Would it be premature to say this is the 3rd win in a row.

QUOTE (Knackattack @ May 9, 2011 -> 11:00 PM) What are we gonna do about the rotation if Peavy is good? I think they have held up their end. Still have to worry about the pen, defense, inconsistent hitting.

QUOTE (Chisoxrd5 @ May 7, 2011 -> 10:07 AM) We'll win games based on talent alone later on in the year. When it warms up and we are 15-20 games back Dunn, PK, and Q will mash us to victories. The SP is solid enough as well to get us some wins. I think we'll end up with 75-78 wins. My hope is if this road trip goes 2-7 or worse we have to be realistic and start planning for the future. If we're 14 or 15 games out, and in last place, there is no coming back from that. I'm interested to see what Kenny does with a bottom three farm system, and bad money invested next season in Rios, Peavy, AJ, Ohman and Dunn. We're looking at a few probable dark years till things turn around. That's very optimistic. When it warms up it does it for the other teams as well. I think we've seen enough of what Kenny has done with a farm system. While this may not be his fault but scouting and drafting needs to improve. How are the coaches at the developing levels. I get the impression the organization believes they can fix major deficits like playing defense and knowing the fundamentals when in most cases if those things aren't already there they will never happen. To me it's like those NFL GMs who get suckered by a players skills at the Combine and forget there is a difference between athletes and football players. This team is stuck with guys like Rios and AJ because the farm doesn't give the team an option. Filling CF has become real expensive since 2005. There is still that hole at 3rd. Some would argue that forced Beckham into the majors too soon. An old man had to replace Teahan last year. Everyone shakes their head at that contract. This organization needs a complete overhaul and Kenny is not one I would trust to do that.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 7, 2011 -> 11:05 AM) Would you rather: 1.) Be in last place in all of baseball but already have one year of rebuilding in the books 2.) Be in last place in all of baseball and have to start rebuilding right now I'm taking #1 every single time. People will mention that last year's team came back, but they always omit that they still lost. And of course someone will bring up hindsight being 20/20 even though many, many of us have been calling for a rebuild for years. It looks like this organization is really bad at rebuilding as well. If that keeps up they will be forced to hold on to aging players and bad contracts. This season is bad but does the outlook look worse within 5 years? There's been a debate that Beckham's problems stem from not spending enough time in the minors.

Robin and Frank could either be a good hitting coach

QUOTE (forrestg @ May 7, 2011 -> 11:05 AM) i really miss having someone in the line up besides konerko and Quentin that might actually might get a clutch hit. maybe we could bring back Crede too. Some forgot how great he was before the steroid era. He was a tough out. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2011 -> 07:18 AM) I really think Ozzie wouldn't mind being fired. I've really never thought that before, but he seems almost resigned to the White Sox fate. Where is his annual speech about how he's was close to walking away. He doesn't want to quit because he wouldn't get the cash. I would probably get tired of managing and over paid under achieving team after awhile along with a farm system that has a bleak future. I think he would be a better manager in the NL. If he gets fired, it won't take long for him to be managing again. Since the turn of the century this team has had two managers but the constant has been under achievement.

With Frank as hitting coach, the temptation might be to activate him since most of guys on this team can't hit. -

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 5, 2011 -> 12:43 AM) Manny Acta is really sharp. I'd say that he's probably one of the top-5 strategists in the game right now. His problem is just that he's been burdened with an overabundance of crappy players for the bulk of his managing career. I'd kill to have a guy with his mind for the game as the coach of the Sox. He would be burdened with crappy players again, just more expensive. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 4, 2011 -> 09:40 AM) Mostly because I haven't seen him do any sort of managerial stuff, but I really fear that Cooper would be a terrible manager. He hasn't shown much of late as being a decent pitching coach either. He has the "coaches against the fans" mentality. After listening to him on the score defending the team, he mentally weak. -
QUOTE (fathom @ May 3, 2011 -> 09:55 PM) Good question, but with each passing year, it makes me appreciate 2005 even more. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, went right for us and we capitalized on those breaks. It was definitely a fluke, but not in a bad way. We deserved the World Series that year as much as any team has in a long time. In modern day sports you can pretty make the case that any team that wins a championship is a fluke. Dynasties do not exist anymore. The 2005 Sox had the best record in baseball heading into the post season and proved they were the best team. Did anyone predict a Ranger-Giants WS? It's been awhile that the NFL team with the best record has won a Super Bowl.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ May 2, 2011 -> 11:27 PM) This whole organization is full of losers, chokers, and softies, and being that AJ is not one of them, it certainly makes sense that he'd have some enemies right now. There is zero reason for a team with this much talent to pack in it, night after night, series after series. This is the same s*** they did this time last year, only Kenny and Ozzie could be blamed for it that time. Now, there's no one to blame but the sorry ass players themselves. It's not September yet, boys, and these aren't the Twins. You don't have to tuck tail yet! Maybe Kenny needs to send off everyone who has a problem with AJ and fire Ozzie's ass too. Change the culture and just start this whole damn thing over. Please, Mark Buehrle, go somewhere else and win. You too AJ, and same with Paulie. John Danks - what a great call on not signing that extension! Money aside, why would anyone with your abilities want to play here? Go make some cash and win some games elsewhere. This team is 100% capable of not only righting this ship but trouncing those pretenders atop the division, winning the division, making the playoffs, and winning a WS. The talent is definitely there. But this AJ hating s*** is exactly why they'll do nothing but founder once again when the going really gets tough. This is a rant, but I mean Jesus, it's like half the noteworthy and conversation inducing team related events occur over Twitter posts by a Guillen family member. That's what we get as Sox fans instead of a baseball season, Guillen family Twitter drama. And choking. And now hating on AJ?! Really?! If you're a player and AJ's behavior is pissing you off then how about you take out yout tampon and let your balls drop and take it out on the field of play instead of confiding in some dbag Score host. Ugh. I'm done now. This is an awesome post.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ May 3, 2011 -> 10:10 PM) How about we just pave the field and roll out the monster trucks? Forget this baseball stuff entirely. That was so hilarious. What we have witnessed, do we dare call it baseball?

