QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 1, 2010 -> 07:52 AM) Ozzie Guillen. Maybe Ozzie puts him out there for trade reasons. Then Kenny can trade him for an over the hill players he always wanted.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 1, 2010 -> 09:07 AM) Seriously? You don't think this team can handle more ex Royals and ex Nat'l leaguers?
-
QUOTE (soxfan-kwman @ Jul 1, 2010 -> 09:26 AM) Dejesus is a good call. He will add something & I don't know for sure, but he seems like a guy who wants to play on a winner. He appears to want to play for a "winning organization" That makes the Sox a long shot then. "Winning Organization" is defined by Webster's Dictionary for the Professional Athlete:Any professional sports franchise that is willing pay and athlete what the athlete thinks he is worth or well above market value.

QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jul 1, 2010 -> 06:42 AM) Maybe my day is starting right, Cowley is saying that Williams is on his way to AAA!!! Now there's going to be a lot of angry fans in AAA.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 10:36 PM) A guy like Jones doesn't make me want to give up Flowers. If we're going to give up Flowers, I'd rather just go for broke and give up he and Hudson for some kind of stud player. If not, I'd rather try and find a cheaper solution. That would be great if you could get a guy like Gonzalez but for any player that isn't along that caliber you have to remember AJ isn't going to last forever and you don't have anyone to fill the hole if Danks isn't locked up or Freddy can't pitch anymore. I just don't think one good bat will put this team closer to a World Series. It seems mid season trades never really work for the Sox for that season.

You know that radar gun is way off when Linebrink is throwing 97.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 09:26 PM) Ozzie doesn't think we can win. Then again.....if the Sox tie it then he can't use Williams or Linebrink.

Wow seems like I missed a lot since it was 3-1 when I had to take care of something.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 10:30 PM) Im sorry but there is just no way anyone expected that Thome would turn back the clock. When I watched Thome last year (eye test) he looked like he had lost it. Kotsay may not have been the best player in the world, but at the end of the year, Kotsay looked like he was going to be far more solid than Thome. Thome is gone, him leaving wasnt the worst decision ever, it just is what it is. If the Sox thought Thome would hit 1.00+ ops they would have signed him. They were worried hed put up stats like his LA stint or his August stats, and that they would have a player wasting space on the bench who cant even play the field. Dunn has nothing to do with Thome. Great analysis. The team was loaded with slow guys and of the slow guys Thome was the odd man out because he's limited to what he can do.

The ump behind the plate was very inconsistent.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 09:39 PM) Matt's just not as dominant as he was before the whole elbow incident. This team can never look dominant facing the Royals.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 08:23 PM) You are crazyy for thinking the Cubs would make that trade, yes Then again they might say yes if the Sox took all of Z's contract. They have a lot of bad contracts. Don Cooper has admitted he doesn't want him. His immaturity is making Bradley to out to be a saint. I can't imagine any ML team taking him.

Sox vs Cubs 6-27 game thread 1:05 first pitch
kitekrazy replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2010 Season in Review
I didn't notice how bad the Cubs D was until today when Aramis took his time getting the ball to 1st and Alexi was safe. -
QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 05:37 PM) A manager telling the press that he wants his GM to add to his roster suggests that he lacks confidence in his players. So of course Ozzie's going to tell the media that he doesn't want to add anybody. So few fans see it this way. You've nailed the reality that exists in professional sports. There's a hidden message in that quote. The Sox don't have much to bargain with unless it involves removing someone from the current roster. Getting a full time DH is probably easier said than done. Other than Thome, most guys probably want to be on the field.

Maybe Kenny is looking for a quantity for quality trade.

Sox vs Cubs 6-27 game thread 1:05 first pitch

I'm bummed the winning streak is over. BTW, did any one read this. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune....s-+RosenBlog%29 -
10 in a row! Mercy. Never, never did I expect this.

QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 04:18 PM) The Force is strong with Linebrink, and he's immune to Coop's Jedi Mind Trick. Best post I've read all day. Sad that guys who play good get traded more than guys who completely suck.
-
I would have never thought we would see a win streak this long. Sure some were crap teams but that's usually when the Sox lay down. Hopwfully they can put an end that when they play KC and CLE.

Former Birmingham Barons Manager Wally Backham Goes Ape-S*#t
kitekrazy replied to maggsmaggs's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (Wanne @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 03:13 PM) hahaaa...I love Wally Backman! Yes...for about 3 or 4 days he was manager of the DBags and a NY paper wrote a story about he was arrested a couple times (one on a domestic dispute and the other a DUI)...and that he had some serious financial problems. BFD. DBags really dropped the ball on this one IMO. I always thought the guy deserved a second chance. I don't think they did. The guy is a jerk. -
Sox at Washington 6-18 game thread
kitekrazy replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2010 Season in Review
QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 09:01 PM) sox flashin the leather in the 9th. 5.5 back great win with strasburg the opposing pitcher Wow, that Strasburg kid can pitch. Imagine if he were on a winning team. It's nice to see things going the Sox way. They're playing some good defense. Another 4 game winning streak. -
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 05:30 PM) See I thought he was just locking up Teahen in hopes that he'd out-perform his contract by a substantial margin, thereby making him one of our better trading chips. But....he sucks. Do you think Kenny really wanted him here for 3 years? I bet Ozzie doesn't.

Does it matter that Quentin has sucked this season?
kitekrazy replied to Vance Law's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Maybe he should have taken the "early money" like Floyd instead of hopes of having a big payday. -
QUOTE (G&T @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 09:13 PM) So wait, this thread isn't a joke? ROFLMAO! It is to me. Kenny should have gotten it in 2005.

QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 03:40 PM) Another possibility is that we have a deal in place to move Sweaty Freddy, just hasn't been announced yet. Or maybe trading Hudson...
