QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 09:58 PM) Gardenhire leading the Twins to their 6th division title without an MVP candidate and the second best closer of the last half decade. Just a tad more impressive than Mr. "I makes da f***ing lineup." Really? In today's world of modern sports, winning it all goes farther than winning divisions. They have a label for teams that only win divisions. For example:Colts have been labeled the "Atlanta Braves of the NFL". When you only win divisions, you get labeled "the Atlanta Braves". So the Twins are the Atlanta Brave of the AL. If both managers were to switch teams, I doubt you see any noticeable difference.

Chris Sale Appreciation Thread (FIRE KEITH LAW)

QUOTE (danman31 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 02:51 PM) His scouting report said plus fastball, plus change, plus control, average slider that's tough on lefties. The slider seems better and the control seems worse than that, but I think a large part of the control is that he went from college to MLB hitters in a few months. Maybe he's having trouble consistently finding his slot coming out of the bullpen. There are so many factors that could be messing with his control. I think it's reasonable to expect that improves for next season with more work. I wonder what it's like to be in the mind of a kid who had little time in the minors and every time he goes to the mound, one mistake can put a team in a race further behind. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 05:22 PM) I just wanted to give him a shout out since he catches so much s*** when the offense sucks. Don Cooper seems to be the untouchable. His magic seems to have faded away of late. Fans and now Ozzie are starting to put their faith in a kid with hardly any pro ball experience. The way the pen has been in critical moments you would think they were actually trying to throw the games. Maybe they should be investigated for gambling.

Back on track... I see the Chicago media is having a field day ever since the lame press conference. They act as if the Sox are already doomed based on how Manny reacted to the press conference. How many players put on waivers really wants to deal with a press conference?

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 08:44 AM) What can you attribute that to? Is Gardenhire a better manager and getting more out of his players? His post ASB record is ridiculous by the way. I don't know how he does it. Maybe he doesn't. Sometimes managers get too much credit. It has a lot to do with the guys on the field and the GM. One thing that has improved is the defense especially Alexei. I would tribute that to having Omar out there. Sometimes one guy can make everyone better. Pierre has played a decent outfield as well. One thing with the Twins is often the luck factor sides with them more so with the Sox. I'm glad they are out of that garbage bag stadium. They use to get the oddest hits there.

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 01:14 PM) That will be a good learning experience for Sale. I am not sure what happens to him sometimes with his wildness, however, as sometimes it seems as if he has no clue. But then he finds the slot again and is excellent.... Not exactly the learning experience you want to give a kid who has very little pro ball experience. This kid might be more helpful in 2011 as a closer than a starter.

QUOTE (rafacosta @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 12:57 PM) please...no more Teahen on 3rd base! Oh I don't know about that. It brings back memories when the organization thought Fields could play 3rd base. It goes to show when Kenny acquires a player, defense is the least of priorities.

QUOTE (WinorDie88 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 12:47 PM) Sale only hitting 94? hmm. Sale is quickly working into the over worked category. Besides the it's hard to blow the ball by the Indians.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 12:39 PM) Carlos Quentin, 810 OPS Andruw Jones, 800 OPS I think we might have passed the Rays the past month for not having the worst DH numbers in the AL. Somehow they managed to win 81 games and are a game behind the Yanks.

I think I've seen a bullpen that's worse than the Sox.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 12:18 PM) A huge part of the reason that they've done it without the long ball is that Target field has been the worst HR hitters ballpark in baseball. The Twins have been one of the most potent HR hitting ballclubs in the league on the road...they've hit 80 HR on the road, for #3 int he AL. It hasn't done any wonders for their way record either yet they have out produced most teams in scoring.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 12:06 PM) If you watched the game last night and it appears you did. You saw the same situation unfold very differntly and it shows why the Twins beat the Sox on a consistent basis. I will not even bring up the 2 walks and HBP 's to tie the game. You know Ramirez does not work the AB like Hardy did against Coke. It 's interesting to look at the Twins offense stats. individual stats don't wow anyone but they do well collectively. They've been scoring a lot of runs without the long ball. Their approach at the plate is not all or nothing.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 11:56 AM) The Twins bunted down 3 in the 6th inning? Yep. Why do you think Ozzie called them Piranyas.
-
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 11:52 AM) Playing for a run when you are down three with 12 outs left in tha game is never a good move. I do not care if Gehrig and Ruth were coming up. You musta missed a many Sox vs. Twins games where the Twins used that strategy.

QUOTE (WinorDie88 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 11:33 AM) Wow I hate Tony Pena. Can we release him already? He's the Kotsay of the pen. Someone in the organization believes in him except the fans. My guess is Kenny and Coop.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 08:41 PM) Looking more and more like our ineptitude against the Twins is going to cost us. It wouldn't be much of an issue if they weren't owned by the Royals and Orioles.

Jackson=stud. Jake who?

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 07:50 PM) talk about anti-climax for a clev fan. We understand their bullpen misery.
-
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 07:39 PM) Whatever happened to going quietly in the 9th ? The Sox offense may have to beat 2 bullpens again.

Twins are losing so far..

I wonder what got into this Jackson guy since joining the Sox. He looks like an ace.

QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 07:05 PM) That's just baseball. The complaining about good, aggressive baseball in here is hilarious. We are use to station to station baseball.

Lillibridge always looks clueless on that base paths.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 06:29 PM) You forgot about Morel. He's been on fire in AAA as of late. I could see Morel at 3rd next year with Viciedo at DH/1B and Teahen getting some playing time at all three spots. So I take the Dodger didn't get Morel for Manny.

QUOTE (th0mas35 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 12:56 PM) Sale right now has the most confidence than any other pitcher in the bullpen. I'd support the idea. Stink spreads on this team and Sale will eventually have a bad outing. Last night it looked like he was trying to be too finesse.
