Official greg don't jump off a ledge until Sunday thread
kitekrazy replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 03:20 PM) I'll leave the ledge when we show some spark against KC, Detroit, Minnie. Somehow we beat Cleveland once in a while. That's only if there are fireworks at the Cell after the game. -

QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 11:52 PM) Lonnie Chisenhall is their 3B of the future. He's legit, too. I'm more than sold on their offense. Even before the season started, I liked their offense. I'm less sold on their pitching, however, and that hasn't changed. The Sox need to hire some of their scouts. They also seem to bring up some decent hitters. -
Is there any way to dump Dunn and get Pujols?
kitekrazy replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 03:57 PM) No, but honestly, I think Dunn can bounce back. Just not in this atmosphere, with this coaching staff. I've given up all hope on them. Sadly, I've given up all hope that management will can all of them because they haven't done so yet. Especially Walker. We've seen this poo for the past 5 years, nothing has changed except for the players, but it still is not his fault. The 2012 Adam Dunn will most likely be better. PK has tanked twice in his career. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 03:19 PM) Discuss. Only in fantasy baseball full of crackheads and drunks. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 09:04 AM) AJ does not seem like the type to train his replacement. Not to me anyway. That's why teams have farm systems.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 03:49 PM) I'm in complete agreement. It's been a chore watching/following the games this season. Even when we win it's barely satisfying. I'm just seeing history repeat itself. Another paper tiger tracing back to the beginning of this century. If I'm Ozzie, I would want to go to Florida. There's really no future upside to the Sox.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 03:40 PM) I've said this before, but Cooper wants the managerial job from what he's said on the radio. Which is really sad. Cooper isn't mentally tough enough to be a manager. He could be the next Dave Wannstedt. A guy who might have been better off as an assistant.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 11:12 PM) From listening to the Indians/Yankees game tonight, there's something about that team that's starting to make me think they can win the division. I wonder what they got in their farm system they could trade to help get them some decent pitching. -

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 10:43 PM) Part of me wants them to lose all 4 if they're going to lose 3 of them, because it would force some serious re-evaluation over the all-star break. If we win 2 games we're still in this thing. Any less, we are on the ropes, if not done. I still think the talent on this team is better than any in the AL central. Today's loss was absolutely unacceptable. All I can think of is "losing.....is a disease...." I think the Sox won their only game this whole week. The Sox are the Twin's b****. I have no problem with that. It's not beating the Royals and teams like them that's unacceptable. -
QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 08:31 PM) I feel kinda bad for Pierre to be totally honest. I feel more confident with him at the plate than I do half our lineup (Morel, Dunn, Beckham, Rios). I agree our team would be better if he was replaced with Viciedo, but he's hardly been the only problem. So, yes...replacing Pierre with Viciedo will help. But it's not going to make Beckham hit like he can/should, it's not going to make Rios live up to his potential, it's not going to get Dunn back to his old self, and it's not going to make Morel live up to his marginal upside. What's really sad is fans believe the biggest hope is playing in the minors right now. Imagine what it will be like for him to get called up in a race and tries to over do everything and doesn't get the same results. Let's not forget he just starting to play the outfield and I guess he's using to playing in a smaller outfield.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 12:57 PM) Pretty funny listening to Boers and Bernstein rip on Peavy today relating to his request for more intensity. They were the same two guys last season saying Adam Dunn is a necessity for this team.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 07:13 PM) 182 bucks for one run and boring slow pitching by Edwin. I don't see how the team can tolerate being on the filed with Jackson on the mound. I don't know if it has any effect but I almost fell asleep watching him pitch against the DBs sitting in one of those uncomfortable seats.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 11:37 AM) I had a dream last night that the Sox finished the season with 103 wins. It was pretty vivid and, in the dream, they were this same exact team and went on an unbelievable run. So, maybe I have some supernatural powers? We'll see. or people want to get in touch with your crack dealer That would scare me if they got over 95 wins. Would they have anything left in the tank for the post season?

