QUOTE (chisoxt @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 10:18 PM) True, but you give Williams a place to 'hold over' until he finds another gig. And as long as there are stupid owners (See the New York Mets), there will be somebody out there will be dumb enough to hire Williams as a GM. Make it so Al Davis. -

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 06:39 PM) 3B could be the achilles heal now. Good fielder in Morel but not much of a bat This is like the 3rd year in a row. Where's Jaun Uribe when you need him. A least he could make the games not so boring. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 06:38 PM) Not having Viciedo up this series is just an epic fail by our management. I can't take anymore of morel at the plate Not being able to beat the Royals without Vic is an epic fail. -

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 03:00 PM) 99 degrees in K.C tonight. Temperature on the field will be 178 degrees. That's just a typical July day in Arizona. You have to wait til about 2 a.m. to get to the 98 part. -
QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 12:47 PM) Just never heard a GM defer a decision so often to the manager. That could also be the Charlotte manager. Remember he is learning to play LF.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 06:19 PM) Wow, this ump has no idea where the strikezone is. Isn't it like that this whole series? -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 02:34 PM) Omar is really old. This could be dangerous conditions for him. Yeah but he's probably healthier than half of the guys in the league. I'm a few years older than he and I feel shame. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 10:33 PM) And Rios stupefied everyone by collecting 2 hits in one game even. Are you sure it was Rios or an imposter?
-
QUOTE (OilCan @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 09:27 PM) Viciedo is starting to cool off in July, hitting .227. At least he gunned down a runner at home tonight. With the Sox luck, this guy will go into a slump when called up or he'll be "Walkerized".

Still can't beat the f***in Royals. Unf***inbelievable!

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 12:17 PM) Says who? Do we know that Marlins fans even want Ozzie? Is there even a Marlins fanbase? And not the entire Sox fanbase wants Ozzie gone anyway Baseball is only popular in the Winter months in Florida anyway. I wonder if professional sports draw well in that state. My dad use to go down there after Christmas. Back when the Dolphins were good in the Marino era my dad walked up to the ticket window to buy playoff tickets on game day.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 11:31 AM) I don't think Pierre is supposed to play today. Bet it's Lillibridge. Scary enough? I'd love to read a scouting report teams give their "just up from the minors pitchers" when they have to face the Sox.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 11:34 AM) I agree with McKeon, even if he's tampering. Ozzie in Miami would make two fanbases very happy, so somebody needs to get it done. It's not tampering. People take words to the extreme. People in professional sports usually don't speak negative things of their counterparts. Did anyone expect McKeon to say, "Hell no! I've seen what he's done in Chicago. When I meant a good fit it had nothing to do with baseball. I was referring to the ethnic makeup of the state".

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 01:40 AM) I wonder if Dunn can even hit minor league pitching at this point. He's that bad. I'm still waiting for the rest of the lineup to hit minor league pitching. Or where all those Ks last night just my imagination?
-
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 11:04 AM) Dunn is going nowhere lower than 4th in the lineup. I tend to lean towards being an Ozzie apologist but this is where you can draw the line for "stupid enough to be fired". If you are keeping Dunn in for his pyche, at least bat him further down the order.

Guillen/KW at least "PR spinning" they want Buehrle back nex

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 11:51 AM) The 2008 season disagrees about D1 at least. Hence the word season and least. I'm not sold on giving Danks a major payday. Let someone else do it. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 11:30 AM) M-56 gets asked usually at least a couple times a year if he'd like to pitch for the Cardinals and he always says yes since he was a fan of theirs, but there's never been any "The Cardinals are negotiating with Mark Buehrle" or "The Sox and Cards are talking about Buehrle" rumors. That's why I wish fans would drop that notion. Behind every player is an agent. I can't see an agent saying, "hey, since you are a fan, why not give them a big discount". -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 12:23 AM) Do you gamble and try to get Jackson back instead (of Buehrle)? Can we keep Buehrle AND Danks in the same rotation in 2012? Both are mental midgets compared to MB. -

BTW, are we over speculating the possibility of MB pitching for the Cards because he is a fan? The only time I ever here this is only around Sox fans. I haven't seen any other publications supporting this. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 09:54 PM) You could see Matt had that look like "you've got to be kidding me, right?" when he was pulled. I think there's more value there for Thornton to get out the side 1-2-3 and keep rebuilding his confidence. Then again Thornton's a veteran the other guy not so much.

QUOTE (Anderson Cooper's Quivering @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 11:04 AM) The Sox picked up his option for 2012. The option would have vested if the Sox won the division this season which is highly unlikely. If they hadn't picked up the option, he could have walked away. If the Sox don't want Ozzie to stay, they sure as hell aren't acting like it. Then again if they fire him they only have to pay for one year providing he doesn't manage for another team.
-
QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 10:03 AM) From here, it looks as if it is very important to Ozzie that he get paid for 2012 from Sox even if he manages Marlins. I'm can't see an pro sports organization setting up a contract where you are still paying a manager who is working for another team.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 09:48 PM) Pirates have been rumored to be after Francoeur and Betemit. Unless we give them Quentin, I don't see there being a match. What would they have for the Sox to pull the trigger on this?
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 09:31 PM) Steve Stone just said that the Pirates have a couple of scouts at the game tonight, that they are going to be buyers at the deadline, and that they are looking for a hitter. Let the speculation, begin! When he said looking for a hitter that immediately rules out the Sox.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 09:47 PM) Must win game here. Got a huge gift, and capitalized. Pierre's really been a catalyst of late. Definitely. I have no idea or trust what we are going to get from Peavy other than talk or excuses.
