  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 05:17 PM) I cant believe how expensive bleacher seats have gotten. I can't believe how expensive MLB tickets are compared to other sports.
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 10:14 AM) Over the past 2 years, no hitters, 1 hitters, 2 hitters, and perfect games are up a total of 50% over the average of the most recent 10 year span of the Steroid Era. I think it is interesting to note how much baseball is shifting back to a pitchers league and I think we will see the way the game is played get altered a bit in the near future. Some of the little things that help you scrap out a run or two will become more important. As will having guys that can play incredible defense. Sounds like something Ozzie would say and believes. Another thing is the league is so lopsided as far a hitters go. The average to below average AL pitcher can go the the NL and have success. I'm not surprised Peavy more more lit up than lights out.
  3. QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 11:43 PM) This has been going on in baseball forever. It's part of the game because much of the rules are, indeed subjective. No apologies or overturning rules. This is so much the "pussification of the USA" that I've ever seen! I like this post. Officiating pro sports has become more difficult since players are much faster these days. Some people should watch an NBA game then come back and complain about officiating. Thumbs up for the ump who humbled himself to admitting he blew a call.
  4. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 12:48 PM) Okay... I hate the way that Mike Caruso OOPS - Gordon Beckham was anointed the Next Big Thing - only to turn out to be trash. I hate the way Carlos Quentin has totally and completely sh*t the bed and will seemingly never be TCQ from 2008 again. I hate that Peavy talked all that sh*t, and is being out pitched by Freddy F***ing Garcia. I hate the way Buehrle seemingly blew his arm out throwing that f**king perfect game. I hate that Mark F**king Teahen couldn't catch a molasses covered softball hit right at him. I hate the way Mark Kotsay is given at bats like he's Justin F**king Morneau. I hate the way fat a$$ Bobby Jenks can't get a f**king 1-2-3 inning. I hate how Alexei Ramirez acts like he's got cow sh*t for brains at times in the field. I hate how AJ's batting average sucks this year. I hate how no one in the minor leagues is playing worth a damn. Last but not least, I absolutely hate Thunderbolt's sad sad quote about our uneducated manager: "There's too much freaking information in baseball now," Guillen said. "There's too many (bleeping) guys on the computer. It's simple. I say that. Pete Rose never watched a computer. Rod Carew never did. All those hitters, they go out and see the ball, hit it and move on." Ahhh... I actually feel a little better now... Well done. I couldn't read a better summary. BTW this season was over long before it started. Could anyone really think back in Feb. this would be a World Series caliber team?
  5. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 11:20 PM) None of this matters until we get a manager that can make the right decisions. This is Ozzie's team, and he deserves to take the fall for it and be fired now or at the end of the year along with the majority of his coaching staff. I assume you think 9/11 was a conspiracy as well. This was Kenny's team with Reinsdorf's budget. I doubt Ozzie wanted Teahan, Vasquel and Pierre. Ozzie wants a certain mold but definitely NOT these guys.
  6. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 09:56 PM) How is it that Minnesota can put a contender out there year after year and we seem to be watching the same movie since second half, 2006? I would assume since they are a small market they decide to invest in scouting and development. From what I've seen the previous two seasons the Sox are very bad at this. It scares me when people think of trading certain veteran players for prospects.
  7. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ May 28, 2010 -> 08:50 PM) I wouldn't get carried away. Beckham bailed him out of the bad managing in the top of the 9th. He was ok to stick with Thornton in the bottom with all the lefties coming up. Putting in Putz would have been another bad decision. Doesn't matter though as it was a big win. I agree.
  8. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 28, 2010 -> 08:46 PM) GOOOOOOOD WIN! We should split this thing at worst now. Big time from Freddy! This was a nice win. They made em pay for the late inning mistakes. That Rays catcher brought back memories of Wayne Nordhagen.
  9. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 28, 2010 -> 06:58 PM) That was a killer pitch location. Right on the corner. Good hitters would have crushed that curve that high in the zone, but not Quentin.
  10. I think a lot of it is learning a new league. Pitchers seem to have more success going from the AL to the NL. There's a lot more good hitters in the AL. I'll give him a pass this year if he doesn't live up to his ace status. Next year......NO!
  11. QUOTE (Real @ May 26, 2010 -> 08:57 PM) 6 back, and just when you think we're gonna go on a roll, in comes TAMPA BAY. The best team in baseball. Ha! They will probably play much better than if it were the Royals. I heard the later part of the game on the radio. I was a little upset that no one was warming up in the pen when Jenks came close to losing it. Sounded like it was a strange game. Almost as strange as some of the post on the previous 2 pages.
  12. QUOTE (WHITESOXRANDY @ May 21, 2010 -> 11:55 AM) The sad part is that there is no one in the minors to bring up to replace anyone on this team. and....no money for top free agents That I have no problem with.
  13. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 21, 2010 -> 03:26 PM) It happened in 83, and will happen again in 2010. Let's have some faith! The incredible run begins tonight! :-) Please introduce me to your crack dealer.
  14. What good is salary relief for this organization? We have more years of Mark Teahan because of it. This team also got older this season. Waddya bet 5 years from now Kenny Williams signs Tori Hunter only because he wanted Tori Hunter? Note to Kenny: NL talent
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 21, 2010 -> 09:52 PM) The problem with feasting on the NL is that the Twins and Tigers are going to do the same thing. When AL teams play the Sox it's no too far from feasting on the NL. They got enough of former NLers.
  16. GM Williams needs to be honest about Sox' plight http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...T-joe21.article
  17. Good new is....................Blackhawks are on tonight!
  18. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 21, 2010 -> 09:19 AM) At least they made a run at it Thursday even though we lose another 1 run game I turned that game off after the 7th and went to bed. When I found out about the ground rule double, the baseball gods interjected and would not allow this bad team to win.
  19. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 20, 2010 -> 09:32 PM) reading lips, looked like AJ said 'go f*** yourself' to Aybar when he argued that call He said, "aren't we f***ing terrible?".
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ May 20, 2010 -> 08:42 PM) Get rid of them all...if firing KW is what's needed to have someone with the balls to make changes, then get rid of his ass. I believe this team was built with the hopes the Twins and Tigers would be worse. I can't think that anyone could believe this team could have stood toe to toe in the playoffs with teams from the AL East. The Teahan move still baffles me. I don't think it's wise to get a player from a consistent losing organization when they are willing to give him up. Since this organization doesn't like to spend money then they need to model that organization who believe in a good farm system.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ May 20, 2010 -> 08:39 PM) If it makes people feel better, even Farmer is saying changes need to be made. This team is just so boring, every offensive game is the same. Like from being terrible to below mediocre-that's about the best it will get.
  22. QUOTE (TitoMB @ May 20, 2010 -> 08:00 PM) He hasn't even been close on most of them. Its like he can't see the outfielder or something. It's fairly easy to tell where its going to end up based on the position and heading of the fielder. He's just trying to give fans some hope. We got it easy. We can turn this game off and watch Carol Burnett reruns. Hawk - not so lucky. He has to try to make s***ty baseball sound entertaining.
  23. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 20, 2010 -> 08:06 PM) here's a thought, Jake: THROW STRIKES Just as long as they are not BP strikes.
  24. QUOTE (TitoMB @ May 20, 2010 -> 07:57 PM) Ugh, it's painful being a Sox fan these days. Just got here. It sure is but I was LMAO over the green sarcasm posts. Sox fans with a sense of humor really lessen the pain.
