QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 12:29 PM) I know it's a great gesture and I appreciate it, but I still say that statute sucks. It's like one of those Starting Lineups you didn't want and couldn't wait to trade. It does look bad from the picture. It looks like he's trying to club someone after being stabbed in the chest. Just another example of the Sox buying more bad product.

will the White Sox ever break the 500 mark again?
kitekrazy replied to Soxnews's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Soxnews @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 03:41 PM) In the past few weeks the White Sox have come close to having an over 500 record. After a few wins in a row the team always seems to get back to 500, but then loses one or two putting them a couple games under again. Wil they be able to reach have a winning record after playing the Yankee's? BTW the does anyone know how many games the Tigers and Twins have left against the Yankee? -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 04:52 PM) Really? All of his points save the silly Rick Hahn one (I don't care if my GM is a Satan-worshiping DMB fan if he makes the right moves!), were well-thought and accurate. I'm still so amazed that no one has been fired. Like this one. 8) We're going to regret not trading Quentin, Danks, Floyd, Ramirez and Thornton when we had a chance...the payoff in the offseason won't be as good. We have no idea what was really offered on the other side. Our source is media speculation. So I consider that statement ignorance at the Phil Rogers level.

Yikes! Some over reaction here. Some. But I could see possibilities of Reinsdorf wanting LaRussa and his gang over here as long as one of them isn't Mark McGuire.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 02:28 PM) Kenny got suckered into thinking this team had a chance after winning 2 of 3 against the Tigers. Those two wins were such fool's gold. The sad thing is they should have swept the Tigers.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 04:08 PM) If you don't like my opinion, don't read it. Now if this was WSI, you would have made known to the OP your title and said "You're right. In fact no one os going to read this."

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 03:43 PM) With the Yankees and Twins coming up...feels like it's about time for that mid-summer losing skid. They cant beat Baltimore and KC either. The trade deadline came at a bad time.

QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 03:23 PM) I think some of our pitchers might be able to hit better than our hitters I bet Zambrano can.

Tonight's loss may lead Williams to start trading players

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 09:25 PM) Not happening. Put this in the spam thread, mods... Then lets go find the OP and beat him senseless for doing this. -
Putting the Rios contract disaster into context...

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 10:27 PM) Real, you can potentially make those arguments about Borchard, Fields, Anderson, Morel and Beckham, to name five. But a lot of questioning is going on about the "mental make-up" of both BA and Gordon, that's for sure. Scouts missed out on that critical component. They seem to miss that a lot. That's where your GM takes the blame. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 10:14 PM) Look what has happened with the White Sox, KW and Guillen accepting/empowering/enabling Alex Rios for the past 12 months? There's just no way he can have the respect of any veteran in that clubhouse. Any goodwill or reserve he had left remaining in the tank was eroded tonight. I think enough teams do that when there is a lot of money involved. Just look at the North side. It was last year or the year before they wanted to have Z not show up for the rest of the season. If this were the Yankees or Red Sox, they could eat that kind of money. -

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 09:36 PM) I wish Reinsdorf was the type of owner that would just dump this guy, or authorize picking up 75% of the rest of his contract just to get him out of here. Maybe he is. I guess most teams don't want to touch that other 25%. -

QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 09:28 PM) There isn't a team in the sport that would want Alex Rios. He's garbage. I think the Cubs would be happy to take his contract over Sorianno's. Maybe even Zanbrano. -
Ozzie confirms Rios will be in lineup tomorrow

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 12:56 AM) KW's "Chicago Tough" quote rears its ugly head again. What a joke. Chicago is not exactly an icon for winning sports dynasties. (except the Bulls) Tough means mediocre when it comes to Chicago. That's almost as bad as "Bear Weather". -
Confirmed: White Sox claim on Alex Rios on waivers
kitekrazy replied to prochisox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think it's the normal fan reaction that an outsider is always better than our team. Go to NFL forums, every guy that gets cut from another team there's always a thread about getting them. A GM has to realize when a team who is not very good puts a guy like this on waivers, there's a red flag here. The Sox organization isn't really a good change of scenery for players. After Swisher, players come here only to regress. It's like a curse. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 01:22 AM) Stupid, stupid tweet by Rosenthal. Yeah, everyone in baseball knows about the issues with Peavy and Humber in the 5th/6th innings now. But he had to get something helpful back for Jackson (before the deadline), more than just getting a measly Type B sandwich pick which JUST might impact our team 3-4 years from now, but probably never. You can't fault his aggressiveness here, just getting rid of Teahen alone might have been worth it financially. All the more reason to get another bull pen arm. 6 man rotation has no effect on those two.

QUOTE (Real @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 08:36 PM) he could very well be booed out of the game depending how bad it gets Maybe they could boo him out of batting practice.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 08:14 PM) If they can make better deals now, they should do it. This team isn't going to pass the Tigers. Probably because there isn't any offered.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 08:02 PM) This team has to win Sunday to be .500 on August 1st HORRID............put the kool-aid down. They are only a few games back.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:47 PM) If the Sox are going to go young, Rios can only poison young players. You have to get rid of him even if it means setting the record for most money ever eaten. Oh they can poison veterans too.

When I see guys like Bruney, it reminds me how valuabel guys like Thornton and Crain really are.
-
QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:38 PM) There is ONE RULE about playing baseball...all the way from tee ball to majors...you play it hard. You hustle. you try. You care. If you dont do this, then you have NO BUSINESS playing. That one isn't in the books of the player's union.
-
QUOTE (Real @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 06:39 PM) Good bullpen arms are worthless when your team sucks. We could get some good prospects for Ohman, Thornton, Crain. Someone has to fill in when 2 of your starters have trouble making it past 5 innings. Or you could just forfeit on the basis of "good bullpen arms are worthless" because the team sucks.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 06:41 PM) Would they even have taken him with Granderson in CF at that time, and Ordonez in RF? It was just a theory. I know Curtis was struggling against LHP during that timeframe...but you have to think the main reason is that KW really was overconfident a change of scenery and the Sox coaching staff could "fix" him. Confident? More like foolishness. Maybe Coop can fix him. It seems like a change of scenery=regression for anyone that's not a pitcher.
