QUOTE (1977 sox fan @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 10:36 PM) why is everyone missing what i wrote ? Would you really like the truth?

QUOTE (oldsox @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 10:46 PM) Mark's performance the last two months, plus his contract, means no one will take him for what you guys are considering. His trading value is waaay down. How so?

QUOTE (1977 sox fan @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 10:11 PM) i admit there rotation would be very good but in todays game a good bullpen and good hitting is needed to win . i mean the sox this year had more quility starts then any team in the american league and were under 500 so the rotation wasnt really the problem this year and with or without buehrle wont be the problem next year . Let's not forget leading the league in surrendering the most unearned runs.

QUOTE (1977 sox fan @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 10:49 PM) would free up some cash and bring in a guy with great stuff that could become a great lefty and would possibly allow us to trade another starter for a lefthanded power hitter . i like paulie especially his defense but were not going to resign him and better to move him this off season then at the deadline Don't give up your day job.

QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Oct 1, 2009 -> 09:19 PM) anyone else get a kick out of the Chicago Tribune commercials for their "awesome" sports sections showing their pre-seasons predictions of the Cubs winning 95 games (1st place) and the Sox winning 74 games. (Last place) They are much closer on the Sox prediction.

QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 08:48 PM) Hell of a game thread. Sox throw a shutout and we can't even get 3 pages of talking. I guess they are too busy eating crow. Glad to see M.B. end the season string and turn some of the posters into complete dumbasses.

9/30 Sox vs Cleveland 3:05 pm CSN - Gm 1

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 29, 2009 -> 03:27 PM) Josh Fields has said that’d he be willing to play 3b, 1b, or the OF as long as it allowed him to play everyday. If I’m the White Sox I’m sticking him in LF for the next series, and assuming he doesn’t make an ass of himself, he might even raise some of his value. He still can't catch a baseball. -
Zambrano: Sox One of Three Teams He Would Go To

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 11:23 AM) This. I can't believe anyone really wanting Bradley and Z on our team. The Sox are not even close to being that desperate. Sometimes I think the fans are. -
QUOTE (son of a rude @ Sep 27, 2009 -> 02:42 PM) Uh... He is batting something like .180 the past two months. His range is absolutely awful. You can see it by watching him or by looking at the stats. That's why the Dye detractors look at him the way they do. Why do you think he is still good? He might be more suited as a DH.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 27, 2009 -> 02:36 PM) I'm calling it. If Beckham gets up to .275, the ROY is his. He probably won't because he is a White Sox. There's a lot of anti White Sox bias when it comes out to giving awards.
-
QUOTE (WCSox @ Sep 26, 2009 -> 01:27 PM) Of course, that assumes that the Sox will be able to get anything of value for a guy who will command at least $6.5M next year and has an injured calf. Like I've said before, it's difficult to argue with Thornton's performance this year. But I have a difficult time having faith in a guy who throws almost all fastballs and his only offspeed pitch is a weak slider that he can't throw for strikes consistently. Good closers change speeds (Hoffman) and/or have good movement (Rivera). Thornton does neither. Maybe his transition to closer will be seamless, and he'll be just as effective. Maybe his lack of secondary pitches and the increased attention on him (studying film) will allow hitters to figure him out. I honestly have no idea which way it'll go. Everyone assume Jenks will be bad and Thornton will be good.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 26, 2009 -> 06:44 AM) But maybe a lefty set up guy is part of the package for Jenks. Why would a team trade a set up guy if they acquire a closer?

QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ Sep 26, 2009 -> 10:43 PM) The past few years there has been something wrong with the clubhouse. We get rid of those players, and there are still issues. When are we going to look at the person that runs that clubhouse, and have them be held accountable? Or do we over look that because he has these useless rants that everyone just ignores because he has done that a thousand times? I think a lot of it has to do with guaranteed contracts. If one cares or doesn't care they still get their money. Try that at McDonalds. When you think of it, baseball owners are a stupid lot. You have to lay most of this at the feet of Kenny. Despite what he says ti was a rebuilding year or he heavily under estimated the farm system he's in charge of. Look at what was on the field in April. That set the precedent for mediocrity and now they are b****ing about quitting and under achieving? They were predicted to suck this year and they are finally settling in. -

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 26, 2009 -> 10:46 PM) I do not want to see has been Garcia at all next year and Pena is f***ing horrid! I have yet to see what other see in Pena. I guess those are the same ones who had hope in McDougal. -
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Sep 26, 2009 -> 03:57 PM) Who will KW trade this winter? Two guys who can bring a lot back would be Alexei and Jenks. This should be a fun winter! GMs see the same thing we do. If funny how people mention "bring back a lot". What does that mean? They didn't sign Cabrera or Uribe. So what logic is there in "bringing back a lot?" Oh let me guess, they'll put another player like one of the other young Sox infielders so it can be their 1st year playing SS. Why make another hole that is assumed to be filled? Then with Jenks gone, Thornton becomes the closer after being one of the most consistent set up guys? I think they need to hold on to Jenks one more year and wait till the trade deadline to unload him if they need to. I don't think there'll be much changes. Most likely Josh Fields will be gone.
-
QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Sep 26, 2009 -> 06:56 PM) Is it possible to think all that cash now tied up with those two will force us to possibly trade Jenks, Konerko, and maybe in a couple years, Danks and/or Quentin because we can't fit them in our budget? If that happens will people tie those with the Rios waiver claim or Peavy trade? Doubt it. There's no salary cap in baseball.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 26, 2009 -> 05:40 PM) Swisher trade in retrospect shouldn't have been made. It was a stupid trade for emotional reasons.

QUOTE (son of a rude @ Sep 26, 2009 -> 04:08 PM) Phil Rogers is a f***ing moron. I would assume the same for any person who reads his columns.

Over reaction by Ozzie. BTW, he was the one who put in the horse s*** pitchers anyway. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 25, 2009 -> 11:07 PM) I'll argue til I'm blue in the face that the bullpen is a giant crapshoot and the best laid plans of mice and men will be destroyed by middle relievers...but the one thing I'm not going to believe is that TPain belongs in the closer role until I'm convinced he's worked things out as a setup man. I couldn't agree more. That's why innings are an important stat for a starting pitcher. I still don't get this fascination with Pena either.

Who should the Sox trade for this winter?

QUOTE (beck72 @ Sep 26, 2009 -> 02:23 PM) So if Alexei is moved, he'd likely bring back 2 players who could be on the sox 25 man roster. Jenks could bring back two players as well. Oh?..................Who? -

I bet both starters are liking this ump. Hitters better swing if it's close.
