Ranger talking about Beckham having to work on his swing in the offseason....can't do it now. So that's Dunn, Rios, and Beckham that have offseason projects. This team is a joke from top to bottom. I'm calling bulls*** on the Ranger. Go take some batting practice in a cage for a few hours.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 12:54 AM) If this front office (at least the coaching staff) isn't completely overhauled I'll probably get thrown out of Camelback Ranch at least 3 times this spring. I'll be the biggest asshole out there...guaranteed! I would have to question why you would go there since the tickets are over priced there as well. Best to catch them on the road.

QUOTE (hawksox13 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 10:39 PM) Did you see the Indians catcher with the huge fist pump right behind Beckham's head immediately following Beckham's K? It was over the top. That's why Sergio hit the first batter up. I liked it, but I would've liked a win a whole lot more. This team just isn't going anywhere. That's the sad reality. Oh, and it looks like Beckham will turn out more like Mark Ellis than the perennial all star that some of us thought he'd be. Sobering night. If I'm Sergio I would want to plunk Beckham for choking twice. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 10:40 PM) 1.) Hopefully LaRussa realizes Walk is overmatched. I honestly don't think it's going to be LaRussa. Hopefully it's not just Cora. I want some old guy who will be willing to bench Dunn/Rios and even Becks if Beckham hits like this. Second basemen can't hit sub .250. 2.) I would think if Coop can't land a managing job he'd go with Ozzie. I would think Oz would really persuade him. No sane baseball exec would want Cooper for a manager. If Ozzie goes, Coop will follow him since he doesn't have a new contract. The offseason is going to be pretty interesting. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 10:33 PM) Well, at least we know he'll be gone next year as well. The new skipper won't keep him. Should be interesting to see what the franchise is like with new manager/hitting coach/GM. Unfortunately we probably need to keep this pitching coach, but he'll probably be off to Florida with Oz. That's a lot of what could be false assumptions. If by chance LaRussa were to come here what makes you think he wouldn't keep Walker? He did play under LaRussa. -

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 10:24 PM) We get Harrison, Ogando, Holland, and one of the best offenses in baseball on deck. and the pen could really use some rest....so much for that -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 10:21 PM) Do you want Becks at second next year if this is the true Becks? DeAza seems athletic enough to play anywhere. That's the KW philosophy. Athletes and baseball players are two different things. You can't really experiment at the big league level. -

You really have to worry about the next 2 series. I can't see them dominating the Rangers and then it's to the West Coast were they don't fare too well. -

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 10:06 PM) He's killing us. That may have been the biggest, saddest out of the season. The ease with which he can be had low and away OR up is scary. Can we see him, Dunn, Rios, Morel etc. with someone besides Walker??? That Rasmus deal looks good now. Maybe his dad could work with them too. -
