  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 25, 2009 -> 07:31 PM) According to Gameday he's mixing it up anywhere from 82 to 93 mph. Which game are you watching? I ignore the radar gun.
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 02:34 PM) I think he's pointing his finger at me. I quit believing in this team after the road trip from hell. You'll be on the tradin block, in exchange for Ronnie Woo or whatever the hell that dork's name is.
  3. QUOTE (Jeremy @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 04:11 PM) I don't really understand the article. Of course the team was legitimately flawed; that's why people expected them to contend to win a weak division and not a strong division or the wild card; that's why people hoped they could pull off 85 wins, not 95 wins. I don't understand where you thought "why people expected them to contend to win a weak division and not a strong division or the wild card; that's why people hoped they could pull off 85 wins, not 95 wins". Most predictions before the season were 4th place, 90 losses. They still might have a chance at that.
  4. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 01:46 PM) You can't count out a team that would start Peavy, Danks, Freddy, and either Buehrle or Floyd. s***, Dewayne Wise hit a big 3-run homer against the Rays last year and Geoff Blum put us ahead with a bomb in the WS. Anything can happen in the postseason if you have the starting pitching. Starting pitching was never the problem this year. Defense, LOB, poor base running have been the constant all year. Oh and the other teams have starting pitching too.
  5. QUOTE (League @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 10:42 PM) Danks' value is still ridiculously high. He would bring in a haul. That said, it'd be extremely foolish to trade him. It's beyond stupid to trade any of the 4 starters. The 5th starter spot is an uncertainty. They don't need ? at the 4th, 5th spot. Oh wait. that happened this year with Colon and Contreras. That would be like a dog returning to it's vomit. Then someone will suggest finding one thru free agency who will cost more and perform less, or forget the fact the Sox don't win bidding wars, or suggest another project for Cooper. The only time you ever get rid of decent pitching is when you know you can't sign them when their contract is up.
  6. QUOTE (daggins @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 09:09 PM) because he simply has no trade bait. Glad to see someone gets it.
  7. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...T-sox24.article Can you honestly assess who is a quitter in MLB? Players that have an off year, are they quitters? It probably hasn't helped that Williams has had to watch the Minnesota Twins -- a team built on the gritty, grinder formula he has tried to duplicate each year Well start with the farm system Kenny. That's how they do it.
  8. The only thing the Sox have to offer is money in free agency. They rarely do that but who knows. They really don't have much to trade.

  10. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 01:19 PM) Given how s***ty this division is I'd say Kenny is exactly right. We're underachievers this year. The Tigers will probably take the division with 85-87 wins while the Sox are 7 games below .500. We could have won this thing. I wouldn't be content with that. If they made it to the post season, it would be a joke. I doubt they would win one post season game.
  11. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 10:42 AM) They seem to fundamentally, clash with Ozzie’s smallball instincts, and I wonder if that situation will come to a head. How is that?
  12. QUOTE (Sox1422 @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 10:12 AM) That should be in green, right? ??????????????????????????
  13. I think the organization seems to obtain too many players that have the "swing for the fence" profile. They can never hit to the opposite field. Sure they can draw walks and then it takes 3 hits to get them home. When they stop hitting home runs then we see their other weaknesses.
  14. Labeling Chicago White Sox underachievers still isn't fair http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-24-...,7170045.column Maybe we set our expectations high because the division is so crappy. That expectation isn't very high when you consider there's no way this team would ever make it and win a World Series. Winning the division would only be something to snub at Cub fans.
  15. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 10:01 AM) Starting pitchiong will be our strength next year. I don't see any of the top 4 being dealt and I would guess Freddie Garcia will be back. Now saying that anything can happen for sure. The 5th starter will be a big ? despite Freddy's performances. Get rid of MB and you create another hole. When you have to go outside the organization pitching and even medicore pitching get's expensive. Just wait and see how much money Rich Hardin get's this off season.
  16. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 10:01 AM) Buerhle's trade value is pretty minimal. Certainly no where close to enough to bring back a cheap young stud. He wouldn't command $15 million / year on the open market, and that's what a new club would have to pay him. He might get even more than $15. Not every owner or fan thinks using the "Sox wallet" as a measurement of a player's value.
  17. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 08:55 AM) Buehrle kind of exploded after his perfect game. I don't recall many (if any) dominating games since then. What the hell happened? He didn't get any help from the lineup either. He isn't going anywhere unless you get a player like Pujols or Mauer.
  18. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Sep 23, 2009 -> 10:16 PM) That's the worst call I've seen in a long time. No where close to the zone. Yeah but AJ lost his cool and swung at a bad pitch.
  19. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 23, 2009 -> 09:47 PM) Dye appears to be reading the paper. It might be too little too late. Could be. I'm sure he doesn't want to be embarrassed having his mom stick up for him in the media.
  20. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 23, 2009 -> 09:47 PM) Dye appears to be reading the paper. It might be too little too late. Maybe he read a book on hitting.
  21. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 23, 2009 -> 09:41 PM) Not to mention Cincy and Houston won so the sox will gain a game for the 10th pick (Oakland is also losing though) Well that's something to look forward too. Maybe they can get another guy that will contribute immediately. Glad to see you've got a positive spin on this. We can be like Lions fans after week 10.
  22. QUOTE (elgonzo4sox @ Sep 23, 2009 -> 09:34 PM) It's an embarrassment to the sport of baseball that the Twins have this .229 weak-hitting shrimp on a major league roster. I agree. They should have big high priced .250 hitters like the Sox.
  23. Are the Sox in danger of falling to 4th place