QUOTE (zenryan @ May 3, 2011 -> 10:10 PM) I really dont care anymore about baseball or this team. Baseball is now where the NBA stands, I'll watch the playoffs or if I'm betting a particular game. It isnt worth my time or energy to care for such a crap product. This team sucks so what is to gain by following the PBP or watching the games I do get on WGN? I'm really lost as a fan now. There was a time when the Sox were by far my favorite team even though football is my favorite sport to watch. I would run my cell battery dead watching the PBP every night, even if we were way out of it in August/September in the early 2000s. Now I dont even bother to follow it on my cell. Tonight I turned on espn.com from my cell in the 8th inning and I laughed. I kinda was rooting for the no-hitter because I thought it would be more entertaining to read this site after that then if the Sox were able to come back to beat the Twins. I even tried watching a Rays game in hopes that would energize my interest in baseball. I was thinking that they are somewhat local( only 75 minutes from me) and they are on tv every night now that FSN has expanded its Florida market (up until about 4 years ago, the Rays were shown about 1-2x a week in Orlando) but I was still bored. I know I'll still look at the standings and highlights and I will def. watch the playoffs but I think I need a break from baseball. It is sad I'm saying this because it's only May and we're still 3+ months away from football. It's going to be a long summer... I moved out to AZ in the Summer and I don;'t have the interest in sports like I use to. I'm a Colts fan and that team was so bad I didn't even watch them on TV. So my hopes lied in the Sox and Blackhawks. The Blackhawks put on a tease. So I don't get to watch them on Nat'l TV. Now the Sox are a disappointment. There's no way in hell I could sit through a Phoenix Cardinal game. I've turned on a Diamondback's game only to watch an inning or two. It really wouldn't bother me if the NFL is put on hold next season.

I feel lucky. I'm out of the viewing area so I don't get a chance to see how bad they really are.

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ May 3, 2011 -> 09:43 PM) not really, what do u expect, when your team signs crap fa's and spends no money. the sox actually spent money and have good players but..its not happening Of course the one's they keep that aren't any good, Kenny tries to trade for 'em.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 3, 2011 -> 09:28 PM) In the grand scheme of things, it's hard to imagine how KW will keep his job. It's his 128 million dollar team that is underachieving, and he's put the organization into a situation where competing the next few years seems a longshot. He would be the first on my list, then coaches and scouts. Even if they fire Walker, you will only see a temporary change. This team just seems to have guys who can't or wont make adjustments at the plate.

QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ May 3, 2011 -> 08:08 PM) The Sox are one sorry ass baseball team. Once the Bulls get swept by Atlanta it's going to be a long dreadful summer sports wise in Chicago. I'm still pissed at the Blackhawks. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 3, 2011 -> 08:04 PM) Where is Kenny going to go? All he can do is accept the power that he is given, or go somewhere else where he most likely wont be a GM. Id keep the job and do my best given my limitations. Id try and convince them my way is right, and I cant believe that at this point I couldnt convince an owner to do something. I'm sure he can weaken another farm system. -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 3, 2011 -> 07:08 PM) I was under the impression that Liriano was having a bad season so far. Well they are playing the Sox. Teams and players probably look forward to the Sox for getting out of their slumps. -

QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 09:10 PM) I am almost certain that there would be PLENTY of posters on this site who would be very happy if this team was losing 95 games a season as long as they had some hott spects to drool over.. at least that how it seems Do they really gain anything with top prospects that will be exposed to a poor farm system? -
White Sox season is over He wants a fire sale.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 1, 2011 -> 04:17 PM) One of these teams is going to start fattening up on the rest of the division. It wont be the Sox. They seem to fail at this in the 2nd half.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ May 1, 2011 -> 07:14 AM) I know I am one of Kenny's biggest fans, so maybe I am biased in regards to that, but I have a really hard time finding much blame with his work. I think he consistently puts teams out there that have the ability to win this division...at some point the players have to play and earn their paychecks. Many blame him for the poor farm system. I guess he was in charge of that before being GM.

QUOTE (since56 @ May 1, 2011 -> 06:30 AM) Its got to be Ozzie/Oney. Walker is not a big enough impact. Ozzie is the bombshell to let the players know they are going to go too if this doesn't change now. No one is sacred. If Ozzie can get fired the players can get sent down released or traded. Light a fire under their asses with a bold move. Bring in Bobby Valentine. That has no effect on any MLB player. Imagine if the everyday working world has contracts like MLB. Unfortunately players have guaranteed contracts.
