  1. QUOTE (kapzk @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 09:31 PM) Can't see a big pay day for Danks especially after a bad season thus far. Maybe down the road yeah but no way is he getting a 15 million dollar deal after this year's performance, which is why he would probably wait out after next and just a sign a one yr arbritration contract. I can't really think of any other players that have similar cases to Danks to really say wat type of contract can be expected. I still think he's a mental midget. He'll get over paid just like any other above average pitcher on the market.
  2. Were some of you deep inside wishful thinking that pitch would hit Pierre and go on the DL so we could what Vic. could do?
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 09:06 PM) 7 in a row retired.....13 consecutive starts where Buehrle hasn't given up more than 3 runs (at most). Amazingly consistent at this stage in his career. I'd almost rather go 2 seasons at $14-15 million (with Mark) than Danks for five years at the same money. Those huge, long-term pitching contracts are just so risky. There's a lot of intangibles that makes Mark valuable.
  4. At times it's hard to believe the weakest teams today like the Royals were once power houses in baseball.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 08:49 PM) How do you get thrown out SO BADLY on a hanging curveball??? Yikes. Even PK could have made that look closer. I wonder if JP is unknowingly tipping off other teams when he's going to run.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 08:44 PM) Very fortunate there...hard to score AJ on any ball hit on the infield. Pull and don't lift swing there. That looked like one of those RBIs the Twin use to score against the Sox in the Twinkie Dome days. I think they should have left that Davies guy in.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 08:19 PM) I'm really to the point where I just want to move Pierre to CF and stick Viciedo in the line-up. That's a scary bad defense, but having 2 huge holes in our line-up, well 3 if you include the 3B position, it's just not going to work. I'm not sure the offense would be good enough to compensate for that.
  8. QUOTE (The Baconator @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 07:50 PM) I actually get this game on the Royals broadcast! Too bad their announcers are a freaking bore; it sounds like their calling a round of golf. There's not much you can do with Royal's baseball. It's gotta be similar to having one of those jobs licking stamps for bulk mail.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 02:11 PM) I understand. But with Pierre hitting .270 and going nowhere, I'd just stick Viciedo at third right now. Of course if he commits 2 errors a game that would offset anything he'd do with the bat. We're f***ed unless they trade Juan. Right...let's put a guy who is basically a DH at 3rd.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 07:45 PM) That doll looks either like Brian Anderson or William Katt, The Greatest American Hero. Definitely not Dunn. More like David Letterman.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 06:33 PM) Cmon Rios, how about doing something Retire would be good.
  12. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 06:22 PM) yeah, i couldn't open it on firefox but could on safari. weird. Firefox is starting to suck. I may try Chrome eventually.
  13. Went the MLB Game Dat and it is stuck loading.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 05:30 PM) BTW, Indians already beating up on the Orioles, 3-0. Who'd have thought Asdrubal Cabrera would be on a pace for 25-28 homers? I'm also guessing the Twins roll right through the Royals. It will be interesting to see what moves they can make. They can still win it.
  15. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 04:57 PM) I'm not sure if KW has the patience for a legitimate rebuilding. Hard to really say how he'd do, because he's never done more than a retooling. Regardless, if we are going to go through a 4 - 6 year rebuilding process, then we definitely need new blood throughout the organization. That includes a new GM and manager. He's been pretty bad at that as well.
  16. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 04:50 PM) <!--quoteo(post=2432494:date=Jul 14, 2011 -> 05:33 PM:name=kitekrazy)-->QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 05:33 PM) <!--quotec-->I'm starting to believe Viciedo is being shopped around. He's a Boras client. Then shop him a year or two before he reaches free agency if Boras is still his agent and he won't sign a long-term deal. There is absolutely no reason to shop him right now. He's going to make between $1 - 2 million a year in each of the next three seasons and most likely being extremely productive. I don't know what you think you'll get for him that will be of equal or greater value. Prospects like Viciedo just don't get moved very often anymore, because they are just too damn valuable. He could be just as valuable right now in the minors.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 08:22 AM) If someone would take on the contracts of Dunn and Rios, regardless of whether the Sox have immediate replacements for them, the Sox should do that solely to rid themselves of the contracts, because in the event of a total rebuild, that money will be extremely useful. Hopefully there's another KW out there. I would at least wait til 2012 on Dunn.
  18. Hopefully Al Davis will give Kenny a call and we can see what Hahn can do.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 02:48 PM) And Daniels isn't going to watch another "young John Danks" traded to the White Sox again. He'll be much more careful about any young pitching they would part with in a possible trade. Note to Kenny.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 08:00 AM) Clearing $18 million of the money remaining on Rios's deal would be a much bigger priority to me than Morel playing every day in the bigs. That task has to be close to impossible.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 04:42 PM) Remember, this is the GM who somehow pulled a rabbit out of his hat and turned that 2007 team into the 2008 division champions. Great. So far it looks like the 2011 team can turn into the 2007 team. If that's any reason to continue with Kenny it's beyond weak.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 02:23 PM) Detroit has been the biggest choke artist in baseball the last 5 years or so. Good point.
  23. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 12:05 PM) Define hard sell. If you're proposing a full rebuild, then I think that's a huge mistake. I'm down for a couple moves, such as trading Jackson and Quentin, but I don't think we're that far off from competing next year. I think anything beyond a few tweaks is a huge mistake. What team should we be scared of in 2012? Not saying we'll be the favorite, but I don't see any team in the division who's going to be dominant. I still think you try to make one more run at it in 2012 before you even consider rebuilding. They can't rebuild with the current GM and probably others in this organization.
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 01:40 PM) Making no changes at all is KW's last attempt at making himself look good. I'd almost prefer that. With have two starters injured, trading Jackson may not be a good idea. Hopefully a NL team in a race that has an overstock of prospects at a certain position could use Juan Pierre. I'm starting to believe Viciedo is being shopped around. He's a Boras client.
  25. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 01:19 PM) Whether we're in it or not, we're a stronger team with Viciedo in the starting lineup everyday. Between LF, RF, and DH, he should be able to start 5 - 6 games a week. There is no logical reason whatsoever to not bring him up now that it won't cost us a service year. I read somewhere were someone asked what Vic could do to get better and the reply was dump Boras as his agent. So on that I could see that if some organization offered a too good of a deal to be true for him Kenny pulls the trigger.
