QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 10:13 PM) Where would you peg the end of Rose's prime atthough? He led the league in OBP at age 38. He put up a .391 OBP at age 40. Pretty amazing stuff. http://www.fangraphs.com/graphs.aspx?playe...1&type=full If any of the "roids" players make in into the Hall, how unfitting to deny Rose.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 10:03 AM) It's going to be either this or the Swisher trade, but it comes up in every thread around here. It's done with. I hope somehow Zach Stewart becomes awesome just so I don't have to hear the name Dan Hudson ever again. Definitely the Swisher trade. I just think he was demonized by either Ozzie or Kenny, maybe both. The fact Kenny gave up so little points to both. I don't know what it is about this organization and maybe JR needs to shake up this whole organization, but it seems players come here and they regress. Not all of it has to deal with age. Swisher was an example. Adam Dunn has the worst season ever. Even Mark Teahen. Maybe that just as much a reason to fire Ozzie. He might be a more flamboyant version of Dusty. As much of a critc I am of Cooper, he may be the most valuable person in the organization. It's also time for Kenny to stop investing in mental projects. This is the last organization I think any player should go to needing a change of scenery. This is where you go to rot and be less valuable.

QUOTE (since56 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 03:59 PM) Once out, wouldn't getting back in be jumping on the band wagon? So if the Sox make a run this season, no one who is out will get on board? Who cares? They don't give trophies or ticket discounts to "real" fans.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 08:24 PM) I don't think Ozzie, for all of his big talk, has the stones to quit this job. He'll have to be fired, and I bet he'll go out kicking and screaming whenever he is. More brains than stones. Let's see you quit a multimillion dollar contract. He still gets the money if he's fired unless he coaches another team.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 11:35 PM) At least today, we made steps in erasing (partially) the Teahen and Rios mistakes. And it was a guy from the farm system.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 08:34 PM) Aramis Ramirez here would be more of the same that we've done for the last few years. Get a good veteran well past his prime. Pass The hitting on both sides of town mirror each other. They all shut down at once. Wasn't that hitting coach from the Rangers suppose to do wonders? Just think if Fukadome signed with the Sox. He would be another Alex Rios.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:42 PM) Teahen, while paid like a major league player, simply isn't one. At least not recently. If you play him everyday, you're going to get something like a 700-725 OPS (it has been a lot worse with sporadic playing time in Chicago)...but any "plus" his offense might give you is more than undercut by his atrocious defense. And he's never going to hit well enough to justify a corner spot in the outfield or DH. The Blue Jays have used Encarnacion over there for a while, and both Teahen and EE are the bottom of the barrel among starting MLB 3B. If you platoon him or play him more selectively, he could be a somewhat productive player but he's definitely not the player a rebuilding franchise sticks at the position for the next 3-5 years and then looks at other positional weaknesses to cross off the list. Wherever you put Teahen (3B/1B/DH/LF/RF), you're creating a problem rather than solving one. I never understood why Kenny wanted him. When an organization known for losing is willing to trade a player, there something wrong. The reason why they lose is they are bad at assessing talent or have poor minor league instruction. -

Rumor has it the reason why the Sox didn't get Rasmus was the Cards wanted Chris Sale. -
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,4988312.story The odd thing is he believes the North Side 3b is going to come to the South Side. While his own farm system has regressed year after year, Williams has helped the Padres, Blue Jays, Royals and Diamondbacks rebuild. I agree with the first part. But the latter, I have to ask are the Royals ever going to stop rebuilding?

QUOTE (Paulstar @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 04:29 PM) Not saying I am upset at the notion that De Aza is gonna get most of the PT in CF for a while... but why did this team wait so long to make a change? I mean seriously, I don't know if he would have done s***, but couldn't we have made this change like almost 2 months ago? Maybe because baseball is a long season and many players are more streaky than consistent. None of it would matter if they didn't dig such a big hole in the beginning of the season.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 05:59 PM) The thing that depresses me the most...no matter what we do with these deals.... we're stuck with friggin Rios for WAAAAAY too damn long. If there's some decent production from De Aza, it won't bother me at all. -
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:24 AM) Good luck to Jackson, he always seemed like a good guy in the clubhouse and it seemed he knew how to have a good time. If Boras wasnt his agent I think he may have resigned here. Or he may not have been traded so often.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 03:19 PM) I understand the salary differential but at least Soriano can occasionally hit...even hits a few out of the park here and there. Rios is literally as good as an NL pitcher right now. He would make an interesting leadoff hitter. That's where he hit most of his homeruns. All players can occasionally hit until they come to this organization. It would be the sequal to Adam Dunn. Plus Sorianno's D is terrible. -

QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 03:11 PM) Balance out the dollars and see if the change of scenery does anything for either player. A player needing a change of scenery doesn't seem to benefit this organization. -

QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 03:11 PM) If the Mariners hadn't of cut Milton Bradley earlier in the year, that could have been your deal for Rios. It's a player in a situation like Soriano or where Bradley was earlier in the year that I expect a deal to happen for at some point. It's two teams just moving dead weight. Balance out the dollars and see if the change of scenery does anything for either player. Sorianno's contract might be the worst out there. -

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 02:55 PM) Pitching change for the third out. I am always worried we are messing with success in these situations. But, I guess it has been succesful too Herman Franks use to do it all the time when he had Bruce Sutter. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 02:13 PM) By what standard? Minnesota's pen has more losses and a worse ERA, and given up an OPS 0.027 higher. I wonder what their ERA is for the past two days? Is it possible for an ERA to go that high. -

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 01:39 PM) I have a feeling De Aza is here to stay. I say he bats leadoff next year. I have this fear Kenny will trade him for someone like Tori Hunter.