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 09:46 AM) My point exaclty, the next 5 games will say a lot about this White Sox team IMHO. I still think the Twins will win this division because it's the only thing they know how to do. They will be all spent and torture their fans with a quick playoff exit. It's hard for me to ignore Sox history. If it wasn't for an umpire call this team would be 0-2 against KC. I hate to be a dark cloud but this series has not showed me anything to be otherwise.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 04:02 PM) I accidently had Rosenbloom on this morning on my way to the gym and he was ripping Peavy for this. Saying he isn't around enough to be talking like this and other garbage. I got a different impression. To me it stated show it on the mound and not your mouth.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 12:57 AM) Think about 2012. Without CQ, MB, EJ, and JP, there's like $40m off the books. Jerry won't put us at $127m again, but he'll sure as hell put us at $100m. Now imagine the above scenario with $15m or so for KW to spend on FA. I think you have to keep the payroll around $120M if you want to be competitive and your farm system sucks.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 08:35 AM) I don't think it is something that simple. Carlos doesn't make any sense to deal if you believe you are in a pennant race unless there is something really wrong. Dealing your second best hitter, especially for a pitcher, when your offense has been awful? It doesn't pass the smell test. If Kenny really wanted to open a spot for Dayan, he would find someone to dump Pierre on, and pick up most of his salary the rest of this year. If he is looking to deal Q it means he is looking for an insane amount of money on an extension, having issues in the clubhouse, really worried about an injury problem, or something worse that none of us have heard about (and in this day and age, speculation would always begin there with juicing or worse). He might think Quentin has reached peak value. I know fans are high on Viciedo but there are fans who have watched his defense and it's not great. You have the potential to make the OF even worse.

Was it the Cubs who went through a lot of hitting coaches this century? I've seen similarities between both Chicago teams. I guess it has to do with having a lot of swing for the fence guys.

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 11:50 AM) I don't know if there's a more underrated Williams acquisition than Pierzynski, for how crucial it has been in so many respects. I think getting players from winning or competitive organizations has a lot to do with it than getting players from habitually losing teams.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 02:24 AM) How that Sox cannot make changes to this lineup is beyond me. Viciedo and DeAza are right there. The only logic I can see is that they are in a race is you need veteran presence. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 11:20 AM) DJ's getting on him all the time about not even moving a step when a pickoff play's coming at 2B or when Edwin is on the mound taking forever and he's just disinterestedly almost not even paying attention to what's going on. Even I lose interest when Edwin is on the mound. -

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 10:34 AM) I was shot down everytime I mentioned it. I just wanted out of that contract so bad, and although I didn't think he would be this bad I figured on a .700 - .750 OPS, and for what we are paying him that is unacceptable. The only problem to that was finding a replacement. -
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 10:55 PM) Who knows, maybe this will be the first sox team in a long time that's a 2nd half team. I hope so. I hate to see good pitching go to waste I think this is the week to find out if the Sox are going to repeat the "same ol", "same ol" lying down to divisional teams especially the Royals and Twins.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 01:33 AM) Yeah, exactly. I see NO reason why either of them should keep their job. I can't even pick one. I'm more concerned with getting Ozzie out of here because it feels like he has more power than KW and he's one of the worst game managers in the sport, but I think KW being gone would do more since he's doing a crappy job finding/evaluating talent, and I am confident his replacement (Hahn) would be a major improvement. Part of me thinks Ozzie wants to go to the Marlins but he and Reinsdorf have a loyalty to each other. Ozzie is more of a NL type manager. The rest of the baseball world doesn't see as an inept manager like the fans do. I've liked Kenny's aggressiveness in getting someone like Jake Peavy. That story hasn't ended yet on whether it was worth it. His moves in the past few years just don't make sense. He's done a poor job handling the minors. The only way to fix that is with more spending. I don't like it when he acquire players from losing organizations. I think there is something there mentally.
