  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 10:16 PM) KW acquired players to play OZZIE BALL! During ST, Ozzie kept saying how much he loved this roster cause of versatility and speed. Almost everyone knew this approach wouldn't work, and it's quite obvious that the current roster can't compete. Thus, that's why the manager should be on the hot seat. If it was a bunch of power hitters that KW acquired, even though Ozzie said he wanted speedy guys, then KW would be more on the hot seat. Yes, but Kenny did not aquire the best players. Of course Ozzie is going to say that. Do you think any manager tells the truth? He's probably thinking this is a horse s*** team. Did Pierre, Tehan, Jones and Visquel really get you excited in the off season? They are all over the hill and one of them is from an organization where they do nothing but lose. I get this feeling if Damon was on the team, he would probably be batting .210 or age would catch up. It's time to start improving the minors. Sox don't like paying big money and experienced vets from other organizations just don't seem to pan out. I don't think there is a manager that can fix this. I do think it is time to fire Greg Walker. I doubt it will make much difference, but the feast and famine pattern has been going on too long. I don't know if it's his fault but a change is necessary for change's sake.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 09:00 PM) THEN WHY DOES HE BOTHER WATCHING THE GAMES? I'm startin to wonder why we bother.
  3. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 08:54 PM) Alright, I really don't know if I can watch this. Wow. I feel like everything that could be said has been said. This team is bad, awful, horrible. Nothing about this team even has me remotely excited about this year, which is a complete 180 of how I was going into the season. 20 games in, and this team has sucked the life out of its fan base. Man, you were duped. Getting Jaun Pierre should have been the 1st clue. He still has that Cub stink on him.
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 12:58 AM) This is stupid and just gives the stupid population of the two fanbases some ammo to scream out more stupidity. I don't even want to imagine a Cubs fan telling me that they get this stupid ass trophy because they've won the season series somehow. Like hell, a 6 game sample size really shows that you're the better team... If I'm the Sox, I don't agree to something stupid like this. We have the real trophy lying somewhere around the Cell and it says World Series Champions on it. Why create something like this? Crosstown Classic............zzzzz. I find it the most annoying thing on the schedule. The whole Cubs/Sox series lost it's excitement many years ago. The two most annoying sports events every year are Cubs vs. Sox, Pats vs. Colts.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 03:48 PM) Uribe of course, have to get a shout out to him. He's the ONLY member of the franchise I've ever heard that Mark Buehrle would donate part of his own salary to keep in the fold. You didn't see him doing that with Thome or Dye. Juan was probably the most popular "across the board" (with white/black/Hispanic/Asian) player we've ever had in terms of how well-loved he was in the clubhouse. He was always in the middle of everything, smiling, having fun, loosening up the environment...he loves to play the game of baseball almost as much as Guillen does, it's never seeming like work for him, even at the end of another K resulting from an akward HR pull swing on an outside breaking ball. Great arm, strangest defensive mechanics that worked....Mr. Clutch RBI, Mr. RBI w/ Runner at 3rd and less than 2 outs, and a capable bunter as well. Remember Toby Hall and the pie incident? Uribe does that to Dye, you never hear a word about it, 100%. That's why I like Uribe, for those who keep commenting on it. DAVE WILLS OR JOHN ROONEY. Joking with you Ranger, you're going a good job, youngster! Keep it up... He was a solid glove. I remember when he had to fill in for Crede. It shows you how bad this organization is when they let Uribe go and start a season with Josh Can't Fields at 3rd. Defense means nothing to this organization.
  6. Great article even tho' I didn't read the whole thing. It's not easy in MLB to have a great pen. They are never consistent.
  7. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 07:48 AM) Never gonna happen. Just Rogers filling up space. Wrap your fish in this junk. Best post I've read so far. This team can hit, field, sometimes pitch or run the bases. One guy isn't going to change all of that. Let this season tank. I could hear Jim Mora now. "Playoffs?" "Playoffs?" Since Kenny is into getting players past their prime, might as well get Cecil Fielder.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 09:01 PM) Texas just hitting the daylights out of the ball the last two innings. They are good at it. It must be an organization thing. Last year's hitting coach is with the Cubs.
