  1. QUOTE (flavum @ May 14, 2010 -> 09:45 PM) Yeah, there's a bunch of garbage on this team. What they get back in trades doesn't matter. It would be like the trade deadline in 2002 when they traded four or five players for minor league garbage. Just get these guys out and clear payroll room for next year. Clearing payroll isn't the answer either. Look what they did with the savings from Thome and Dye. It's the philosophy that needs to be changed.
  2. So it's quite possible KC will be the only team to move up a game in the division.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ May 14, 2010 -> 09:22 PM) And Sergio Santos is warming up. GMAFB I think the strategy is to tire out the K.C. bats so they can't hit the rest of the weekend.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ May 14, 2010 -> 09:18 PM) As I said last week, his only value is as a utility guy. Instead, we stick him at his worst defensive position and at a position where his lack of power is magnified. Just a stupid idea. It's proven once again defense isn't and probably never will be a priority with this organization. Last season Josh can't Fields was your opening day 3rd basemen.
  5. Stink sure does spread with this team. I think they would have been better off keeping Mark in.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ May 14, 2010 -> 09:10 PM) This is two straight poor seasons, and 3 bad seasons out of the last 4 years. What's the harm in getting someone new in charge? It's broke, and needs to be fixed. No manager can fix this.
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ May 14, 2010 -> 09:08 PM) I think Don Cooper would be an awful manager. You have to be somewhat good with the media, and I think he would be very combative with them. He's should stay as pitching coach-that's what he's good at. He's a wuss when responding to criticism.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 14, 2010 -> 09:02 PM) Cmon. Oz may suck but gimme a break. Mark got duck snorted to death and it sounds from the radio guys like Teahen did something wrong on that one hit. Not going to win too many games scoring one run either. Why is the defense always playing guys to hit up the middle?
  9. I think we will see a lot more of this kind of immaturity since most modern day athletes are coming from a generation where everyone gets a trophy.
  10. QUOTE (sircaffey @ May 11, 2010 -> 07:35 PM) Ehh...When he turned 20 he was in the mist of a season in which he committed 32 errors, so I wouldn't say he was refined at that moment. Wow! I believe if your major deficiency is defensive to begin with, all of the instruction in the world will not change that at the minor league level.
  11. QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ May 12, 2010 -> 08:13 PM) It doesn't look like Castro was a good defensive player in the minors either: http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/p...id=castro001sta 2009 - almost 40 errors in 119 games. The perfect White Sox.
  12. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ May 12, 2010 -> 10:14 PM) I thought it had a lot to do with Viciedo was a butcher at 3B despite Cubano trying to convince us otherwise and the fact that the wsox are so high on Morel. It just goes to show you defense is never a priority in this organization. They try to churn out as many DH/1B as possible.
  13. I used any oil that was available. Even motor oil or cooking oil. They didn't have microwaves back when I was in Little League. Don't the have those metal rings for the laces anymore? I would think your glove would start to spark in the microwave.
  14. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 11, 2010 -> 11:30 PM) I literally fainted when Juan Pierre got that XBH. LITERALLY. Also can't believe we won a game WITHOUT the long ball. I thought I was watching a different game. It doesn't appear there will be any cheap homeruns or strange bounces in that park. That's a nice park. I hated watching games on TV when they were at the baggy dome.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 12, 2010 -> 09:34 AM) Until you stop going 1-5 against teams like Cleveland then there's no reason to score board watch right now. That's been there problem this whole century. Losing to the lesser teams always hurts.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 11, 2010 -> 05:50 PM) Before he came up, they had talked about the high amount of errors he was making in the minors. I think he has really great range and can make some unbelievable plays, but is prone to simple errors. Kinda like the shortstop across town.
  17. We might not see this many two out hits the rest of the season.
  18. Even if the team was much better, the Sox still have this hang up when it comes to beating the Twins.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 11, 2010 -> 12:02 PM) We just haven't spend near enough in terms of international free agents and on the draft. Ahh but just think, how bad it would be it if Fukadome signed with the Sox. How is that Visciedo or whatever dude is from Cuba doing in the minors? Is he any good defensively?
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ May 11, 2010 -> 11:20 AM) I agree...it was a team that needed a lot of "Ifs" to come true in order to really compete with a very strong Twins team. Yep. We really shouldn't be that disappointed. The team didn't get younger either.
  21. So does this happen to other major league teams that are supposedly good to have many hitter slump at the same time? Or does this happen only in Chicago? They got the same thing happening on the other side of town and they are suppose to have a really good hitting coach.

QUOTE (lostfan @ May 9, 2010 -> 10:36 PM) I need to get rid of a coffee table, and I don't even care how much I get for it, they just have to come get it. freecycle.org I have to get rid of a lot of stuff. It goes quicker when you offer to give stuff away. Freecycle is broken down into smaller communities and emails are exchanged in yahoo groups.
  23. What you don't read in the news is the problems they are facing in Europe with the illegal immigrants from the Middle East. They have that same entitlement mentality.
  24. QUOTE (whitem0nkey @ May 10, 2010 -> 10:48 PM) My fantasy football forum is my main forum, but for baseball im done with WSI, I was never banned, but i felt so censored while making post. I would get so mad at the lack of respect from the moderators. It's gotten real whiney over there and no sense of humor.
  25. I don't like the idea of trading for prospects because that's what they are. I don't trust the Sox farm system either to further develop those prospects. The problem is losing teams always makes those trades. Those trades are made out of weakness.
