  1. No, Development has something to do with that.
  2. Ridiculous. Do you watch the games or just hate on certain players?
  3. See post above. To simplify it the Sox on a whole were groundball machines last season. At the same time Eloy is hitting those groundballs where no one is fielding them. 17 HR is not acceptable for a full-time DH but if he drives in over 100 runs consistently then who cares.
  4. That might have been another reason for hiring Tony in thinking he would bring front office people. An 80+ aged delusional owner doesn't realize most of those people are retired.
  5. They might if Getz and Grifol use the Sox as recruitment.
  6. Those are the dangerous games. You also see teams looking to win a division losing to teams they normally beat.
  7. Your thinking is outdated but hopefully it doesn't get to the point where increased playoff spots means you really have to be bad to miss the offseason. Baseball is following what the NFL did. This has become an interesting month for many teams and their fans. I wouldn't want to change that.
  8. I don't think they are alone in this. They seem to have this same pattern with players. They lack fundamentals in every aspect and with their latest IF pick lacks team speed. I don't think fundamentals can be taught at the minor league level if a player didn't have some grasp of them in the first place. Defense? Who cares compared to hitting the ball over the fence.
  9. If you want to read extreme fantasy bullshit, see Merkin on mlb.com. I guess they are forced to write like that. I believe guys who have to put their work in print can't be as honest as those on the radio. I never believe in using a player's career in determining how they will be as coaches or execs. I think it's a damning thing for great players to be head coaches. It destroys their past among fans. Guys like Big Hurt should avoid this type of career. Sox fans are into the former player syndrome. Do you think someone like AJ would make a difference. I think not. He's too honest and hotheaded. Give him a A team first and then see how it goes.
  10. The Sox will always be first in line for a player where other organizations have that ? of value. Face it the Sox best scouting is often the dumpster dive. Kenny and Hahn seemed to be good at that.
  11. Eloy is now Jaun Pierre without the speed. He should improve his bunting as well. Someone said the Sox should put out an ad seeking the best hitting coach. If they are not you fire them. Hitting coaches are hired to get fired. TLR and Dusty did it a lot. As for Katz you have to try someone else. They should've promoted Coop into development and scouting. The old school guys make not look at the popular spreadsheets but they can still spot delivery and arm angle and say no that's not gonna work.
  12. That's easy, Ownership and front office. Nothing else is close.
  13. the trademark of small market habitually losing organizations - the worst idea if you can't scout and develop The haul is the biggest myth in baseball Opposing GMs (the good ones) know other team's scouting and developing. They don't give up their real top tier prospects and prospect raking is not something to put faith in. Those GMs can make you think you are getting Grey Goose and the taste say Smirnoff.
  14. the guy who had to deal with a Reindorf type ownership
  15. Great way to kill the excitement in a sport where it is declining anyway.
  16. Thomas believes he was brought up too soon. Some scouts didn't like his swing but they drafted him anyway. He wasn't good at baseball and not just for the Sox.
  17. Mets hire David Stearns - yay Sox hire Chris Getz -WTF?
  18. Maybe Katz can make him worse. The coaching staff has more to shoot for. 20+ blown leads, team era about 6, Robert hitting more ground balls, ruining the development of Lee Meanwhile Burger had a nice game today. I didn't realize he has 70 RBIs.
  19. Maybe you missed that every team looking for the final wildcard passed when he was on waivers. Reds and DBacks could've used him for sure,
  20. In better organizations that scenery is called DFA.
  21. Well he hasn't got to Clevinger yet. So epic fail in his coaching.