  9. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 08:58 PM) wow, and i thought everyone on here was being too pessimistic about pierre and over exaggerating about how bad he was lol i thought he was good.. Not me. I always thought he was a dumb ball player when he played for the Cubs.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 08:54 PM) We're down 2, not 1 Yep. We are down 2 outs not 1. Pierre should bunt regardless.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 03:04 PM) but he's lacking in baseball IQ Powerful statement. I would say this is something the organization cares very little when it comes to drafting and evaluating players. They believe it can always be taught. Most players coming into the minors or just coming out of college have been playing the game to some degree for 10 years. I they don't have it then, what's the chance of them ever getting it?
  12. QUOTE (Be Good @ Apr 25, 2010 -> 07:24 PM) Once and still an active ban, I think. Banned a week before joining Soxtalk. Thank god I was because I would've never found Soxtalk I think someone from there actually recommend this site to me.
  13. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 04:50 PM) I came to the conclusion that they genuinely don't care what anyone thinks, and when they say "if you don't like it you can leave" they really mean it. It's not like they have trouble getting traffic. So I left. No hard feelings. I think because they get a lot of traffic that's why they are very touchy. I've lost interest there. I have to second guess everything I post to keep from getting banned. They expect political correctness. That is one religion I can't observe.
  14. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 09:25 PM) And to think our pitching is suppose to be the biggest strength of this team.... It's now replaced by losing. Losing is a habit and the Sox are there.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 09:23 PM) I have to laugh that now Thornton is brought into the game. One of these days his arm will wear out.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 09:20 PM) Simply miserable managing by Ozzie letting Gavin stay in to face Figgins. FIRE EVERYONE! I was wondering when someone would say this. All the guy had to do is get one out.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 08:37 PM) Wow, Pierre is sooooooo bad! Here's what I don't get. If you are a team having trouble manufacturing runs, why wasn't Pierre bunting? He does know how to do that.
  18. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 08:14 AM) I guess obtaining aging vets, injury prone plodders and role/utlility players and plugging them into a starting role isn't paying off. Nope. It was a high risk that these guys would rediscover their youth. I wasn't surprised at all it would turn out this way. I have no problem letting this all play out for the whole season. I don't think there is anything they can do this season that will put them over the top. Gonzlez would help but you would need another bat to protect him.
  19. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 08:33 AM) I have sided with JR and understand his philosophy but I am tired of being told I need to support the s*** product if I want them to spend. What company in the real world would ever have that philosophy?
  20. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 12:41 AM) Ace, there is time still to really focus on what is wrong but as bad as this sounds we may have some nice vterans to sell of for some prospects later this year. Too early though. GO SOX!!! One quick note, it is sad that as of now JDanks one would be the one to fetch us the most in a trade. But as I said too early. Prospects. That's what they are. I want players not prospects. Trading Danks would suck. I hate to weaken the rotation because they can't hit the ball. I don't think aquiring one hitter would be enough.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 09:49 PM) I said earlier they have 5 guys who would be the best player on the Sox. They probably have at least that in their farm system.
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 09:39 PM) I don't blame anyone for that. I think there was a lot to be optimistic about going into this season. The fact of the matter is that the Twins are good, and at best, the Sox will be mediocre. Hopefully after they realize it's not going to happen this season, they'll get rid of some old, tired names, and actually start the new decade with some renewed energy. I thought they were going to do that last offseason. Instead they turned into a team that would make Al Davis proud.
  23. QUOTE (NIUSox @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 09:34 PM) Penguins-Senators going to a 2nd OT. This whole postseason has been awesome. Now, we need to have a strong 3rd and get back to Chicago tied. This is closer to the team we have been watching all year. Anything to deter us from watching from watching White Sox baseball. (Is that an oxymoron?)
