  1. QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 09:55 PM) I don't know why you make that assumption. Do I know you? It's common theme here.
  2. You wonder if these high pitch outings by Verlander will eventually catch up with him.
  3. Farkin Wilson Betimit. That guy hurts the Sox again. They must have fans doing the pitching for the Twins. 30 runs in 2 days.
  4. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 25, 2011 -> 12:05 AM) Colby Rasmus can, much more easily, be a 4-5 WAR player than can Alex Rios because he has tremendous power and pretty damn good speed. He has his struggles against left handed pitching, but adding more power from the left side of the plate is not a bad thing. I also think if he were to be traded, he would perform better simply by getting out of that clubhouse in St. Louis where he seems to be extremely unhappy. This clubhouse doesn't show any signs of rehabilitating players that are unhappy elsewhere. The Sox are the end of line for mental projects. The Oakland Raider of MLB.
  5. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 10:00 PM) Ok there is no way were going to be able to dump Rios Can we repeat this another 4 billion times so some people get it?
  6. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 09:21 PM) you can't get rasmus cheap. you just can't. he's got elite potential. Yeah to replace the current CF who has the same MO.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 08:00 PM) I also don't think some realize how bad Rasmus has been the last couple of months. People want to send Beckham down to AAA, they'd be saying the same thing about Rasmus. Also, I don't know where people get Rasmus is a good defensive CF. He is not. Potentially he's a great player, but a lot of things have to play out correctly for that to happen. He's supposed to have a meddeling father who works with his hitting on the field and I guess causes trouble on Cardinals' message boards. If the trade happened, Soxtalk probably would gain a new member. I don't get why so many are anxious to trade two pitchers who are making plenty of appearances for a young CF who has lost his starting job? Young guys don't seem to blossom here unless Coop can fix him. I guess Mental Midget Island still has some more openings.
  8. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 11:38 AM) Cowley tweets today that Dunn might be having 'too much fun' outside of the game. Maybe that's why acquiring players from losing organizations is not always a good thing.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 10:18 AM) That other laughing sound is the entire league(save the Yankees) laughing at your idea of just DFA-ing Rios and eating the contract. They are laughing just as hard. More often though the head cases leave their garbage at the door in NY.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 12:30 AM) It's hilarious for "salary relief" we have to trade our second best hitter because of ridiculous contracts to Peavy, Rios and Dunn. LOL. And Kenny has a job? POTW. Unfortunately pro sports with guaranteed contracts are rigged that way.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 23, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) The Astros are asking for multiple impact players in any deal involving Hunter Pence, according to Jon Heyman, Jayson Stark and Buster Olney. Pence earns $6.9MM this year and is due for a raise this offseason, when he could see his salary jump to the $10MM range. He'll earn another raise for the 2013 campaign before hitting free agency that offseason. Here's the latest on Pence, who is one of few impact hitters available: The Phillies are targeting Pence, but the price for him is rather high, writes CSNPhilly.com's Jim Salisbury. Houston would probably want a package that begins with Domonic Brown. The Phillies might also have to include another top talent along with him. If Pence is making $2 million more than CQ this year and will make at least $1.5-2 million more than Quentin in 2012, why shouldn't the White Sox be getting a very good prospect back for him? Maybe not #1-30 or so, but there's absolutely no reason we shouldn't get a consensus Top 30-80 guy or a COUPLE of Top 6-10 prospects from an organization with a lot of minor league depth. Besides Beltran, who's out there? And Beltran's going to cost 2.5X as much in terms of additional payroll added on... Ah, those Astros and their contracts.....
  12. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 01:42 PM) Will White Sox go all in? Acquiring the Cubs' hot Ramirez makes perfect sense for an AL playoff push. http://www.thonline.com/sports/other_sport...63ef7522eb.html He would fit in well with the often "all in" hitting slumps we see under the Walker regime.
  13. QUOTE (SnB @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 11:58 AM) Our payroll is too high for us to see the annual "trade for a washed up veteran who was good 5 years ago". That's never stopped Kenny.
  14. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 01:22 PM) Disagree, this year the hype has escalated waaaay high. I don't hear about him being in trade rumors. That could signal other ML scouts see him as a DH, which is of no value in the NL. He's also a Boras client, the Sox don't like those. So he will eventually play elsewhere (if he lives up to the hype), or the Sox will put a great deal of their finances in a DH. Ugh, how I hate the DH.
  15. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 01:06 PM) FWIW LaRussa is linked with the White Sox next year, if Ozzie goes to Marlins.. as Phil Rogers reports. He's been linked to this organization every time his contract is up.
  16. If they got this guy, Rios will be on waivers if he isn't already. I wonder if they would tell Rios not to show up anymore? With Jake Peavy, that 6 man rotation can change to 5 over night. I don't think the Cardinals want to take on a lot more payroll. Isn't Pujols' contract up soon? Outside of a pitcher, I can't see any other outside players with a lot of potential ever reaching their in this organization.
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 11:26 AM) Maybe a fresh start is what Rasmus needs. This is the last organization for that unless it's a pitcher. We carry mental midgets by the bulk.
  18. QUOTE (Paulstar @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 10:05 PM) Anyone else think that whats holding back this team from making any changes is a power struggle between KW and Oz? No. They probably let the media create that belief. In show business there is no such thing a bad press.
  19. We all know what the problems are. They need to fix those which they wont let us down by creating new ones. Our next rant will be when Viciedo arrives and isn't hitting like he was in AAA, "We should have brought him up while he was hot." Even if he does well, one Viciedo isn't enough. Plus this team is lifeless. Forums often match the team's performance. It's just as bad at the other site. I was reading their Viciedo Ready debate and they've abandoned that.
  20. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 12:01 AM) Good lord, at this point if there wasn't a rift between pitchers/position players these guys would have to be mannequins... If the defense was bad I think that would push them over.
  21. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,3714301.story This is what Detroit is doing with Inge. It would be nice if Adam followed suit. If he didn't suck this bad I doubt he would talk about quitting. IF Vic is going to play outfield, you still need a DH.
  22. I would trust this farm system with prospects.
