QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 09:50 PM) Outhomered 7 to 2 in a 3 game set with the Twins, and both homers were from Quentin. This team needs more power. The Sox use to out homer a lot of teams but what good are they when no one is on. They don't need more power. They need to score runs when the bases are loaded with no outs. This team lacks situational hitting. It seems there is nothing going on between the ears of this lineup when they are up to the plate other than trying to kill the baseball.

QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 10:09 PM) Maybe we are just runnin out of gas from that great run we had. They were due for a funk. I still find it hard to believe this current team had that amazing run like winning 25 out of 30.

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 10:09 PM) And this folks is why the Sox will be watching the post season rather than playing in it.. they can't beat the Twins head to head..... or the Royals Indians and the AL East

QUOTE (Knackattack @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 09:58 PM) Not trying to blame anything but, according to gameday, this ump is awful. It's hard to notice when the Sox are playin awful.

QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 09:57 PM) The Twinkies just play better baseball with RISP.... I guess their average is pretty decent hitting after 2 outs.

Game Thread 8/10: MIN v CWS, 7:10pm
kitekrazy replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in 2010 Season in Review
Baseball is a game of streaks. The Sox had two great ones back to back. They were due for a bad one. -
QUOTE (GREEDY @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 05:42 PM) Hawpe is a bad defender. ManRam is a bad defender. I really want someone that can play RF so TCQ can DH. Since when is defense a high priority on Kenny's list.

QUOTE (aprec32 @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 12:13 AM) I have it right now and think its pretty solid. I actually run it through into my TV. There are some moments where it freezes and I only get audio, but for the price, I think its worth it. Did you pay for the higher streaming? I think it is $20. I can't afford the TV package.

So the team had an 11 game winning streak and now a 7 game streak with a break in between. I would have never expected this group to do this. I hope the all star break doesn't cool this team down. The real bummer is when the Sox play the Twins I'll be living in AZ. Has anyone ever bought the MLB web streaming? It's either that or loiter a sports bar. The neat thing is I will be living 10 minutes away from the Spring training facility. Me an my brother are hoping to get a chance to watch Strasburg pitch against the Diamondbacks in August. Tickets are really cheap too. Even if the Sox are good or bad, I may suffer from White Sox withdrawal. At least I still have Sox Talk.

I'm glad it wasn't Freddy. For a 5th starter the guy sure does win. This might make getting another bat a hard task when someone will ask for a arm from the farm.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 1, 2010 -> 07:52 AM) Ozzie Guillen. Maybe Ozzie puts him out there for trade reasons. Then Kenny can trade him for an over the hill players he always wanted.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 1, 2010 -> 09:07 AM) Seriously? You don't think this team can handle more ex Royals and ex Nat'l leaguers?

QUOTE (soxfan-kwman @ Jul 1, 2010 -> 09:26 AM) Dejesus is a good call. He will add something & I don't know for sure, but he seems like a guy who wants to play on a winner. He appears to want to play for a "winning organization" That makes the Sox a long shot then. "Winning Organization" is defined by Webster's Dictionary for the Professional Athlete:Any professional sports franchise that is willing pay and athlete what the athlete thinks he is worth or well above market value.

QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jul 1, 2010 -> 06:42 AM) Maybe my day is starting right, Cowley is saying that Williams is on his way to AAA!!! Now there's going to be a lot of angry fans in AAA.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 10:36 PM) A guy like Jones doesn't make me want to give up Flowers. If we're going to give up Flowers, I'd rather just go for broke and give up he and Hudson for some kind of stud player. If not, I'd rather try and find a cheaper solution. That would be great if you could get a guy like Gonzalez but for any player that isn't along that caliber you have to remember AJ isn't going to last forever and you don't have anyone to fill the hole if Danks isn't locked up or Freddy can't pitch anymore. I just don't think one good bat will put this team closer to a World Series. It seems mid season trades never really work for the Sox for that season.

You know that radar gun is way off when Linebrink is throwing 97.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 09:26 PM) Ozzie doesn't think we can win. Then again.....if the Sox tie it then he can't use Williams or Linebrink.

Wow seems like I missed a lot since it was 3-1 when I had to take care of something.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 10:30 PM) Im sorry but there is just no way anyone expected that Thome would turn back the clock. When I watched Thome last year (eye test) he looked like he had lost it. Kotsay may not have been the best player in the world, but at the end of the year, Kotsay looked like he was going to be far more solid than Thome. Thome is gone, him leaving wasnt the worst decision ever, it just is what it is. If the Sox thought Thome would hit 1.00+ ops they would have signed him. They were worried hed put up stats like his LA stint or his August stats, and that they would have a player wasting space on the bench who cant even play the field. Dunn has nothing to do with Thome. Great analysis. The team was loaded with slow guys and of the slow guys Thome was the odd man out because he's limited to what he can do.

The ump behind the plate was very inconsistent.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 09:39 PM) Matt's just not as dominant as he was before the whole elbow incident. This team can never look dominant facing the Royals.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 08:23 PM) You are crazyy for thinking the Cubs would make that trade, yes Then again they might say yes if the Sox took all of Z's contract. They have a lot of bad contracts. Don Cooper has admitted he doesn't want him. His immaturity is making Bradley to out to be a saint. I can't imagine any ML team taking him.

Sox vs Cubs 6-27 game thread 1:05 first pitch
kitekrazy replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2010 Season in Review
I didn't notice how bad the Cubs D was until today when Aramis took his time getting the ball to 1st and Alexi was safe. -
QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 05:37 PM) A manager telling the press that he wants his GM to add to his roster suggests that he lacks confidence in his players. So of course Ozzie's going to tell the media that he doesn't want to add anybody. So few fans see it this way. You've nailed the reality that exists in professional sports. There's a hidden message in that quote. The Sox don't have much to bargain with unless it involves removing someone from the current roster. Getting a full time DH is probably easier said than done. Other than Thome, most guys probably want to be on the field.

Maybe Kenny is looking for a quantity for quality trade.
