  1. comparing success in the NFL and MLB is apples and oranges, 1st round picks in the NFL can create immediate success plus the choices are not large as they are in MLB. I have no idea why we are discussing the Bears.
  2. Interesting. I was at a Fall League game today which did not have the Desert Dogs and there were some Brewer fans talking about bad owners and JR is often on top. The same thing happened last year when a couple was wondering who was the worst, Fisher or Reinsdorf. He has a legacy all right. The organization has to be blacklisted among quality free agents. The only solution is to grow your own superstars and not trade them away. Anyone of value our mental illness of trade frenzy kicks in. Cheaper and younger only works if you have great scouting and development but even that falls short. Even the big spenders have great scouting and development. Winning solves everything but it doesn't if it is not consistent.
  3. Interesting the record of the Marlins 2025 under their new GM compared to Getz.
  4. the NL version of the Rays
  5. Not near as much at Dodger stadium even in the regular season. Someone told me if you wanted to go to a Dodger game during the season expect to pay at least $150. Their ST tickets are expensive as well.
  6. I'm more jealous than bitter about the Cubs - they still have a decent farm and free agents will play for them
  7. How many remember that. They had some clubbers on that team. I can't remember one pitcher from that team.
  8. we are in the age of unclutch bullpens......
  9. You knew that was going to happen. Imagine what a game like this would be back when the NL didn't have the DH.
  10. only in fantasy sports..........I can't think of one of those guys would want to play here.
  11. then it got worse with the Sox gaining Kimbrel and Pollack. Where is Madrigal now BTW?
  12. Amazed how many HoF guys were lackluster in the postseason.
  13. Darn. I decided to stay home since rain was in my area around game time.
  14. all I want to know is what got into Vaughn?
  15. Dodger's making the post season look easy for them.
  16. Jays scored double digits twice in a row
  17. The Sox fan ritual of playing everyone at first base. We just need that Lamar Johnson to change that thinking. Since Cannon doesn't pitch well put him at first.
  18. Losing is a habit. Sure you can maybe have a couple of years of success and back to being bad again. They are not alone. Somehow we think rebuild = success. There's some organizations that send the message fans can't have nice things. Attention wannabe team owners, winning is expensive in all sports.
  19. that would be interesting. Our value as fans would be "glad he's gone". These are the types of FA you get when an organization is one of the worst in baseball, Forget Tucker, Naylor, because they would never sign here unless you pay them like Juan Soto. Then you have those guys hoping to get traded to a contender. The real issue is to erase that Reinsdorf blemish which will be Ishbia's greatest challenge.
  20. you still have to get there....but having a stud pitcher out with the TJ virus is gonna cost you at least 10 games and no postseason, you still need a healthy offense and a starter who can do the job Hopefully the habit of relying on a pen more than a starter goes away. Pens are often inconsistent. A Crochet was the difference between staying home and then there's the Pirates. Think of some of these older Sox teams would have been great in a post season short series but lacked a lot of everything else.
  21. It's really logic but that is overlooked in baseball and other sports. A guy who works every 5th day vs, people who play a lot more games. It would not be wise to trade a stud pitcher for more pitchers who are not proven but more as a budget move. Oh for a farm system that can produce both. Amazed what some teams pay for an "over the hill based on age" pitcher on they way to the Hall if they can get one season out of them.
  22. I'm happy for both as players. Imagine being in Vargas' shoes going from the Dodgers to the Sox and being exposed to Grtifol. Colson wondering if he is going to waste away in Charlotte. I applaud the Sox for risking the sink or swim. Nice to see something work out for the Sox even if it fails long term.
  23. my brain can't work that hard so I'll just tune in next season not knowing what will happen after 2026 doesn't bother me if JR is cautious - I guess a credible excuse
