  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 09:37 PM) So what? Is Josh supposed to send him a check every month? Put him through college? Land him a job in baseball? He tossed the damn ball into the stands. This occurs quite frequently. Happened to be a guy went for the ball without any regards to his personal safety and a tragedy occurred. Hey, I feel really bad for the kid. Don't get it twisted. But Q suggested that Josh is forever in debt to this kid because his father died. And anything less than that and he'll hate him? Are you serious? You don't see anything wrong with that? Personal accountability doesn't exist in America.
  2. QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 10:40 PM) I agree with firing Walker. Some move should be made. I don't think Walker's really to blame, and hitting coaches aren't extremely valuable, but something needs to be done. The reason I think they keep him is because of Konerko.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 08:58 PM) Getz right now is as good a hitter as Beckham which is scary. It's not as bad as watching Wilson Betamit hurt the Sox.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 08:58 PM) If you guys don't think Ozzie was a good player, bless you. or they could get a clue..... It gets annoying when bitterness over individual performances extend to attacking other aspects of an individual This gets worse than hyperbole. There are other places on the web where it goes beyond attacking a person's performance to the point where people want the player's daughter's 5 week old kitten to die a tragic death. We are not there yet but getting close. Outside of Alex Rios I'd bet most of the players do not like how it is turning out. Maybe Rios vents his frustration the wrong way.
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 05:51 PM) It could be worse. Just look 8 miles north. But I agree, changes must be made. Who would want to mange that team? They lead the league in all sports for all ages in immaturity.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 02:25 AM) I don't bring up Rowand more often because of the eruption it causes. But it's obvious we have never replaced him and it was very bad for the team to lose him. That's because a lot of people interpret as we still need Aaron Rowand. That was a good trade. Then again you trade an everyday player for a DH. Something better may have come along. Funny how show much money is spent on a limited position called DH. What bothers me is the replacement players from the farm show signs of being able to play everyday and then regress so bad that they are out of baseball. BA didn't pan out and Owens wasn't any good either. The Sox have thrown around some bad money to even make governments envy.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 04:39 PM) And yet teams are still taking chances on him because he has stuff. Let's hope so. I get tired of the Sox being the end of the line.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 10:36 AM) He said in the Trib today that The Twins are always built to win the AL Central and not the World Series, while the Sox are always built to win the World Series and not the AL Central. Twin fans agree on this.
  9. I'm more upset at losing 2/3 to the Royals. I get it that the Twins own the Sox but farkin KC? C'mon.
  10. Maybe a multi player trade involving Quentin and Danks?
  11. QUOTE (zygoat @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 12:01 AM) I didn't understand today why Ozzie would have Alexi bunt over Pierre so they could walk Paulie to get to Dunn. I understand that there were no outs (one out after the bunt) but to take the bats out of the two best hitters in your lineup to face Dunn seemed crazy to me (Thank god for TCQ base knock- he was pumped after that). I know that it was probably the right play with another lineup but it really bothered me today with the situation at hand. Also, why didn't they bunt AJ over after the leadoff double so Teahen could possibly hit a sac fly to win the game? They did it earlier with our best hitters so why not when the situation called again for it? I'm not manager but I would have reversed the calls if I saw both situations. Please don't be offensive in your posts. Thoughts? Trying to get a rise out of the fire Ozzie crew? I still don't get why Dunn isn't batting 8th. Maybe it's management trying to show some confidence in a player. I don't think Adam Dunn likes his season so far. I imagine he and the staff are trying anything and everything to get him out of this slump. He's a money guy and you have to keep playing him. People forget the Paul Konerko of 2003 and 2008. Maybe they didn't want Gordon to bunt because he was 1 for 3. It could be the Twins were expecting it. Maybe it would have to be a real good bunt to move A.J. to third. If the right thing was done and wasn't executed Ozzie still takes the blame.
  12. Looks like the comments to the article speak this is a non story. Some of them are funny. D@mn I need some straight news... Has Roethlisberger sexually assaulted in hotties lately?
  13. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 06:43 PM) No, no its not. Agreed.
  14. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 05:05 PM) Pretty funny I thought. He just needs to write it smaller next time.
  15. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 11:36 PM) In regard to the original post can someone tell me what did Gammons say? Ozzie was going to be fired.
  16. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 04:14 PM) Just put Viceido in as manager and then he can make de focking lineups. How about making Walker the manager and they would have to get a new hitting coach.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 04:11 PM) We all heard about what Gammons said today about Oz being fired during the break. Here are 2 tweets from Cowley just now: It's not news that everytime LaRussa's contract was up Reinsdorf was always reaching out to LaRussa.
  18. 2010 could've won with Thome 2011 could've won without Ozzie Those are the themes of Sox Talk which we can't seem to move from. At some point you have to yawn. I got a good laugh at this. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,6680701.story "E-mailer Jack Lucas makes some interesting connections in a note he sent after I took a look back at the White Sox’s waiver claim of Alex Rios. He traces the current problems to Nov. 25, 2005, when Ken Williams traded Aaron Rowand to Philadelphia for Jim Thome. He says, “Rios is the by-product of the terrible (Nick) Swisher trade, when Kenny reached to try and fill the then Sox gaping hole in CF. Ironically, Swisher's failure ultimately led to the (Adam) Dunn signing -- as Swisher could have provided the left handed middle of the lineup bat that the Sox so desperately needed. So the snowball started with the exit of Aaron Rowand has turned into an avalanche.’’
  19. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 08:40 PM) If he trades Viciedo this year, there will be a f***ing riot. That would depend on what you got for him.
  20. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 06:43 PM) I really want to see what this team can do with a different vibe in the clubhouse and in the dugout. I'm not sure which I'd prefer more...a numbers guy or a hard ass. A hard ass is nothing but a noise maker in a sport of guaranteed contracts.
  21. Looking at the stats, the Twins pen sure looks awful.
  22. Wow! Thome doing an Adam Dunn impersonation.
  23. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 05:25 PM) Don't agree with that Same here.
