QUOTE (MAX @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 09:02 PM) Humber doesn't get hit in the face, maybe we win this one, and take second place. I'm not at all prepared to say that cleveland is a better team. I'd like to steal some of their hitting instructors. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 08:57 PM) I think Cleveland wins the division. Detroit 2nd. Chi or Minnie third. The way things are going, the Twins may challenge KC for the basement. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 08:53 PM) Heard on the radio today that Rios is having one of the worst seasons for a starting outfielder in baseball history. Morel's also on pace to be one of five guys to ever have less than 5 walks with over 300 ABs. I heard that on the SCORE. Joe Sheehan wrote about that on Twitter? -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 08:49 PM) Too bad other teams don't bunt with man on first and no outs. Other teams hit better. Their worst hitter isn't batting clean up either. It's like watching a NL team batting their pitcher 4th. -

I have a feeling this game is going to go from bad to worse. -
I'm a little more worried about the next two series.

QUOTE (chisoxt @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 08:04 AM) I don't see any way LaRussa after 32 years as a big league manager with two WCs under his belt, starts over as a manager for the Sox next year. I see LaRussa's next move being a front office position, and given JRs itchiness to hire LaRussa back, and recent history of making 'out-of-the box' (read: wierd) hires, would it not be entierly possible that he could hand Tony the GM job? I have this feeling that Rick Hahn will NOT be the next Sox GM. The shrapnel from the awful Kenny moves of recent years may have damagaed Hahn's luster from Jerry's perspective. That's a great possibility. He might be an interim manager then moved into the office.

No wonder our farm system is in a Shambles

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 12:23 PM) I agree with this. How many of these draft picks are even gonna sniff the major leagues, let alone be productive? They need better scouts and instruction. Some of the former prospects like Anderson and Fields are so bad they are almost out of organized baseball. You really can't afford to be missing like that too much. Than fans' most prized prospect happens to be more suited to play DH. Something is wrong with this picture. You have to wonder if these weaknesses are caused by putting friends and family in positions they are not qualified. The problem may be the chairman himself. -
QUOTE (WHITESOXRANDY @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 01:27 PM) The only bad year of his career was with the Sox. What does that tell you? I wish knew that answer. Even Mark T., even though a bad player regressed here. Coop seems to get a good season or two out of a pitcher, so maybe Ozzie and Walker have something to do with it.

This season is a statement on organizational resiliency

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) If the Sox refused to hand out large contracts we would pretty much be the laughingstock of baseball. More so when the current GM who has taken a once great farm system down to one of the worst in baseball. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 12:26 PM) I think that would take Florida opening up the talent pool. Then again, how willing is Kenny/JR willing to part with Ozzie?
-
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 11:41 PM) Seriously, this team is drawing me back in again and that scares the s*** out of me because I know it's just going to end in heart break. The W did not hide the typical mental midget breakdown they are known for. Lillibridge proves again he is a dumb base runner. Beckham needs to stop the Adam Dunn impersonations. De Aza is awesome. Will Walker ruin him? Plus he's made Rios play better. Hawk mentioned how the pen had 19Ks, but once again too many metal midgets. We should be more impressed with the Indians than the Sox after this game. You don't see any quit in them and the strength of their team is not on pitching.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 02:58 PM) If they bring back Ozzie and add Zambrano to the mix, I can't even imagine my reaction. I may kill a person. A change of scenery to the Sox = major regression. Even Z would get worse. If such a thing were to happen, I may be all out until a new GM is in place. Odd how the organizations that are consistently good at baseball aren't jumping at this opportunity.
-
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 09:35 PM) strike zone is getting weirder and weirder Good thing since the pen can't seem to find it.

QUOTE (Bighurt52235 @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 04:36 PM) I'm not so certain that the AL Central winner will "get molested" in the playoffs. Baseball is so different than other sports. If you put the 2010-2011 Cavaliers in the NBA Playoffs, I think they go 0-1,000,000. In a million trials. If you put the Orioles in the playoffs this year, I think they can win more than 1% of the time. Any decent team, (Tigers, Sox, Indians) should be able to win 10%, even without taking into account if they're hot heading into October. The Twins have kinda blown that theory. -
QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 01:20 PM) So which team, the recently .500ish Tigers or the recently .450ish Indians is going to go on a .550ish tear to win those 89 or 90 games? I just don't see it. 87 wins at most wins this division. 83 wins is realistic for this division. When I was watching the Tigers play the Indians, the Detroit announcers were talking about how the team isn't even playing .500 in the division. If the Sox don't win this divsion, I'd rather see the Indians do it.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 07:32 PM) I would take the Big Z for the minimum with no leash. He screws up once, he's gone. I do think he will be playing for Ozzie eventually. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/08/unlo..._medium=twitter Lot of former Sox there.
-
QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 14, 2011 -> 01:13 AM) Zambrano and AJ on the same team....hahhaaaa...yeah...that'll work. What's really sad is Zambrano is still a better hitter than Rios and Dunn right now...and Beckham. Cooper has openly opposed Z coming to the Sox. The last thing you want to add to an under achieving team is an under achieving cancer.
-
QUOTE (since56 @ Aug 14, 2011 -> 04:40 PM) Another batter hit and again no retaliation. Pitch inside all you want to the White Sox. Your guys are safe. The Sox never retaliate. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Aug 14, 2011 -> 04:53 PM) You know we get a free baserunner for those, right? Bad ptichers hit batters and there are batters who like to be close to the plate. I doubt any pitcher intentionally hits anyone on the Sox. It's not like this team has creamed any pitcher.
-
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 03:38 AM) I would overpay Mark Buehrle. Me too. He fields his position and holds runners on base. Just because he's a Cards fan has no meaning on the business side of baseball.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 14, 2011 -> 04:13 PM) Take this for what it is worth. Spoke with my guy on 35th today. This is the only scenario he knows that has been discussed. 1.) Guillen/Cooper out (presumably will go to Florida) 2.) Williams moved up or moved out. 3.) Hahn new GM. 4.) La Russa/Duncan hired. La Russa/Duncan hire would mean no rebuild. Guillen and Duncan have to get out of their contracts.

Wow that one at bat really was a gift.

Are the Sox the only team in baseball that can't beat the Royals?

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 09:14 PM) runs, runs, runs, runs, runs runs !! get some ! I don;t know about the team but for yourself a few doses of Exlax would help.
